DSL TC Showcases / Re: Clickbeetle's Supreme DSL bots

It's a secret to everybody.

lolzelda

Also maybe a possible IRL AI Pack secret project put together by Click (and maybe others)?

If so, ohboyohboyohboy

No, I'm not doing anything so grand as making a secret AI pack.  I've still got DSL3 that I'm supposed to be working on.  I simply can't reveal my reasons for not putting these bots on the exchange.

The reason will come out in its own good time and not before.

Updraft is god-like. Inspires me to do a bit of IRL-ness right now.

Bot exchange, please.

Nope, none of these bots are going on the exchange.  Why?  It's a secret to everybody.

Also, I just noticed that in a side by side comparison, Multicell's skin looks really pixelated and blurry even though it's 512x512.  :(   Might need to fix that later.

HEEEAAALP FB GOT ME HOOKED ON THIS GAME.

I just started playing Survival so I don't have much to show yet... but once I do I'll be posting here.  Just found my first diamonds so I can craft a diamond pickaxe and an enchantment table.
OMG, Click, you should go on Alphasim's server!

Yup, was planning to once I found out about it, just want to get a good hold on single player before I tackle multiplayer.  Should be ready to try it soon.  I'll see if I can get FB on there as well.

In other news, I just started farming sugarcane, wheat, and chickens for feathers (I searched all over and only found ONE chicken on a small island; had to wait around for it to lay eggs and then hope for the 1/8 chance another chicken would hatch when I threw it).  Also found not one but two NPC villages near my starting location.  FB has found an abandoned mine shaft and a crapload of dungeons, but no villages.

UnderCuter looks cute. (see what I did there?)

But yeah, there's a reason IRL is not popular in stock.  There's so little component variety it's hard to make anything look good, and you can forget about combat effectiveness.  The only ones of those bots I would class as "true IRL" are the LW and MW rammers and UnderCuter.  Popups aren't IRL no matter how you build them, and the rest kinda just look like watered down normal stock.

Tip for IRL spinners: Tribars only look good on LW's.  For anything heavier use discs.  Also, since you're building IRL, remember that things you would normally never use, like mower blades and saw blades, are options.

Couple of IRL bots.  Trying to expand Thunderhead into a team.

The LW, Updraft:

Pretty simple design, nothing too special, but it looks good in its simplicity.  3mm Ti armor combined with the sloped sides makes it reasonably sturdy.  Fully invertible as well.

The MW, Multicell:

Yes, it looks like a Mortis clone, but this was totally unintentional, I swear.  It just ended up this way.  It was actually inspired by this bot of Nicsan's:

(Image removed from quote.)
7 Ants NPC's Tite 5.
Feedback?

I wanted to make a similar chassis shape but put the wheels and weapons in the gaps.  And it turned out a flipper in one gap and a hammer in the other fit really nicely.  It has 7 ants and 5mm plastic so it's a bit underpowered and a bit fragile.  The flipper is powered by a Judge burst though so it's reasonably powerful.  Not that good but I like it.  Might try to sneak it into BOF last-minute if I can AI it.

The HW is called Supercell and will be posted once it's skinned.

The drive is fine as is, although you can change the wheel if it's too overkill.

What I was thinking.  Technos are heavy; you could save almost 40 kgs with rubbers or Vlads.  Which could go to MOAR WEAPONS... Sir K drills on the ends of the stabilizers would be pretty cool.

Nary's just trolling.  It's not like we have a zero tolerance pony policy.  Certain people just don't want extensive discussion and reaction images being posted all over.

The VS looks cool, but that drive is probably overkill.  I bet it would tip over if you turned at full speed.

Sir K Scout should be Sir K Hedgehog or Landmine or something.  "Scout" implies fast and agile.

I bet my pride as a warrior that an HS is gonna win. (Rumble format.)

and the finals will be in the blade arena (from dsl)
(all hazards on)
Hmmm... define "cheaty ai" :trollface
healing yourself, OHKO'ing the opponent via ai, using force via ai, ETC.

So hiding under the blade is allowed?

It would be considerably harder to do in stock than in DSL though... I'd need Redbird or RAD drive with mini wheels and only pink batteries; anything else would be too tall.  Plus I'd need to somehow get through the first 3 rounds with no blade to hide under... don't think I'll attempt it.  Maybe if it was LW.

HOLY CARP that is amazing.  Puts my hollowed-out mountain dwelling to shame (even the finished version I have pictured in my head).  The flag is a nice touch.

...But you should build it out of stone bricks instead of cobblestone. :trollface

Ontopic:  Beetle Adventure Racing for N64 was one of my favorite games back in the day, and I always thought the announcer in that game sounded similar to the one in RA2.  There's a chance they're the same guy, and I bet BAR's announcer is named somewhere in the credits.

Offtopic:  My (unproven) theory to Why Some People Capitalize Every Word In Their Sentences is that these people are not native English speakers, and maybe in other languages This Is The Proper Way To Write, or maybe they don't have capital and lowercase letters at all and the person doesn't know how to write in English very well.  I Googled it but only found a reference that all nouns are capitalized in German, which explains capitalizing some words but not all of them.

As much as Nary gripes about the IRL fad in DSL, you have to admit it's been good for the community (at least the DSL community, stock not so much).  Almost every time I get on the forums there's a full page of unread topics in the DSL showcase.

I just realized I could have entered Sandslash in freeziez's Battlebots tournament.  Wish I would've thought of that at the time...

The LW klone undercutter HS on the Pie in the Sky team needs stronger side armor.  Trust me.  That design can actually beat shell spinners if your sides can just survive the random hits they will take.

Or just don't use stabilizers and put something under the center of the bar instead to keep it off the ground, like this:
