Yeah... modding DSL3 and doing my own new version of nar ai based on DSL3 could be pretty nice (all the good things of DSL3 without the bad) but that would mean rebuild everything... although it's probably not bad.
Isn't the whole point to get people building again?

DSL3 rebalanced. Mainly the weapons, the wheels, the burst motors, the chassis armor, and definitely adding the ME back in.
I really like the new extender work and the simple armor/extender balance. I like the reduced weapon count (and personally I will take out even more), I like removing that silly half sheet. And more importantly, without old bots you won't have to deal with compatibility issues when modding.

The problem with DSL was that that "efficiency building" pretty much peak at the beginning of 2011, that's when a lot of the competitive guys lose interest.
Most of the activities during 2012 are actually from newcomers and a surge of IRL.

Well even back in DSL 2.1 the 4 npc/hypno has always been the more sturdy choice over the 2 npc/techno setup. Techno was use purely for it's awesome grip. Especially after the introduction of wheel connection point, wheels can be easily protected from the side as well.  multiple 10cm carbon fiber was used to buffer multiple side hits with it's 300 fractures. If I really want to invest I can put a real side armor on it, and will still come out cheaper than using larger wheels. Personally I will only buy heavier wheels for increase speed, unless wheels become more durable than armor pieces.

Yes Stock is more tedious than DSL. Stack batteries, snapper load drives into blue burst, axle load every weapon, gigantic anchors..... yeah not everyone's into doing stuff like that just to get to the same result.

Stock takes like 3x the amount of time to build pretty much the same thing.
Unless you really want highly unrealistic bots like 36HS (which kinna functions like a FSS in DSL anyway), DSL is an easier platform to work with for the same results.

Stock just doesn't interest me. I build a few popups, HSes, and FSnSes, and I ran out of stuff I want to do with it.
