The axle flex is due to fact motors in RA2 are made of 2 different meshes or whatever the hell you want to call them, and most the motors and sh** in DSL was made over 10 years ago and nobody was really thinking about axle flex at the time, plus it doesn't help that you have 1400+ kg on a slimbody which really shouldn't be used on something more than a MW. Easiest way to fix the problem is either A) Reduce Weight B) Reduce the ground clearance so the axles can't flex as much C) Use more motors as Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaig said.
Your traction problem is pretty much due to the fact the bot literally has no drive power. Like I said before, slimbodies are a weak motor that shouldn't be use on anything heavier than a MW (and that's only for bots that depend on their weapon more than drive, like VS or HS) and Power steering units are pretty poop.
So there is a way to fix the motors that wasn't taken into account back when DSL was built?

It's possible to do higher quality models, however remember that this also increases the loading time. https://wiki.gametechmods.com/index.php?title=Creating_Components this one has a basic guide to get you started. Sadly exporting the original parts is currently not possible. However I've heard that Serge is working on something new which should allow us to do stuff without 3ds max and import the original components back. As for the unstable motor on extender on motor, best way to keep them controlled(and not bouncing all over the place) is to make them balanced, however this might not fully fix it.

I'm calling it now, Complete Control vs Warhead is one that'll be talked about for years. https://youtu.be/0Q7nZlcOlkg?t=1m21s
Can't see the video because I'm not living in the US, but only that disc spin part, anything else about the battle was normal and way too overhyped.

2nd to last looks the best to me.
you'd be better off with putting the drive in the back; you won't need as much rear support, plus the drive will be a lot less exposed.
2nd last didn't have any bottom protection for the extenders, critical against Popups or HS. I was going for a Nightmare look, once the front supports are gone a angled VS can't do much anyways, so drive wouldn't matter too much, having it spread out allows for better turning and since the wheels are on the front the front part won't have a large turning circle, giving other bots less of a chance to hit the sides(at least in theory).

The jittering would be less noticeable with a lower tick interval but it would lag behind the bots more. You can change this with a single line of code but some arenas need higher/lower tick intervals so the V1 action cam didn't change it.
If I remember correctly, the V2 action cam has code so that it doesn't move as fast for the little movements. That should reduce the jittering significantly.
Wow, you're really back, people have been worried and wondering what happened. I see, thought there were too many view updates. V2 also has a new orbit view from what I remember?

Just a nitpick here, but your splash (the 20mb one) wouldn't be so yuge if you saved it as .jpg instead of .png.
But then the quality would drop a lot.

The first and second yeah, I love how you did the hybrid. Shame they didn't work out.
Oh right, you were one of the people that liked hybrids(I really couldn't tell as some of my bots can be really inefficiently built during testing phases) originally I wanted 4 spinners, tried this out for stability(but then found a different way to get snapper II's more stable/not bouncing around, sadly only works until they get desynced, after that it's the usual mess), think that system could work well for slowing down HS and other bots weapons before the main spinner hits, however in the final version I didn't have any weight for that or something that would help it self right. they look really nice.
whats with the sledges on the bottom left?
Thanks They were there to test if extra weight could keep that thing down. Looked nice in testing but it was the same as usual in the combat arena, bot would fall forwards(even if it allowed to balance stuff first) tribars would hit the floor and it would overturn itself. Think that only happened because of the Snapper II's, also I could get it to work fine but the AI had more trouble with it.

The BBEANS blade sure is no joke, ripped that wheel directly off. Also the smartzones on Urgent Emergency seem to be off. So those are flippers, oh boy funny stuff could happen.
Redace vs Redace, looked like the Hammer would win.
Wait what, Wen won that one?! If Redace's bot didn't get stuff on it's own stuff it would have easily won that one.
And I'm gonna fight one of the most damaging popups in the game. Think this time you will see more than a extender with a ram plate and a wheel flying around, unless my bot manages to hit the unprotected top. Expected that the spinner would have to fight Emergency, I do hope that it wins that one.
I don't get whats so wrong about losing to Wen have you seen my robots? there god awful lol :) anyways on the topic of this heat it was ok but no major upsets for me.
Dude your bots are good, doesn't matter who had the idea for the clusterbot, in the end YOU made it, it was YOUR decision and you won some fights with it. If you look at Wen's bot you notice that the FS don't even hit until a lot of stuff gets removed. Redace's bot was destroying it but then got stuck on it's own stuff.
>mfw gold miner lost to wen
GG though.
If only the AI didn't drive up on the broken stuff. Makes me wonder how stable non hamachi multiplayer would be, also hey, see you in the next battle.

Oh my god that first version is SO cool
Really? can't tell if sarcasm because it's using normal extenders with useless spikes(even if there's a reason for that) and angle connectors(again part of the reason), second version was done a bit more efficient with the extenders helping with self righting(or would because omni.py never decided to spin the tribars in the other direction when upside down). Since the chassis was so steep I got to fight a lot with the max sphere(wasn't sure if using a modfied version of that would be allowed for contest entries) and the plows sadly go below the ground, so it gets stuck everywhere else that isn't the test garage.

I think he's referring to IRL and how it's generally more recent than old school DSL.
I was actually going to make a comment about that, as this isn't DSL rules but old realistic rules according to the main post, however the Standard DSL 2.2 bit(which I guess shows the game version) confused me a bit. So, let me ask different, what are the exact building rules for this tournament?

Bump(those should be allowed in the own showcase if I've read stuff correctly), some versions of Your Best Dream: As you can see, it went through a lot of changes and those are only the more important versions, think it was rebuilt about 20 times total.(not from ground, chassis stayed the same for most of it). Originally it had 4 tribars which you can see on the 3rd and 4th picture, quickly got the idea to add extra HS to jam the enemy as they were causing the robot to be unstable and didn't seem to hit with their shorter reach and less damage. Later I tried out if a Alien Queen 4wd or extra weight would help, they didn't, putting the disc a bit back however did. After that I did a complete rebuild(4th last), this time using Servos for stability and thought of different armor plate layouts, second last was the "anti hammer" loadout but I ended up adding plates under the extenders as I expected popups and HS to hit there and for hammers to be less trouble.

Nice to hear that Nuts enjoyed it Also Kill-E Crank-E has a team member from the old cold fusion(body hammer, pussycat) team, their robot reminded me a lot of S3 except wider, too wide in fact, and with a blade that's attached on a swinging part, similar to Thwackers and what Pussycat sometimes did, rotating the entire robot around. Looks like Pussycat is still the only thing stopping Razer :P

Think Minotaur might win this one even if there are other bots that definitely deserve to win as well.

Oh so they're one of the easier stackables(haven't messed around too much with stacking, a list of easier stackable stuff would sure be nice), only issue I see is that one end won't be useable unless you- that's it! clipping the white motor connection point inside and then loading it? however, you would need to load them without a motor attached, making it difficult.
How's it going?
Haven't tried it out much yet. I do have ideas for other bots(a try at a LW bot didn't work) but before I do those I'll most likely upload some pictures, showing the evolution of the VS and maybe a few pictures of the recreations. I will try to do more bots, now that I have holidays I should have enough time and I'd like to do some good bots. Don't get me wrong, my goal isn't to be popular or too well known(but I wouldn't have anything against that) but not just be a nobody on the forum. Of course that also means own creations, only building generic spinners or HS isn't going to change much.

Anyone remember Cool Cat? This cured the STDs I got from looking at Jonzu and replaced it with stomach cancer. Thanks, Wen.
What? Jonzu is cute.

Was going to suggest to upload it but Thrackerzod already ninja'd me to it.
It does look like it's driving fine and that's just the usual RA2 wobbling, except a bit stronger. Maybe getting the chassis a bit closer to the ground/lower ground clearance would fix this, but it's just a visual effect, bot seems to drive and push just fine?
How heavy is the bot? You might have better luck using smaller wheels which make the bot closer to the ground. All bots bobble like that a little bit but most of the time it's not noticeable.
Yikes... So that's just how it it always is? That sucks. Like I said, I'm new to the game, so I wasn't sure if it was normal or not, and it didn't seem normal. And it doesn't seem like the AI tends to have this problem, but I don't know.
Ironically it seemed to drive better, wobble less, and have better traction once I RAISED the clearance... but yeah, I don't know. It's a VERY heavy bot (1700kg or so), but I assumed weight would keep it more grounded and not all bouncy like that. Guess it makes the problem even worse. Low wheels didn't work at all with this design.
I just have to get used to the quirks of the game I suppose. Sort of like how every once in awhile when two bots get squished against each other, they'll just go flying (sometimes off the map) for no good reason.
As far as I know it isn't noticeable when moving around/only really visible in the botlab, so don't worry too much about it. Then again I've never messed around with bots that are more than 800 kg. Guess you also know that you're playing the DSL mod and not the normal stock game? As for bots flying around, that's the havok glitch, which happens mostly when components get ripped off.

A kid playing a modified translated Russian version of RA2(which seems to be one of the older versions as some icons are missing), not too terrible for what it is and in no way a "kill me" moment. Since we've seen that those guys play RA2 too, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more parts of the world play this game, after all Russia seems to have real life robotic competitions too. whats up with the hud
also didnt know there was a russian announcer, someone needs to get ahold of those voice lines
In Soviet Russia you commentate announcer.

yesss the hses are against each other in the main bracket
and there's no way Krastos can fight an hs in its first round
i'll prob still lose tho
And probably not in the second round either guessing that the top two get to enter the top slot while the bottom two get the bottom one. VS is going to fight a HS in the second round if it gets there.
Also, did you get my PM?
