Due to my laziness I have just decided I'm going to do something simpler with no active weapons. Just need motor ideas now probably.

No money no time. It will most likely be built someday, just not now. Or I'll go to WPI and get to play with Professor Chaos instead. They wait-listed me but there is still a chance. 505

Real Robotics Discussion / Somebody's Senior Project« on: March 31, 2012, 09:40:00 PM »
Well I present on April 11th, so I figure its about time to start.
I am planning to CAD a 30 lb robot for my senior project. Doesn't have to be super beautiful and doesn't have to be amazingly accurate, because I'm pretty much the only kid who knows a damn thing about robots in my school AFAIK, and there is only gonna be a few people at the presentation anyways. My plan is a 30lb robot with an eggbeater weapon. Haven't decided much after that, but thats not too important. I need to basically know what parts are the best to use in this, and a place I can get a sheet metal quote and the eggbeater weapon. FYI, the project is to make a CAD Robot and to do some stuff about combat robotics in general, probably editing together a video of some bots (hence my earlier thread on the subject). I will be using Autodesk Inventor 2012 Student Edition (is free), which I am somewhat familiar with already. Thanks ~Somebody 507

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Senna's first car for sale!?!« on: March 24, 2012, 10:36:31 AM »'Fun' fact: I was born on the same day that Senna died. Either way, in relation to the actual topic, I do hope that it is bought by a museum, or at least by somebody who will put it on public display rather than stashing it away. Sorry man I just don't have the cash ![]() 513

5 flips.
2 actual flip overs and 3 lifts. But the phrase "bend it back into shape" kinda outweighs the flips. 514

Was looking back through robots I hadn't seen in the thread yet and found this.
(Image removed from quote.) My recommendations are: Downgrade to a lower armor and add more external armor. Doesn't matter how much you have, the chassis is too small for the extra armor to really help. Try to make the armor cover the first beater bars in each arm. Also, if they are sufficiently covered, you can replace those first beater bars with flipper segments to save weight, or even polys if you want to be risky. Then put razor tips on the end of each arm, because robots can take off the beater bars themselves with the razor tips, which should be taken off first for maximum use-of-weapons efficiency. 517

Aha, just found PerCon. You copied ME Nary lol. CD3 (which became CD4 with minor updates) was posted December 2010. PerCon was November 2011.

Somehow the controls got messed up for turning left and right. Pressing the right arrow key made it turn left, and vice versa. I fixed it and then the AI worked. Another AI fix/recommendation is detailed in the PM. Mr. Psyclone works good on my computer now, should be good for you.
