Figure I'll make a suggestion while we wait for the final: The only real issue with the tournament was the arena, specifically, the path finding around the hazards. Not sure how much work it would take to fix it, but I think an arena with proper hazard mapping would have drastically changed the results of the tournament. It seemed like almost every fight started with the faster bot racing across the raisers and getting launched into the arena wall. I don't know how hard setting up proper pathfinding would be, but I think either mapping the hazards properly or using a real world style arena with good hazard mapping would make for much better matches.

Dewalt Powerdrive kits I think.
Bingo. 1.5hp each, which means 3hp peak in a 12lb robot.

You're using BaneBots wheels? Let me know how they hold up, I've heard mixed reviews about them and their mounting hardware.
I'm using the 1/2" keyed shafts, so that should be less of an issue. Not too worried on a 12lb bot as tons of BotsIQ teams use them on their 15lbers. I've got a bunch of spares since I'll burn 'em quicker than colsons.
A few bots are using them in the UK, don't seem anything special TBH
Most of us prefer the priory caster (RoboChallenge) blue wheels :P
The two reasons I'm using them are pretty simple-dead cheap and readily available. I've been using my old CNCbotparts hubs/wheels for a long time(they've been dead for years) and I'm running out of good wheels, so a properly sized wheel that costs $5.30 is a great option, even if I replace them often. The color doesn't hurt, either.

Keeping the internals tight so I can toss an extra pack in the left side for bot hockey at Schiele.

a few more Descriptions- Top: Flipper with 21 ants in it, so as close to full power as I could fit in the chassis. A bit slow but it tosses well Left: Pretty quick pseudo-undercutter. Thinner weapons would make it more undercuttery, but the hammers look nice there. Disk & bars keep the hammers off the ground. Middle: Trimangle/Afterthought style angled HS. External drive mounting for better positioning control. Really fun to drive. Right: Servo clamp/flipper combo. Doesn't work as well as I'd like, but it's still fun.

Saw a comment about a MW version of the battlebots tourney and decided to play with some concepts-

Is this going to move to signups any time soon?

This is the bot I wish I had time to enter in Battlebots- I was working on a shuffling shell spinner, but couldn't get the shuffle mechanism weight right and had to go with the SS to make sure I at least got something decent in. New bot is what I'd have built if I knew what style people would be building in for the tourney. (I was expecting far more pushing of realistic) Also, who changed the name of my showcase?

Sadly I couldn't get my shuffler to work without it going insane.

Sending my entry tonight. I've got a few concepts I've tested, got one I'll refine and enter that should be fun in this arena.

Lots of countersinking to be done, but Apollyon's otherwise ready for assembly

The difference in style, I think, is more due to the nature of the regional fight than anything.
In the UK, there's generally a way to toss the opponent out of the arena to get a win. This tends to favor flippers that put a lot of forward motion into the throw.
In the US, ring outs are less common and much harder with the arena style, so flippers that focus more on flipping the opponent up and in a way that results in multiple flips works better, as that can dislodge components and result in a KO.

Were they the ones you were telling me about at the Franklin?
Could you give me a link to them?
http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=274&cat=2&page=1Wouldn't bother with the waterproofing option, and they've been hilariously durable. Only failure was a direct hit from steel shadow.

On topic: Maybe you could give Shish more power, like a pair of 150-Ampflow motors.
I'm already pushing 4 hp with what I got in it now. I might switch to dewalts though but that would require a bigger vantec and a battery with more capability.
Just FYI, in Apollyon I'm running 18v dewalts on 6s with the Holmes Hobby SC, and in Moros, 5s with the same speed controller. They work well and aren't too pricy at $100 a piece.

That's not really fair though, cause the tournament just started...idk, depends on what everyone else thinks.
If there's no real change to the function/effectiveness of the drive/weapon outside of removing havoc issues, I don't think it's a problem
