Currently got a good female friend of mine I talk to on Skype every month who used to live near me but had to move to Sweden cause her dad got a major IT job. But times change. Considering the way my life is at the moment with trying get an A in my IT course, getting bullied by my siblings and trying to squeeze every other moment playing through games I don't want a girlfriend. I thought there was a premium pack that allowed you to buy an amount of in-game money for real money. Or, maybe I just figure there always is because f2p games tend to do that 490
Existing Games / Re: Loadout« on: February 08, 2014, 12:32:58 PM »
Very cool game, but it has a very nasty lingering scent of pay2win...
Okay, maybe not, but it's annoying that at the highest level you only get 3 more gun slots and have to pay money for anything else. At least with le fortress it's not as ridiculous. Actually, screw it, I'll do a proper review of this with bullet points and everything. Soo, the topic of f2p. Sooooo many f2p games fall into the cesspool of exploiting micro transactions. Soooooo many of them. This one, this lovely little mechanics-of-quake-meets-gore-of-UT2004-and-humor-of-TF2 game seems to have done it right. Micro-transactions set onto cosmetic things only is how it's done. Buuuut... For a game that boasts unlimited weapon customization... ~6 end game weapon slots are pretty crappy. There are probably 50 slots that can be bought in the shop and yeah I know, once you have a weapon you don't have to have many but still. It's kinda silly. Otherwise, they handled f2p pretty well. Loadouts, weapon customization, customization in general Weapon customization and tech tree yeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, they certainly have the mettle to back up their weapon customization boasting. If you are terrible at shooting games no matter what you play, in this game you can build a gun that makes you amazing REGARDLESS of how terrible you are. I like that. Character customization requires real money which is the popular choice for f2p but anyway, I like it. Many references. Gameplay basically, this game combines everything good in every good shooter ever. That's all I have to say. Really. Overall, it's a good game but very corruptible. I just hope the dev team do it right. 491

Adding onto that, don't get too cozy with the DSL AI. Grog, which is easily the most fearsome in that pack, could get wrecked by any horizontal spinner of the same weightclass in NarAI, and even those bots are a little dated in comparison to bots of today.
You got a few things right. Blue Control boards like the ones you have are a must and smaller green ones are only used as a last resort, and a very last resort at that. In addition, you understand what 'building to the weight limit' is (unlike some new members whose first few bots are either 100kg overweight or underweight in the same way.) And finally, though your execution was poor, you have the right idea using razors as weapons. Razor Tips are the prime rib choice for spinners. Maybe not gut rippers, but for horizontal spinners especially when mounted on 180 degree anglers (which we call flails) are deadly. As for your bot, the realism of it is the first major issue. In Stock, we don't really care about weapons passing through each other (and we often encourage the use of glitching) but in DSL, we have some realism rules. For moving parts such as that we have a slot rule- basically if you can cut a slot or hole into it in real life without affecting the bot, then it's fine. That means, moving parts like wheels, other spinning parts, batteries, control boards, *maybe* baseplate anchors and ME's and motors cannot be intersected, while you can get away with intersecting the chassis, extenders and extras like that plow on the top there. A lot to stomach, I'm sure. Edit: We sort of have a language that we speak here in GTM (aka ME's and CB's, HS, SnS, SS, VS and all that good stuff) and this should help you decipher some of it. That being said, just keep calm and we'll assist you in building. (protip: Colored member names (like Purple for Veteran, Gold for Advanced User, Blue for Global Mod, Red for admins and possibly even the roboteer brown names) usually mean someone is experienced and you can learn quite a bit from them) 496
