"Mr Yoda"...I feel old now, thanks :P
Also got a friend of mine to enter. He lacks access to the internet, so he's not here on the forums, but he wants to be a part of this. That's who 'Ogre' is on the list, if anyone was confused. 483

Team Xtreemer, your team is AI'd and ready to go. Couldn't have made it easy on me by facing all the bots the same way, huh? :P Oh well, gave me practice in finding the 'nose' values.
Anybody else? 484

I actually like Sloth better now with the (name eludes me, the discussed drive motors). sure, the damage is slower, but that fits the theme even more. And i did at one point have 3 perms in there. next, i think i'm gonna work on the arms to keep the other bot up there. But i'll probably put that off till later.
And yes, in case you guys couldn't tell, i'm more than willing to sacrifice power to fit a theme. One of my quirks. 485
Chatterbox / Re: How did YOU come up with your name?« on: April 18, 2010, 06:25:19 AM »
Probably obvious that mine spawned from that little green imp from Star Wars, but a lot of people are thrown for a loop when they find out i'm not actually a Star Wars geek. Granted, i've watched them all (grew up in the 80s, didn't have a choice), and I enjoyed them, but Yoda is the one and only character that i geek out about.
The 9726 spawned from a band i was in. We were at practice, and the song we were about to play starts with a count..1, 2, 3, 4. Our drummer was being a loon that day and refused to count. Our guitarist, ever the wiseass, said "Fine, i'll count...9, 7, 2, 6" For some reason, it stuck in my head. 486

Team From the West: the SFTW team of the tournament. in other words, the team that's the worst built, not expected to do well. I see you did the prizes by yourself. They look good. :D Thanks. There is only one true "legendary" game. That is Worms:Armageddon. Or any in the worms series, actually.
Honorable mentions: Final Fantasy series Space Invaders Pong 492

Due to my last project being completed, I'm needing a new one to keep myself from going crazy...It's time for
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST FORMAT: DSL in Nar AI Each entrant makes a team consisting of a LW, a MW, and a HW. Matches consist of a rumble, starting out with all LW's of 4 teams. When 1 bot is eliminated, the match is stopped and the eliminated bot is removed, to be replaced by the next bot in the team. The match will then begin anew. This goes on until 3 teams are eliminated, last team standing wins the match. RULES: 16 entrants only Each entrant must make their entire team. arena will be a reskinned RA2 Tournament arena This will be ran in NarAI v2.2. All components legal in that are legal in the tourney No BFE, AAM, etc. All building must be done in the bot lab. No cheatbot2 parts, ai parts, or custom parts allowed. bots must show controlled movement. No multibots, since they wouldn't work right anyway. Realistic rule enforced. each bot in a team must be different types. A strict limit of 4 flails PER TEAM. Standard Havok restart rules. I reserve the right to edit videos of long matches down. This will consist of cutting out any extended section of bots in a cluster, barely moving. Entrants AI'ing their own bots is preferred, however, i can AI if need be. But i expect no griping if i don't do it the way you want. Bracket is such: ![]() Here's your arena: ![]() Prizes will be: ![]() 1st place. Froonium Spike and Froonium Snowplow reskins. These components also feature slightly more hit points then their normal counterparts as well as slightly lighter. Once won, they can be used in any future tournament I may run. 2nd place. Choice of Froonium spike or froonium snowplow. There will also be a few awards handed out based on community votes, no prize other than bragging rights. They are as follows. Best built team: self explanatory Best team theme: Also self explanatory Darwin Award: Awarded to the bot that got eliminated in the most spectacularly failure way. Eye of the Tiger: Bot that survived longer than expected Extinction due to misadventure: Team that should've done better. TFTW: Team from the west, i think you all know what that means. Tourney will begin when all entrants teams are sent in and approved. Color coded list: Team waiting to be Received(NOTE: You are not entered until i receive teams, this is just to help me keep organized) Team Received Team Approved Team Ready CURRENT ENTRANTS: 1.090901 2. DSL TC Showcases / Re: Droids from Dagobah« on: April 16, 2010, 08:56:59 PM »All those piglets are a huge combination of McDon-.. I mean, weight. Much better, thanks. forgot all about those. I'm getting very senile it seems. Didn't wanna go with perms, i think they're overkill for saws, but i wanted a full row of saws. Got the same effect with 3 less motors now. Blades are even spaced approximately the same this way too. For sloth I think it is too reliant on wedges for the weapon to work. I would lower the weapon height. Also JD was refering to the magmotor LX. extremely reliant on the wedge. That was the entire point though. get under them, and sit there letting the saws work their magic...It's slothful in the way it fights as well as the way it was built. 494
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Droids from Dagobah« on: April 16, 2010, 03:21:59 PM »Did anyone notice the creepy picture in the Envy splash? I Yoinked that from a series of pics someone did with the Sins as themes. I've got one for each sin, and Sloth's pic is the tamest one. The rest can get pretty creepy, admittedly, but sin isn't meant to be pleasant. Wait till you see Pride. It might be a little too fast for Sloth :P Dammit!! I didn't even think of that. 495
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Droids from Dagobah« on: April 16, 2010, 07:29:20 AM »
The next Sin: Sloth. A failure to utilize one's talents or gifts...Laziness.
![]() As you can see, I committed this sin in the building of this bot. The chassis is huge, and there's plenty of open space. Plus, I was lazy and gave him no way to self right...and yet, he's fairly effective. ![]() 496

Tournament Archives / Re: Back To The Beginnings« on: April 13, 2010, 04:50:14 PM »Btw I choose stock in the poll. Because everyone starts at stock. It is the true beginning. Besides I am totally itching to take a god-awful noob bot and make it competitive. This will be like Noob Warz on crack. I didn't think of that, but you've got a point. As much as i hate stock (no longer even have a copy of stock installed) it's for purely asthetic reasons, i think it's ugly. But this tourney would make more sense as stock. i withdraw my vote. 498
Tournament Archives / Re: Back To The Beginnings« on: April 13, 2010, 04:20:06 PM »
Interesting idea. a few questions.
How close do we have to keep the rebuild to the original bot? Do we keep it as close as possible, or is there allowance for creative licence? What about controlled movement? My first showcased bot has zero, if someone had to rebuild mine, would they be required to give it controlled movement? But, cool idea for a tourney. as far as stock or dsl, my vote would be for dsl, since i can't stand stock. 499

Nar!! Joe!! Stop fighting, you can BOTH take over the world.
I'll keep you in mind then, thanks. I wanna see what i can do with it first, This is giving me a reason to learn how to do it. But if mine just flat out suck, I will appreciate the help :D. 500

So...Unofficial official rules as it stands currently...
Each entrant makes a team consisting of a LW, a MW, and a HW. Matches consist of a rumble, starting out with all LW's of 4 teams. When 1 bot is eliminated, the match is stopped and the eliminated bot is removed, to be replaced by the next bot in the team. Entrants AI'ing their own bots is preferred, however, i can AI if need be. But i expect no griping if i don't do it the way you want. Prizes will be...well, i'm not sure yet. Sometime this week, i'm going to be working on learning to reskin components. So, it'll probably be something along those lines. bracket is as follows ![]() and here's a quick (as quick as something like this can get) video of a match example SOTF test match part 1.wmv and since it couldn't be contained in 1 video, part 2 SOTF test match 2.wmv Further suggestions? Any Gripes? Anything i've forgotten? |
