Raise the drive motors up so the bot is flat on the ground with the wheels barely touching (3 notches up.)

Still scares you, don't it? lol

Lol, not really. It was the arena that won, not either of us.

No, actually. To me, it's not. It's just an unfortunate by-product of your bot. You were able to cram more weapons on than any other spinner because of the crawler/dancer design, so with literally 360 degrees of better offense and defense than anyone else, your bot had to have an achilles heel of sorts, which unfortunately happened to be the arena flippers. Part of competing to win a tourney is designing a bot to battle not only opposition, but in a specific environment. It appears to me that you only really took into account the opposition, and you lost because of it.

I hope I can put into words the sentiment about Bumble Bee around the forum:

For the longest time, Sage built some of the most innovative and powerful bots around, and we all respected his ability to get the most out of his designs. For the longest time too, we all frowned upon bot designs that couldn't "show controlled movement," as Click says, because we thought that just having masses of spikes flailing everywhere wasn't a fair way to win, when it couldn't even track down an opponent on its own. Somewhere along the way, it got warped into crawlers, which are completely legit designs, are also unfair. So when Sage, who we all love, entered a cralwer, which we hate for some reason, basically we defaulted to something along the lines of "NO U."
The only thing that I have against crawlers is that they are relatively easy to make in comparison to other bots, and it just seems like the lazy way out to me. I expected some epic HS-killing hammer bot out of Sage, and I was quite frankly disapointed by his entry, because he IS a great builder (I think I said this somewhere before...).

I hope I haven't sounded harsh or anything. This post wasn't meant to be offensive towards anyone, and I apologize in advance if I do manage to offend someone.

Also, the jokes are getting old guys, so stoppit >:O

I really liked this comment. Sorry to dissapoint.

As for the HS killing hammer, the problem with that is it can't kill other bots, as well as the arena it would be fighting in would block the hammers and prevent mobility because of the needed wide wedges. I also had to account for multi-bots, which a hammer would have an incredibly rough time killing.

I thought it through. It's not like I was lazy and was just like "Screw BBEANS, I'm gonna be lazy and enter an easy deisgn." I tested like 10 bots, and Bee had the best results, so I entered it. Looking back, It probably would have been better to do something else, but meh, it's over and done now anyways.

Hey sage, I just got a notice at work from HP indicating a massive motherboard problem spanning nearly 100 different models of HP/Compaq laptops. I couldn't remember the model number of your computer so i couldn't see if it was on the list. The nice perk is that if your model is on the list, HP has extended the warranty of the effected machines to 2 years instead of the traditional 1. I will check on it when I get to work on Monday. Just be sure to keep that in mind if it turns out the Motherboard is toast.

YAY! thats the best news ive heard all day.

And The Wins will. be. cheap.

Once I'm on the flippers, I'm gone. That's not cheap at all to you?

But anyways, you can all settle down now that bumble bee is gone. I hope you homophobes realize now that it's not as cheap as you guys all thought.

Cheap Win 3000 didn't win. Looks like you all have been proven wrong.

(This post looks kinda sore loser-ish... I apologize.)

EDIT: Well, at least I lost to someone as great as Starcore. If it was anyone else I would be 2 times as mad.

Atually yoshi, it's not that your advice was bad, but he was building a replica, so the effectiveness doesn't matter. However, if he ccan build an effective replica that would be cool.

« on: July 24, 2009, 07:43:12 PM »
Alright. What might be cool, though, is to do a disc and saw expansion pack. The fnal release will actually only have 3 new skins for each component (along with the original) but some components will recieve an expansion pack. Myabe if you made a lot of really cool discs and saws that might be a good idea.

But if you're gonna release them one by one, that's fine too.

Heres a video of everything I have done (excluding the stuff in the BETA. this is all new stuff.)

Here's the BETA (out dated, but gives you the idea)

And of course the actual thread, with strangly the same exact name

Here's the actual original thread before i turned it into a pack.

https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=804

And of course I don't own the right to make skins, but you should know i've been doing it for a long time and already have a pack coming out. You have a cool disc cause you know how to add black shapes to a .tga ALPHA file. It looks amazing. Would you be interesting in submitting it to my pack?

EDIT:

Heres the maces I did. That was a lot of work, and they are all available in game at one time via drop down menu. check it out in the BETA
