i hope you make another one after this, with more entries and maybe a wild card. :)
Perhaps, but let's see how he copes with this one, first. His previous track record for finishing tournaments isn't great, but hopefully he could pull this one off.
Gotta admit that despite the lots of struggling Avy has here, he's doing a decent job. I do believe he can pull it off.
Yes, I think so too.

Bof, eh? I hope i clash with you, hehehe.... Oh, and HAI THAR FLUFFY!
Perhaps. Maybe once we're in there, I look forward to our confrontation, facing you personally on the battlefield- one gentleman warrior to another, in respectful combat. And then I will snap your spine. On a side note, Fluffy was an influence- it was also influenced by various other bar spinners, including Tombstone and Last Rites.

Cool, i helped find it! :P but yeah, the UI looks really cool.
I congratulate you in your role in finding this bit of RA2 history, too- it's like unearthing a trove of fossils from underneath the Combat Zone

Using my Google-Fu turned up this page: DSL-TC Is Due Out Today
However, whilst that site can be viewed on Wayback Machine, it did not archive any of the files themselves. However that topic did turn up this post, the teams for DSL 1.0
House Bots "Growler, Matilda, Sir Killalot"
Explosive Robotics "Wedge of Doom, Wheely Big Cheese, Behemoth"
Team Vortex "WhirlWep, Hypno-Disc, El Diablo"
Predator Bots "S3, frenZy, Dreadnought"
Electrified Robotics "YU812, Shrederator, Typhoon"
Radioactive Meltdown "WhamBam, Tazbot, Overkill"
Cogswell Cogs "SlapHappy, Mechavore, Panic Attack"
Battlebots Champions "Ziggo, Biohazard, Vlad the Impaler"
Robot Wars Champions "Lightning, Storm II, Razer"
Team Slice'n'Dice "Cleperchaun, Supernova, Minion"
Team Magma "T-Minus, Tornado, Techno Destructo"
Ice Cubed Robotics "Robot X, Vladiator Poker, Killdozer"
Team Dusk "Billy-Bot, Potters Wheel, M.O.E."
Stark Industries "Pussycat, FireStorm, Chaos2"
Discs of Doom "Backlash, 259, Nightmare" Groovy! I could imagine some of them being reused for DSL3- some of those team names are too good to waste. Thanks for finding them, and that UI, too

Looked this baby up: http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/%E2%88%9A3 Unfiltered awesome.
Sys...showing positive reception for something? That's a first And Garvin's died.
And there was much rejoicing Good morning, GameTechMods
Mind if I just go lament in that corner? I estimate I'll only be about ten minutes
*Hugs you*

I think you're going to like this. It's a clusterbot; I made three cardboard replicas for this one. This is √3, designed to look like a racecar when the 3 bots hook together. They've got magnets hidden under their shell that allow them to link up to each other like the real thing. (Image removed from quote.)
Definitely one of your best cardboard reps so far, Sonny- well done

If you look back far enough in the DSL showcase you can see weedy, ham, and RA2lover use DSL 1.0
https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,252.75.htmlThere's the first page of Mr Weedy's original DSL showcase- shows quite a few pictures of how it used to look. ACAMS apparently has that interface on his RA2. And one more thing...does anyone know what the original DSL teams were? I can only remember two off the top of my head- "House Robots", which had Growler, Matilda and Sir Killalot, and "Stark Industries", which had Pussycat, Firestorm and Chaos 2.

Now, I could totally get away with that. Everypony loves me.
Maybe, but how I've done it so much in the past is the point is what I'm trying to emphasise- every mod is fair game, except for Inf, at least for the time being- think about it like Pinkie's refusal to prank Fluttershy in Griffon the Brush-Off. I remember that one, and how it was the first triple-clusterbot. Looks great

Dear "infiniteinertia",
I have taken notice to your "Moderating" Abilties. I "Congratulate" you. It truly is an honor, for you to walk among "Naryar" and "pwnator", for that you are "A Mod"
"With great power, comes great responsiblitiy", And I trust that you are a man, that can hold to "Great Responsiblity" There will be bad showcases, and great showcases. The way you judges them, will affect how people judge "you".
I wish you the best of luck.
Sincerely, your freind and advisor, Garvin
I thought it was pretty damn nice.
Hahahahaha you send him this ?
Actually it's pretty fun. AND SCREW THE "WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSABILITY". Inf isn't lawful good, neither am I.
And about that...you know how I've interacted with higher powers before, right? I'm quite sure of it- outwitting ACAMS, become friends with Kill, making Baguettes and you a running gag on the forums. Even with that, I know for a fact that this whole thing with Inf seems like a no-no, almost like a red rag to a bull. Even if I hadn't directly spoken to Inf, I could tell that PMing him like that wasn't brave- it was pretty much suicidal. Hence the dibs on Garvin's CD player when he dies, and the simple memorial below.

Thought so- with all the long and complicated names, they can be complicated to all remember when they're memorised in code rather than names, like stock components.

@Scorps: Yeah, NPC's don't work when you try that, but there's a bunch of methods you can do. For some reason I use the motor chaining method in Stock and Axle Mount Spam method in DSL.
Strange? I manage to axle load NPC's just fine with that method, I think it's really only motors heavier than Perm 130s that I can't. Maybe you just give up too easily ;P
For the time being however, I might also work on another entry. Anyone know any good DSL burst motors that work well for middleweight bots?
Good MW burst motor? Spam BSG's, IMO the JX bursts aren't worth it, especially the small one.
BSGs? They're the green ones, aren't they?

How does that pertain to the post you quoted?
When Naryar said "WTF are you playing Stock in DSL", I was pointing out to him that it wasn't- it was all stock, with the arena being evidence. Maybe I should've mentioned other factors as well, like how he's fighting Tornado with stock-legal components, not to mention the original stock interface.

Right, I'll give that a try.
OFFTOPIC: Post 6,000? How did I come to that?

« on: August 06, 2011, 03:15:31 PM »
Should I use a button command to spin the perm, or spam a load of things inside it to make it spin automatically?

Try Snapper or Axle Loading the bar away first. It's probably intersecting the sprocket on the end of the perm.
Yes...how do I do that? I've attempted it before, but I've never successfully done it.
