I'd still go with selecting which bots to use by having team votes on which of their bots is going to be used in the next round. it seems like it would add a layer of strategy to the tournament, which truly make the most use of the team gimmick. It means bots can be used to instantly counter another bot if they think the opponent will use it. A little bit of chance but mostly strategy.
Maybe its an idea for another tournament, but for now, I don't know how to make this work without one team being on top early and the other team basically being doomed.
Sure this is all possible in the current tournament, but having all the match-ups be by chance lowers the possibility of it being 7 vs 1 after the first round. Having it be 8 and 0 after the first round is literally my worst nightmare for this tournament.
Rather than voting for next matchup, what if each team just selected their next bot to compete, not announce matchups. Early on this wouldn't seem to make a difference, but as the available pool of opponents dwindles it becomes more of a team strategy of which bot to put forward.

How can you have so many pieces on the floor and not have the game crash? The Shell spinner vs Megiddo was insane!
Anyway this heat was full of old vets. But its the new ones that make it through.
I loved that fight so much. My bot may not have done great *cough* facesitting *cough* but I'm proud of my first tourney performance.

Why are all your bots so... small?
Just a current design tangent. Blame it on Badger and bittybots.

Yellow bot looks pretty awful, but I still dig it.
Yeah...its bad. weapon concept works like a really weak popup, and the rest is just a yellow box w/ too long of axles. Weapon setup will probably be reworked into something like Warhead wings later on.

To keep with my current LW extenderbot obsession, here is a weird little flipper concept bot. Not enough battery and can't really do much, but wanted to explore using pickaxes as flipper arms. plus an update of my ongoing LW extendor 13black-ish bot. Now w/ 1 more ant, "better" weaponry, and color.

I question these: A: How do we choose the Captains? B: Which of the two captains gets their way when they have contradicting matchups? C: Would the new goal to take down the captain? Taking down their defenses?
A: could be volunteers, randomly selected, etc. doesn't matter that much. B: I would do a coin flip, where winner could either have first draft pick or sets first matchup. C: not really. Goal should still be to get most wins as a team. Finer points to decide would be following the first match, is it the winning team that keeps the power to select the next match, or the losing team.

Could also set teams draft style, with 2 team captains, + let captains choose matchups like Avalanche suggested.

Did a minor mod on RedPecker to make a LW flipper. Way too underpowered for my liking, but looks pretty good.

OK guys, problem. Buzzsaw (my 2nd entry) has a massive, match-ending havok every time the saw is knocked off. It's basically impossible to finish a match vs HS with it. Would anyone object to me replacing buzzsaw with Scout (shown in the title image and in my showcase)?
I am eager to see Scout in action, so of course.

I think Megiddo would look better with all 4 wheels the same size. I like the other two though, particularly the axe bot.
I am in full agreement about the wheels. That was just my lazy way to make it at least semi-invertible (looks god awful though). Problem has been a) getting some sort of srimech to fit, and b) getting one with enough power to overturn an 800kg HW. Ideally it would function like Witch Doctor's ugly older brother. From its first go in the Sword of Glory it at least performed about as well as with human control. Get under bot, plow and push to wall, power OOTA.

Haven't had just a ton of time to update lately (holidays and all), but here are my 3 main bot projects (sorry for multipost) First is an update of my HW Megiddo (V1 recently seen in Sword of Glory HW heat 3) Front plow has been redesigned, so hopefully no more face planting. I haven't been able to give it a "proper" functioning srimech as of yet, hopefully can work one out for v3. Anyway, look for it in the HW division of Cybernetic Coliseum. Next is my MW ring spinner entry for Cybernetic Coliseum. This is Octonut. Fun to play with at least. I liked Spinaroo, Mate, and wanted to make one of my own. Will probably be the first bot I try to skin (paint.net won't work on my old laptop for some reason, so I've had to hold off trying to skin anything). Last is the bot I just made today in hopes of entering Bittybots. This is RedPecker, and he tries his best. He performs pretty well against DSL stock bots, but I'm not sure how the use of the Behemoth axe will go over. Overall, good practice for making a LW since that's what the next Redditbots season will be also.

How are draws being awarded? Are they going towards both bots or only one who you think performed better?

So realism and lack of design aesthetic aside, how do any of these hold up in combat?

So next Redditbots season is LWs? Guess I better get off my butt and fine tune a decent LW.

Glad for the round robin format. This is my first tournament so this will give me a lot to build from.
