nobody built superheavies after bb because the cost to build one is astronomically high. and no more tv deal meant no more sponsorships. the only reason that superheavy existed in the first place was to let snake fight.

Real Robotics Discussion / World Combat Robot Championship

Quote
World Combot Championship is a brand new North America combat robot event. What is a combat robot? Did you ever see Robot Wars or Battlebots on TV? Well thats a combat robot, or combot for short.

Since then the sport has evolved, the machines are bigger and more powerful than ever and the combots had been competing at two San Fransico based events, Robogames and Combots Cup. The events brought in upwards of 10,000 people over a weekend and had a one hour Science Channel special called Killer Robots: Robogames 2011 hosted by Mythbusters Grant Imahara.

In April 2013, after 10 amazing years, both Robogames and Combots Cup retired, leaving combots all across North America without a main stage to compete on. World Combot Championship aims to fill that gap and expand upon it.

The combots competing within our event can drive upwards of 20mph, throw things 10 feet high and can cut through steel like butter, oh and they weigh 220lbs!

You may be wondering who does this and it really is anybody from kids to families to co-workers to professionals. Thanks to its educational and design benefits it has a broad reach.

Did we mention we are bringing back house robots…

fund them at indiegogo.com

Neat. Shame the wedge isn't happening. Can't wait to see Robo-Rooter and Muttley at Bot Blast.

edit: Oh wait, I see you pulled Muttley. Why?

the $700 that would have fielded three robutts became the $700 that went to buying a computer after my last one broke.

i pulled muttley and gutted it for spare motors and wheels for robo-rooter

i am brining phoenix as a display

how do bots like Toro generate such a huge flip when their flippers only go about an inch off the ground?

comicaly huge amounts of force behind the flipper. they are very inefficient at transferring energy.

in high school I played ice hockey and lacrosse. gave up hockey in 10th grade to fulltime on the robotics team during the winter season. I played lacrosse as a jv starter/varsity swing player until I blew out my knee 1\2 way  through the season last year.
Wow, that sucks about your knee. What position did you play?

I played point and left on d and long pole mid.
