I think the problem is that the arrow that tells the bot which way is facing forward is actually facing up, so the ai gets confused. I think you need a special ai, but I have no idea what would work.
You are absolutely correct. I got it working with an old AI of mine but I am reluctant to release an unfinished AI... I guess I'll send it via PM. I'll work on fixing it when I'm in the mood for doing it (I've been doing a lot on the Bot Exchange today so I don't really feel like messing with this ATM). Bots that sit on their sides are much more complicated than bots that flip over or are less than 45 degrees from being upright or upside-down.

Since it is crashing when the bot loads, I'm guessing that it isn't a problem with spacing but a problem with the name of your bot not matching the name given in the bindings.
DirectionalSpinner is found inside of Spinner.py (a file that comes with RA2). Unless your HS has a Srimech, you can leave it as a DirectionalSpinner with no significant difference in performance (most people use Omni for HS). DirectionalSpinner uses a trigger called "Spin" unless you rename if from in the bindings.
For future reference, please use the BBC tags for code instead of the box tags. I don't mind fixing it but it is obviously better if you do it. If you are on the post screen than it is the button that has a "#" on it. You could also do it manually like so:
Your code
Just for completeness, it looks like this when you post it:
Your code

As Lightning S. mentioned, Flipper.py requires the trigger to be called "Flip" and the smartzone to be called "flip". It is also worth noting that there is no Srimech option.
Omni.py would be a slight upgrade to Flipper.py just because it has a Srimech and the upsidedown checker doesn't work well for Flipper.py (Omni doesn't have one).
Popup.py would be better than both of the above because it only fires when an opponent's chassis enters the smartzone. If you use this, I would recommend adding 'NoChassisTime' with the number of seconds that you want it to have a component in the zone before it will stop waiting for the chassis before attacking.

Why do people only put up one video every few days? it's very slow-paced
Because rendering is a pain.
It also builds up anticipation and gives people that visit GTM less frequently a chance to leave a comment.

As I mentioned in the PMs that I sent out, GTM can get into serious trouble for distributing/containing illegal content and it damages our reputation with search engines if they find out that we are linking to sites that promote these activities.
RA2 isn't as big of deal just because none of the companies that were involved in its creation seem to care (I'm sure they are aware). There also aren't any more places to download the trial version of RA2 so you could consider it to be a try-before-you-buy type deal. We could request for them to make it officially freeware but (1) they may not respond and (2) they may ask us to take it down. Even if the latter is unlikely, it would be really damaging to the community.

VLMC is a pretty good free video editor.

Pretty neat.
I'm surprised Bear made it so far...

Wow its been awhile since you last logged in... Its great that you haven't forgotten about us. As for your series on YouTube, I like it. Keep up the good work. If you don't mind me making some suggestions: - You should do more stuff like your intro throughout the video because it adds quite a bit to the experience.
- You should consider using the F10 camera instead of the F2 because the RW Arena is rather big.
On a side note, if every picture tells a story then what does the scene that you flashed at 1:47 in heat 1 mean?

That made for a pretty good first match... GK's bot was at a bit of a disadvantage just because it starts with its back to the opponent and it was out numbered. That said, the second match got me thinking that it might just pull an upset. Out of the three possible opponents, 090101's bot was probably the worst one for MWC to get pitted against in the first round.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, we're installing the patch found here. Everything should be compressed inside of a ZIP file. When you open the ZIP file using Window's File Explorer, you'll see a folder named "Arenas". It is this file that needs to overwrite the "Arenas" folder in your RA2 installation (it won't remove any of the Arenas that you have already installed). It is a common mistake for people to accidentally install the Arenas folder of the download inside of the Arenas folder of RA2 or not allow the installer to overwrite the existing folder. Let me know if this doesn't fix things for you or if you need any clarifications. The showcases are for people to improve and inspire others. It doesn't really matter how bad you are because you'll undoubtedly improve. That said, you wouldn't have to make a showcase if you don't want to (I never did). There are other benefits to joining like faster responses and the ability to join tournaments/contests. GTM is always looking for new members and content. Edit: I forgot to mention that we also like to see people's ideas. In fact, we have a section devoted to taking peoples requests for RA2 mods. One of my favorite threads in that section is the Arena Ideas thread and I, for one, have worked on implementing many of the ideas suggested there. We also have many modders that are willing to help you if you want to learn to do more than build bots. Edit 2: I'm not trying to pressure you into anything. There is just a lot that GTM has to offer its members and I didn't want to leave out any of the big things

The "Unlimited Mass Mod (with sergepatcher)" needs to be installed into the Arenas folder.
I know its probably obvious but you should totally join up and make a showcase.

Almost all of the arenas that are available to you can be downloaded from here. There are also some in my sig which I haven't gotten around to uploading yet.

I think Goose made the replica of it but it was never finished. IIRC, the rails and bridges are missing. There are also some aesthetics that are a little off (like the proportions, walls, and audience) but you get the idea.
I can repackage and upload it if nobody has the original ZIP/RAR. My primary concern is that I'm not sure if it came with a readme and I would prefer that it kept it if it did.

Mine occasionally comes up with a 404 error or something like that, but it's not exactly like a constant issue.
What pages are you getting the error on? Any details would be much appreciated because the 404 error is basically a placeholder that means something went wrong but the server doesn't known what (so it isn't as useful as any of the other error messages). That said, are you sure that you are getting the 404 and not some other error? Its strange that you would be getting them when nobody else has been. I'll have a look at the errors that the forum software has detected for you but I don't expect any answers from it.

We can't hand out torrents or other links to illegal content. GTM can get shutdown for doing things like that.
I haven't tried 2013 but I know that the previous version worked just fine with Serge's tutorial. Be warned that you would still need to know the basics of the manual method in order to get your models to work with RA2.

I actually improved the website's performance about a week ago but only one person seemed to notice. I've got some more ideas but I think the underlying problem has to do with the fact that we are allowing big files to be uploaded/downloaded (it may be too much for the server to handle in addition to the normal traffic).

Opps, that was me. I'll see if I can fix it so that it works the same way as the bot exchange uploader.
Edit: It should be all better now.

IIRC, you have to turn off RLE Compression when you save the TGA. Similarly, BMP files need to be formatted as 24 bit instead of 32 bit.
The file size has nothing to do with having a corrupted image in RA2.

1. An interesting skin job but the cannon doesn't look quite right and there isn't much else to it. 2. Without a doubt, this is one of the most impressive designs that I've seen in a long time. 3. I'm a bit of a Doctor Who fan so this probably would have won my vote if #2 wasn't so awesome. 4. A very impressive stock build but it might not have enough red extenders to beat the other entries. I would be very surprised if Sage doesn't vote for this one.
Apanx once showed us an unfinished battleship that would have given #2 a run for its money but alas he didn't enter or finish it.
