The captain's job is to the sort out their respective small armies into groups of two before each round starts
I'm confused. Say the captain has 8 bots A-H, would he split them up like this? A+E B+F C+H D+G Then do the two bots from the same tribe fight each other one on one? Or do random groups of two from each tribe all fight in a rumble? Or a team match? Or something else? I might throw something in here even though I haven't built a regular DSL HW in ages, since you seem to be low on entries. Perhaps Mother Lode, considering it's not bad against popups and SnS/SS are banned.

Like the redesign, but why did you take down the page that had all the pictures of the bots that you and FB made?
It was shamefully outdated and I didn't feel like updating it when you could just look in my showcase to see my bots. Actually the page still exists ( http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2bots.htm), it's just not linked to anymore. As for the RA2 history contained on that page, in the near future I plan to upload my entire Robot Designs folder (minus bots with custom components and bots not built by me or FB) which will have more history than you can handle. The Intro to Christianity pages are no longer linked to for the same reason, they are years old and I need to make a new one. That will also happen in the near-ish future.

Sorry for late reply, but: I don't know how to fix the first problem. It seems this is an unforeseen and unavoidable side effect of the code I used. The only solution I can think of is to make another .py especially for 4-way flipper rumbles. The second problem is easier to handle, I just need to add a customizable srimech time delay. I'll get on that.

I think CamStudio works pretty well. Though it's crap at recording in-game.

Nice! But what's with the text changing color?
Since I haven't built any real robots for years, I wanted to shift the focus away from Arthrobotics and more toward RA2. To that end, I changed the color scheme to something that better matches RA2 and will be familiar to RA2 players. my thoughts on this: a. ironbot is under bbeans, does that make it an "unofficial" bbeans tourney ? b. curious, whatever did happen to that dragrace arena you had on the arenas page some time back ?
a. It sort of is, since the prize for the winners was guaranteed entry into BBEANS7. b. I think it stopped working for some reason. It was really old anyway and I have a better drag strip I planned to include in DSL3.

After many hours of labor, I've totally redesigned my website! Gone is the old (admittedly hard on the eyes, although I did like the graphics at the top and was sorry to see them go) black, red, and green theme. Instead I've given it a boring gray theme, but careful observers will note the background is the same color as the bot lab background, and the text is the same color as the RA2 in-game text. While I was at it, I took the opportunity to give some of my tutorials a much-needed update. The RA2 Stats page has been updated to reflect my new understanding of how power consumption works, and also includes motor speed and torque stats. The Building Techniques page also got a major overhaul. I go much more in-depth into chassis space management, building to the weight limit, how to make a good wedge, using extenders, and building popups. Some other sections also got minor revisions for clarity. Hopefully this page will be even more useful to newbies now! Note: I put the Containment Cube and the Epic Showdown arena on the Downloads page, but the links are currently not working because there's a thunderstorm here and my uploads of the .zip files keep getting interrupted. http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com

whoa stock shebeast
What I thought too. It's an improved Shebeast, as well.

Yeah, wedge killers don't really work because popups can kill your bottom faster than you can kill their top. Could be a decent Insectoid-esque thing if you don't angle the piston down though.

That looks like a DSL bot, but with stock parts. Love the monstrously oversized weapon.

Well, it has certainly been a while.
I was toying around with some RIP3 designs and came up with this gem of a bot:
(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)
I call it Pesky Torch, which is quite accurate given its ability to trap and torch bots both in the LW and MW class. While the wedge is slightly AGODed and overall rather crappy, the opposing bot had better not get distracted and turn away, or else they will be grilled. Overall, Pesky Torch works brilliantly, and may just be one of my best built LWs.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D
This is just like my BW Thermite. Knowing firsthand how effective that is... I would say you are destined for greatness in RIP3. Only problem is the VS doesn't get good synergy with this design. I can see Pesky Torch trapping a bot, then your VS comes up from behind trying to get the bot that Torch is trapping and killing Torch in the process, or at least flipping it and making it useless. A hammer would get the best synergy, I think, but since MW hammers are not really competitive... perhaps a slow HS.

I love it. Never thought this design could be done realistically in DSL. Now to make it effective... Drive might be a tad overkill, and so might the hammer. As you say, it's a lot easier to protect against hammers in DSL, so you might want to use just a BSG with a poly extender and a few 5kg teeth on it (or keep the JX but use a lighter hammer, if a BSG is too weak). It won't matter against foes with heavy top armor you couldn't break anyway with the big hammer, and it should still be deadly against foes with weak armor. Then you can add...moar weapons on the discs, I guess. I would suggest static side armor between the chassis and the discs (like RfD's plows) except it doesn't look like you have room for it.

I think Click successfully mimicked NFX's splash and general style so to avoid the classic Click-style splash.
A mimicking beetle ? New for me.
No mimicking intended, believe me. Actually I thought it would be immediately obvious that I built #3 because of the Robot Marketplace sticker on the back (I haven't seen anyone else use one) and the bot's general similarity to the other IRL DSL bots I've been posting in my showcase (this is the AW on that team). Also, I made the splash the same way I always do. But 10 BOTM wins... that's pretty cool. Yeah Joe, you better start building again so you can catch up. Though in all honesty I'm surprised I won by as large a margin as I did. There were some other tough contenders in there and some overlooked bots that deserved more votes.

I may be absent for an indefinite period of time, but two months at the most. I am in a cabin in northern Minnesota working on my Master's project, and I thought I would have internet (which is why I didn't warn you guys earlier). But it turns out the internet in my cabin went down after a lightning strike and they're still fixing it. I occasionally get a connection but it's super slow and unreliable. I don't know when I will have good internet again so don't expect to see me much for a while. Edit: Internet is back.

Clemintiny!!! If this was a naming contest, that would win hands-down. (I wonder who could possibly have made it. ) It's also pretty incredible being an AW sledgehammer VS but there better be another battery hidden behind the extender. Virion looks interesting but I'd really like to see some action shots. I seriously thought it was just a rammer until I saw the axles. Also, funny how there are two bots with "inertia-powered" weapons that are completely different.

Nice to see What Sheck Spinner doing what it was designed to do and beating some shell spinners. Also, LOL at Zombie Pirate Ninja actually winning a fight.

Looks to me like the hammers are too heavy relative to the bot. The force goes into spinning the chassis instead of the hammers. You can see it starts working correctly once the 50kg hammers break off. The problem might be fixed by using a faster tick interval so the AI will start retracting the hammers before the chassis rotates too much. Of course, Frenzy.py (which I assume is what you're using) does not have this feature, and ElectricHammer.py only supports one hammer. Blade Ace is essentially un-AIable with currently available .py's, and there's no way freeziez could be expected to make one (which would be hard even for me) for this tourney.

Congrats Nary. I cut off Aerodactyl's feet and shredded its wings with Sandslash, and I came close to pushing it OOTA with Garbodor, which is about the most anyone can hope for with a grounded bot.

Still working on my splash.
Just remember to not say if you actually enter, or you could be Dairyqueened disqualified...

Holy carp. A zombie spawner, a skeleton spawner, and two cave spider spawners all within a few blocks of each other. AND there's another skeleton spawner and another zombie spawner off-screen (behind me) a little further away. That's a total of SIX mob spawners all in the same area. Needless to say, I'm building me the ultimate mob grinder/XP farm. Only those four spawners are close enough to activate all at the same time, but that's still a huge number. Also needless to say, this area was ridiculously dangerous to get into and light up. I died twice, decided I needed better equipment, came back with a diamond sword with Bane of Arthropods III, and still nearly died the third time. But the end result is going to be worth it. Oh, and this is on a new single player map, which is why I didn't have any diamonds when I first found the place.
