Existing Games / Re: Fortress Craft

Yes, when seeing pubs for this game I though "OH GOD SUCH A MINECRAFT CLONE" and then "but wait minecraft is a DF ripoff"

Minecraft is already a Dwarf Fortress ripoff, and shall not be as good as DF. Ever :P

Minecraft was inspired by Dungeon Master and Infiniminer. Lrn2research.
You do know anyone could say they are "inspired" by one thing and completely rip off another.

1. What do you mean?
As in you cut out 23 seconds in the first video, you should have re-done the match if you pressed the Fraps record key late. Don't be lazy ;)

Wow, some pointers...
1. Quality of the first match was bad, at least take the time for us to get the full match (Sounds cheesy but that is why we like Battlebots over some robot inspired docu-drama)
2. Saw Havoks (Can't really point that out but it should if they are going to end matches badly and you end up publishing those matches)

Hmm, never came across this... interesting.

I predict that 123 will win and Nary will go into a long tirade about how candy-bots are lame anyways and he just did the challenge for the lulz.

Says my crystal ball.
And something about the French surrendering makes this battle a whole lot harder for Nary.  :trollface

I'm liking the drums, but the rest I'm just not feeling. I appreciate what you do. Try more complex layering and see what you get.

This is what happens when people don't take the forum seriously... Please Garvin, stay on topic.

Im not even sure what happened, I just want the tournement to get going.
There is a separate thread for that you know.

It's going down the drain because people like you take the forum way to seriously.
Not a legitimate reason to lock it.

This thread does need to be locked though.
Why, because you made a mistake and majority voted for banning placeholders?
Sometimes I wonder where this forum is going.

RR, I think you should stop whining.

- FOTEPX forfeited his place to GF93, he PM'd me about it, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you guys earlier, I was away. (That's Your Fault)

- GF93 honestly sent in a valid bot before, but he said he wanted to update it. So I gave him 3 days. (He said it was a placeholder)

- Garvin...really? Really? (Don't listen to him)
Opinions aren't really considered whining freez, there is a dedicated "no" key if you want to whine about my opinions.

How about this - no baseplate components (except batteries & control boards) can be added subsequent revisions, and you can't reshape the chassis?  That way, even the "placeholder" bot will show evidence that the person was intent on building something with a functioning drive and weapons system.

I agree on reshaped chassis shouldn't be updated. But I believe if you want to move internals to make it more combat effective, then it's perfectly fine.

So if we still allow updating of bots, how does the host distinguish between actual entries and placeholders?
In my eyes, if there are minor fixes or rearrangements of any kind, then it is acceptable. I'm talking about sending in a blank chassis to ensure a spot in the competition.
