Looks nice, I just hope that people don't take all their Chaos2's apart since those don't get produced anymore. Would be nice to see one built from new parts instead of taking a tank apart next time. Wonder how a completely custom 3d printed Chaos2(so the originals would no longer need to be taken apart) would do in featherweight championships.

Was that Battletoads music?
Yeah, it's in the youtube description.
Nice, sounded kinda like the Battlemaniacs version and since that has songs from the NES one I thought it was from that. Sadly not all challenges and tournaments have the music in the description.

Expected something like that to happen. Also wouldn't it be better to move the hammers back even more so that they have more force or would that lead to the entire robot jumping?
That and there's too much weight on the hammers, so they can't retract properly if I do that.
Oh, didn't know that retract problems like that would happen(I guess similar stuff would possibly happen if this thing misses as it doesn't get the bounce back from the bot? Unless the hammers hit the floor.

I thought TR2 was pretty disappointing. Oh well, at least Heat D is stacked as hell, so it should be more entertaining.
Oh hey, someone watched it as well. TR2 is alright, but their flipper is only ok and would need to be stronger for OOTA's. Without their opponents permanently breaking down I doubt they will get too far.

Only 30 minutes until the next heat begins. Edit: was I the only one who watched? Dantomkia vs King B Remix vs Glitterbomb vs Overdozer Like expected, the two veterans go on, JP's commentary however wasn't exactly accurate when he said that King B didn't do anything, he was the first one attacking Overdozer, knocking one wheel off and immobilizing them. Glitterbomb didn't seem to be that well engineered and had Co2 problems, resulting in it getting unable to self right. Overdozer was apparently only built together in five days, for that it's definitely good. Wood itself probably wouldn't be a terrible armor choice but their stuff just wasn't secured right so their armor "plates" started falling off. I did like Dara's comment "You made a boat with a petrol engine which could burn down your boat", but hey the team had fun.
TR2 vs Big Nipper vs Supernova vs Orte Orte was having trouble with the speed controller and Supernova had to replace their electronics, not being able to test them before the fight. Surprisingly Supernova worked rather well, but it wasn't as you'd expect, the veterans, Supernova and Orte(Bigger Brother) going on, Supernova got pushed a bit around at first and then hit Orte(for some reason JP saw that as hit from Big Nipper even if it clearly wasn't) knocking their safety link out. Big Nipper then had a direct front collision with them which bent their spinner and I think also ripped away the tooth from Supernova's disc. TR2 had Co2 problems as well, with their flipper(which I'd say is alright) and their axe(ugh, stop already doing those double weapon setups with flippers, completely wasted weight). They did shove Supernova around who nearly fell into the pit and had to fight the gyroscopic forces. With no teeth on their disc they wouldn't hit the floor and fall on one of their side but instead spin almost sideways. Big Nipper almost drove into the pit but could save itself. Later on the same thing happened with Supernova except this time it lost the wheel protection and the disc dragged them forwards on the ground, right into the pit taking them out.
Some words before I go over to the matches: The Dantomkia driver is a dick, all that's left of the original is the machine and I'd love to see Mike back, this new guy can take his recolor(which is most likely owned by another team) and go to back to Battlebots. It really looks like they were having problems cutting down the time for the episode. This time the countdown already stars while JP still talks about both robots with the stats up and some JP clips sounded very edited, one time you would have him say and-instantly continuing with something else while other times it felt like there's a huge delay.
Dantomkia vs King B Remix The DTK driver went for the OOTA but launched the flipper too early, resulting in King B getting stuck(what a garbage setup in the arena, you should make that robots don't get stuck like that) apparently King B now increased their power(guys, keep it at the working level before overclocking it) which completely snapped a chain.
TR2 vs Big Nipper(claw setup) So Big Nipper went for the claws since their spinner was bent and probably needed more time to be ready again(the producers later said how they're unsure on which weapon to use which I found stupid but whatever) TR2 had no trouble getting underneath except for the claw on the front and tried to OOTA them but just didn't have the power. Dead Metal got some use, Big Nipper again slided towards the pit but this time none of the wheels were touching the ground, giving TR2 a easy time to shove them into the pit.
Dantomkia vs TR2 I expected this as well in the heat final, with DTK winning because it's better engineered. TR2 didn't have much trouble getting under them and tried to OOTA them but just lacked the power. Dantomkia's flipper didn't have the power it usually has and later got stuck open, giving TR2 a easy time to flip them over and then come in with their axe which is now called a "bumaxe".
King B Remix vs Big Nipper(spinner) King B was showing early aggression, someone hit the pit button(this happend a lot in this episode, the pit button randomly being hit, bad editing didn't show who did), Big Nipper later got the spinner running and hit the BACK side of King B, yes that's the back and not the front JP. King B has two safety links, one on top and the other one on the back, that one got knocked out. No idea why they were driving into them backwards, especially if they know the link's there.
King B Remix vs TR2 TR2 had a easier time getting under them. I gotta say the use of Killalot is good here, he picks up the robot, holds it over the flame pit and drops it down, no parading around like back in Extreme. Think Killalot hit their safety switch and King B went out.
Dantomkia vs Big Nipper(spinner) Big Nipper got flipped over which stopped it's spinner(bad design, add something on top so all that energy doesn't go to waste), Killalot picked them up, then did the same thing again but then broke down?! Upon looking at it again I can see that his lance got stuck in the Arena. So Killalot was stuck there, Big Nipper escaped the corner and hit Dantomkia's flipper, probably ripping part of the front off. The judges gave it to DTK, giving us the expected final. "Hot flipper on flipper action", hey it was their quote, not mine.
Dantomkia vs TR2 DTK again got flipped around easier until the floor flipper got it, DTK then got a flip in, both were near Matilda, Matilda got some hits on DTK and one on TR2. According to JP this battle was like a grand final. DTK vented some gas after that, looked like Matilda's hits(there was also a hit to the firing flipper) did knock out the flipper and the rear support, keeping down the front. TR2 tried to flip them and drove on to the floor flipper which flipped DTK into one of the corners. They were unable to self right and time just run out with TR2 pushing them around.
TR2 is a good team in my view, however their flipper is only ok and I see them going out to Carbide. If we don't get any challenge soon(don't think Shockwave's wedge is strong enough?) it will be a easy final for Carbide. Seriously, the mechanical fails in Episode 1 and 2 were ok, but here again? Some parts of JP's commentary were a bit off, all this leaves me wondering if this episode had less quality than the last one.

>UHW with LW weapons
drive looks too close together too, can it turn alright?
Yeah, that's another thing, didn't know those were LW(if DSL gets updated one day adding descriptions to that stuff would greatly help, so we would no longer see weapon motor drive). Did notice how easily they break off and thought that 2000 kg would be the next limit so there wasn't enough for better teeth. Think the next upgrade will have 2 weapon motors with 2 discs each having 4 of the big heavy ripping teeth(if that's what they're called). Was going for more real life accuracy to XT, drive seemed to be nice in the test garage but isn't that great in battle. I do have a plan to give it great side turning however.

So you made a rebuild of the ultimate spammer or why do you edit the wiki stuff into this? Batteries could be stacked and I think 2-3 Supervolts are enough(maybe a 4th but that's probably a bit overkill) so you could save chasis space there. I don't know how much the Snapper 2's help there but I'd rather get two side wedges instead. Ballast should also probably be placed in the middle and not on one side, getting wedge armor via ramming plates might be the better option.
How good is it against the Starcore AI?

Built this monster yesterday. Think it's still a WIP and I'll most likely upgrade it to be 2500kg(because there's a inofficial weightclass somewhere between SHW and UHW from what I've heard?) originally started with building a XT Series 7 like bot but I quickly realized that it's going to be too heavy, got Sergepatcher, upgraded the armor and made this tank, think it only loses by points or getting thrown out of the Arena.

Oh so this was Scrapheap challenge. Thinking about entering but DSL 2.1.... just upgrade it to 2.2 already :P Also the smaller chassis with the slider trick is not allowed or does that not count as a bug?
counts as an in game glitch and has be a normal part of dsl building for over 7 years now so it's allowed.
Thing is, this is mentioned about in game glitches: Only in game glitches are allowed - eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading.
I'd count it as normal part of the game as well, but better to ask the tournament host before building something like that.

Could you show a picture of that bot? I don't own RA3 and it seems like you can barely find info about anything from the game if you don't have it.
Something to do while NBA 2k16 downloads...
(Image removed from quote.)
Forgot to set up my folder for uncompressed screenshots after Steam broke and I had to reset it. Really can't be arsed to retake the picture. Isn't worth it.
Expected Spinner from the West. Not sure if they know about the meme or saw the bot and were like "hey that looks cool and the forum likes it, let's have it". ould you, if possible, post more info about the AI bots/components somewhere You can learn almost nothing about this game without owning it, and even if I wanted to get it via "other means" I doubt that there would be something. Out of curiosity to see how many sales would've been missed by "downloads" I went on a search and found nothing. I might have not searched hard enough and would rather know the information from a wiki than having to directly check the game. By the way I say that you should either get a game and support the developer, or not get it if you know it's bad. If you really want to "download" it to check it out, then please buy it to support the developer if you like it. Just wanted to get that out of the way so this hopefully doesn't get flagged as against the rules.

Half plates no longer work because... something something collision meshes.
Half plates haven't changed at all from DSL 2.1. They are still the same where you can't use them with a minimum height chassis
Haven't really used them but why can't you use them on minimum height? unless you mean BFE minimum height.

So I've been quietly following this game, pretty much as soon as the first trailer came out I knew I wouldn't be buying it, but I watched a video and would like this clarified:
Is the lone saw, like, actually a built-in robot and therefore part of this game? I'm not the sort of person to bank on that meme anymore, it's long-gone and I haven't been known for anything since let's be honest, but if that's the case... I can't say I'm not very surprised they decided to dig up that old meme of all things.
Although it's barely an honor to be part of robot arena 3 of all things

I disagree with @090901 however, having side armor can help when getting thrown around by spinners/slow turning(which your bot seems to have, guessing how the wheels are very close to eachother) back armor can be good if your bot gets flipped, so that's definitely not useless but might need a little downgrade to titanium.
No, extenders are terrible for armour as they have a poor HP per KG. There is a reason why armour plates, skirts, and etc exist. He's probably used more in weight for the extenders than he has for weapons.
Guess that's true, best would still be to put on armor but idk if there's height for that with that design. Also I'm not 100% sure if using the super light carbon fiber extenders or aluminium would be good, other components still seem to get shock damage so having your armor fall off because of weak extenders isn't what you want. Pretty sure he just showcased this to get me to show him my challenge bot, so he could counter it. He told me this was his challenge bot but he submitted a hammer :P
Anyway, what the others said. Not much you can do with rammers tho, they get raped 99/100 times by anything with a wedge. You wasted an ungodly amount of weight on extenders too
He did say that was his challenge bot? :P

Welcome back, broseph.
Razors/Irons are incredibly nerfed by the fact that weapons with normals have DP through the roof. I recommend replacing all the razors with axe heads, and because you (should) have a copy of RA2CF, it should be pretty easy.
Were they really nerfed that bad in DSl 2.2? And why do half plates no longer work? As for the bot, it looks surprisingly small for a HW but that's just like the stock bots, all those fancy weapons taking the weight. Was going to mention this before, but other users did. Looks like it's food for plow hammers and popups, having extra protection on the top and bottom sure would help(and not just a small plate, most likely titanium since polycarb doesn't seem to last too long, unless you want to increase it's DPS.) I disagree with @090901 however, having side armor can help when getting thrown around by spinners/slow turning(which your bot seems to have, guessing how the wheels are very close to eachother) back armor can be good if your bot gets flipped, so that's definitely not useless but might need a little downgrade to titanium.

Very nice work here man, looks overall very clean and well constructed
I wonder, would it be possible to set the flipper speed/power by getting the perm's speed via a python script?
I'd also like to know this, I've got a bot like this that would need it. I doubt you can set the power of the actual flip from the speed of the perm, but it could well be possible to just not allow it to fire until the perm reaches a certain speed.
Thanks, I'm always wanting to get more comments on my work. It all depends if component values can be written. From a earlier question in the AI thread I know that it's possible to get the current value of servo rotations, dunno if the flip power gets stored somewhere(or if there's a random factor to it, since sometimes the burst motors fire stronger), but if it does then this might be possible. The other solution would definitely be possible, but given how this flipper lacks power it's probably not going to do too well.

Built this on what I remembered from Warrior Clan, so the wedge wasn't exactly accurate. There's also a bit of clipping with the extenders but unless we get flat extenders that one isn't going to be really fixable, so I hope we can let that clip slide. Was originally going to be built in IF but IF doesn't have the triangle pannels. Since you can't see the insides: 5x Long 20 KG Batteries(probably a bit overkill) Normal Perm, mounted at the back Plastic 8kg? for armor, we really need something that's 10kg. TWM2 for drive with ant wheels I know that the front motors are probably ant weapon ones, they don't spin and are only there to help with driving since axle mounts wouldn't fit there. Originally had Hypno Teeth only on every second plate, going in a _ - _ - pattern, but increased them as I had leftover weight and they kept falling off rather easily. Flipper uses a small burst piston motor, couldn't really fit anything bigger in it. Sometimes works with self righting, other times needs to fire multiple times, can flip some robots from Redace's pack while it struggles with others. For some reason DSL sometimes likes to crash after parts are removed, dunno why exactly, happened quite a lot with Industrial Coalminer(had to redo the match 3 times until one hit caused it to Havok under the floor) as well as the Jackpot LW(fought in the battlebox arena). I'll probably remove some of the Hypno Teeth again and reduce armor so a minibot can be added. As for the combat performance, I'd say it's ok but could be better. DSL(at least with the Hypno Teeth) has the same problems as Stock, once a part of the spinner is gone you're going to spend lots of time fixing it, so all the 30 minutes are usually spent on fixing Hypno Teeth so they don't break off. I wonder, would it be possible to set the flipper speed/power by getting the perm's speed via a python script?
