Actually, I think the motor is INSIDE the drum itself - at least, that's where the extender is leading. I've run across a few robots with a drum that envelopes the entire motor.

I second the eggbeater part. It would be a very easily adaptable piece, especially coupled with something like the slimbody/redrum motor.

If you take a preview picture of your robot, say in the botlab, then exit out and open up MS Paint, you can change the background color to any color you want. Just pick a color and use the "Color Fill" option (2nd button down on the right). The box is a solid black background, so it can easily be changed.
You can do the same thing for making preview pictures of any components that don't have pictures already, too. Take a picture, exit, go to MS Paint, and lighten up the background a little. Use the selector square to "mask off" the component preview, make a copy, and paste it to a new bmp. Save and rename the preview, put it in the correct component folder, then modify your .txt file to reflect the name of your new preview.
That's just how to do it in MSPaint, which I'm sure everyone has. I also use MGI PhotoSuite and Picture It 7.0 for graphic editing on occasion, too.

We already have the teeth that go on Matilda's flywheel - look for the steel tooth, and pull down the menu.
To get Matilda's flywheel ... well, requires a slight modification to a file (read: cheat), but .... Go to the M's in your components file, find "matildaflywheel.txt", and change the hidden value from 1 to 0. (hidden = 0)
I actually went one better than that, and put it in the same folder with all the other discs. If you want to do that, open "259disc.txt", and on the line that reads "styles = ... BillyBot Saw", add this:
matildaflywheel.txt, Matilda's Flywheel
Make sure you make a copy of matildaflywheel.txt and put it in the styles folder. This way you don't even have to un-hide the flywheel for the components list, because now it will be in your discs folder when you restart the game.
Oops, hope the DSL Team didna see that - they might say i was cheating .....

Ah, very cool - thanks! RFSHQ is a great site for all the downloads, although there are a few busted links, like for Lu-Tze's shark tooth, the chariot wheel, the gyrax wheel, the angle motor, and the drum. The drum, tooth, and angle motor can be found in her 1.9 pack, but the wheels can be found here: http://lu-tze.gametechmods.com/Components/Just ran across the site one day ....

Nah, I kinda think he's saying something like a claw that can grab and crush, or hold them up. just imagine driving around the arena holding your opponent over your head like some kind of robotic wrestler ....

Okay, I wanna see some specs for that thing .... what kind of motors / drivetrain / weaponry / etc is it running? And forgive me, but that body casing looks like the differential off a 4x4 or something! No offense meant, but is that what it actually is?

Hi, guys ... wanted to find out if anyone had any of the old components that were listed on AceUplink before the site shut down. I have about half of them on this list ... http://www.freewebs.com/robot_arena/downloads.htm... but there are several I don't have, and would like. If anyone has the ones from AceUplink or any discontinued site, please let me know, as i'm always on the lookout for new parts to play with Thanks, and I appreciate the help.

And congrats on getting into the famed DSL listing, dude!

I was figuring not ALL over the floor, just a few scattered obstacles here and there. But, on the other hand, could be fun having to crawl over stuff to get to your opponent, like combining the mars arena and the obstacle arena.

One more thought I had on the junkyard arena while I was driving home ...
You know how the garage has all those loose things you can run into? (crates, cinderblocks, cones, etc.) Why not make some junk and leave it laying around the arena for additional hazards/obstacles? Maybe stuff like ... I don't know ... car engine block, wheel rim, bucket seat, the welding tanks .. stuff like that. Just something else to think about ...

works good, too, especially on an Earthquake motor - my robots were doing backflips.
Oh wait, that was a "cheat" part .... oh, well ..... not like I was sing them for online combat, anyway ....

If that robot is called buttocks, you need to add one more thing to it ..... the flamethrower.
Someone did a series of bots called "Big Butt", and I laughed mine off when i saw them. the only thing that was missing which I HAD to add was a flamethrower out the back. I'll see if I can find a pic or two of the "new" version ....
