At least we have time to suggest fixes, fine tunings, trimmings and other little tweaks for the next pack. =)

     ...

I have stacked motors and burst pistons and everything for ages and on motors I have always had to give the idea up because the whole robot will be very unbalanced and it waves around like mad but it is possible to stack motos without turning game mad and also if you really want to stack motors you have to balance them very carefully so they wont start to shake your robot like in real life if you create eccentric thing and start to spin it on high speed.

On burst pistons I have succesfully connected 1 stock piston to storm piston and it has worked just fine since these days and I think it will last like that forever.

If you don't believe me download it from heavy weight area under other robots. It's named as Knock Out.

And by the way stacking stock pistons creates much more stable combination than stacking 2 custom pistons for example those storm pistons.

And in real life I just think no one just hasn't had got that idea that when you connect 2 pistons to each other you'll double the speed of the weapon and the impact will be also double as bad as that. Well almost. In theory it could be as much as double but really it would be something like 1,5x or 1,7x or something but I don't know because I don't have anything on what to test it and on what to calculate it.

And also 2 days ago I tested to connect 6-mag gearbox to burst piston so that the swinging arm would have 360 degree area to gain speed and then turn from horisontal line to vertical line and hit the enemy at the full speed, but even I have balanced it correctly burst piston doesn't have enough strenght to keep whole thing stable and so the whole weapon thing doesn't do much damage because it loses much power to that random waving.

If you could make little fine tuning...

Could you make that storm piston more stable because when I connect 2 of them to each other and then connect a weapon end of the second storm piston what is connected to the first one, second piston flies off after few fights with the weapon and then I have to rebuild my robot all over again.

So could you stablize it more? Or make something what makes it possible to connect 2 storm pistons to each other with out lacks.

I got that idea too quite fast after I finished it but then I noticed that my chassis doesn't have enough space to more bigger motors or the new motors doesn't have enough torque so that's why I didn't change them and also if I change those hollowed blades to solid ones current motors doesn't have enough torque to push the robot to even adequate speed.

Is it a tank? No. Is it a overdrive? No. It is...

Walk Smash Walk[/u] robot. And it is named by this flash. http://www.starterupsteve.com/flash/html/walk_smash_walk.shtml

And I know exactly what's their weakest point and I also know exactly what robot to use against them.

just use a heavy armoured low wedge

Nope I'll use my Powerpack. It gets easily over their plows and smashes their chassises very fast when it is on them and it starts to swing its arms or rise itself in the air and start to poke them to death.

...So just take NPC motor and then connect some bars to it and then you have 360 DEGREE burst motor. It is twice as good as 180 degree burst motor.

See my robot Powerpack in robot showcase area. It uses 360 degree "burst motors" on its arms and it is really like a monkey on the arena floor. It jumps, spins and moves like real mad monkey when it is fighting against its enemys.

General Support / New Team - Then it Crashes wtf?
« on: December 20, 2005, 01:54:57 AM »
Well I can't say much more than...

Just uninstall it once more and then install the game's patch. Then run the game and go to creadits and see if there reads 1.20 version. It is in the right top corner.

Quit the game and extract DSL 1.0 to separate folder and then cut everything what is under that folder where you just extracted DSL 1.0 and then paste them under that folder where you did install RA2 with 1.2 patch.

It ask to overwrite everything click yes to everything.

Then extract DSL 1.2 to separate folder and do as before cut and then paste to the game's folder and then overwrite everything.

Now you should have 1.2 DSL mod installed.

And if the new team's creating still crashes try once more to uninstall whole game. Then install it, run it and create new team and then quit game, patch it, run it, create again new team and quit.

Now install mods and then try creating new team. If that crashes then I can't help you further but at least you should have 2 extra teams now.

Discussion / Tournament
« on: December 17, 2005, 05:52:11 AM »
Just crossed my mind.

How you order the tournament? Specially I want to know when because I'm from Finland and almost everybody else are from USA because game is only released there.

So I want to know on what day you'll keep this tournament and on what time?

Because only good time for me would be on weekend because when the clock is here 12:00 there it is near 24:00 and vice versa so it would be damn hard to play on week because I have school, high school if we are detailed, because I have to go to sleep very early so I would understand everything what I'm studing.

Could you add an option to turn those green fading points on and off because now I can't know how hard my robot hits and so I don't know so easily is it good or not.

But sounds nice. But I hope the buzzer won't be so cracky as it was. =P

Looks like it is either a bug in the mod or my game doesn't write robot's information correctly to .bot file anymore.

No they don't I think that problem comes only with motors when they are attached to axels and axels are attached to motors and so on.

But I would have added there much more axels but game didn't let me add more than 4 things in chain. I think it is because limitations of game engine to calculate things.

#2 The new bots in 2.0 make the original AI look like chicken feed... imagine the Starcore AI pack turned DSL.

 Buhuu.

Then I'll need some sort of mix of my Spikebeetle, Cornerking, Defender II, Bunker and Powerpack to stand a change against them.

General Support / How do u slant parts of the robot's chassis?
« on: December 06, 2005, 10:39:09 AM »
You can do it like this.

Or like this.

Or the best way to do it is like this.

But remeber that hinge also needs wiring but I don't anymore remeber why.

First you need either Base connector under extenders panel or under same panel that red striped round extender and then plant them to your robot's chassis.

Next you need corner extender under same extenders panel and now you can connect your titanium sheet to it.

Or you could take that hinge and then connect it to base connector and then place your sheet to it so your sheet will bend so it wont gain so much damage if it is hitting to something in wrong way.

Edit: Or did you mean that round shape? Then you have to make totally new part what is so large that it covers robot's body under it.

Or you just could import AI robots in your garage and then study of them.
