Decided to add some color to Apollyon this weekend-

Invertible rammer?

Anyway they are all very cool, might want a double-sided stabiliser on the LW :P

Sorta, it tends to catch the opponents a bit for a massive box-rush slam if things line up right. No weight for extra stabilizers on the LW.

Mostly MW's, the one with the dualpussycat blades is a LW.

Looking at the legal cheatbot parts, did you mean for it to read that the judge's gavel is legal?(it's in the extras section) It's pretty overpowered iirc (20kg, 3 pierce and concussion, 9000hp)

LW: Looks like a pretty good design. Looks like Metal Hinge wedges, though...
MW: Again, looking very nice. Can't see much wrong with it.
HW: Interesting idea. Be interesting to see if it actually works.
SHW: Looks deadly, if a little bit messy.

LW has axle wedges, they're just fairly far inside the chassis.

Here's a few new bots

Left to right:

LW, tri-beater setup. Blend of the common motor-in-drum setup with the weapon feeder wedge for some VS's

MW, 8 beater bars with a feeder wedge

HW, Overkill wedge and hefty weapon rack on a single Judge burst with bonus (internally mounted) flamethrower action

SHW, massive sawblade like rack with very solid mounts/protection and righting poles.

It's too late to go back with the HW, but if the SHW has the same problem, just remove the flamethrowers. It sucks losing to a physics glitch.

Just a few things I noticed in the video-

It looks like the left side of the weapon support is taller than the right, causing the tilting when you're driving, either sanding off some material from that side or adding a bit to the other side should make it drive a lot better. You'll also want to check on how easy it is for the teeth to get a good bite on someone, as the points on the support stick out quite a bit.

Outside of invincible armor, I see nothing wrong with it from an IRL standpoint, it's basically Son of Whyachi with a bit of armor on the front.

It's not just practicing, but practicing with the specific robot, preferably on a surface that's close to the combat one, in my opinion. The more you practice, the closer you get to not even thinking about the controls and just focusing on where you want the robot to go, relying on muscle memory and reflex to take care of the rest.

Still only had two weapons instead of eight. But I suppose it could easily be done IRL. Just wouldn't be particularly damaging.

I don't have an issue with lots of smaller teeth, as there's not a good saw equivalent to this in DSL-

gee fine
(Image removed from quote.)
The firestorm flippers are basically armour which are moulded around the motor and stuff and acts as support.

Tell me how you find it unrealistic then.

I saw this and was very confused for a moment

The photo doesn't show it all that well, but it looks like with the 75mm wheels the bot won't be invertable. Is that the case? Also, any plans to prevent the front end from lifting during acceleration?

These are the rules, they cannot change.

This topic now functions as a signups thread.

I don't see anything one way or the other about cheatbot parts in the official rules, only later when clarifying them, which would leave the specifics to fotepx.

If it's now any cheatbot parts as long as the bot stays irl looking, I've got some mods to make.

Decided to turn down some 1.75" lite flites to 1.25" for Kobalos-

Low profile and about as close to perfectly concentric around the shaft as possible.

Awesome overhead throw out of the arena is awesome.

Too bad a real opponent won't sit still so nicely for you to grab them...

As odd as it sounds, I think it's easier to get a good grab when they're moving. When they're moving around, the other bot will tend to go further up the arm, resulting in better leverage for the grab & lift.
