Yeah I guess this mod is the new place for IRL building.
Not yet but it will be.

Robot Dogebotics, you're doing it wrong. 1/8

Lel @Andrew

Tashic, great to see you like the weird style of building, I was going to make more bulkheads buts then err... Ran out of time I guess. If you check the date on those files they were only made like 2-4 days before release. The flipper ones are actually ones that Jarvis designed for the new Flow, before he decided to make something a bit different.

The spinners are made from two collisions because it was easier to get the balance that way, (one of the curses of actually making the meshes for components rather than editing the code) on the plus side you get a much better bite and you can throw your opponent quite well.

Hypnodisc HP is for those hardcore stuck in the past RW fans who think HP should be able to beat anything.  :laughing so it uses a motor more powerful than last rites... But then again Scorpion uses the same motor, people just need to get uses to turning the disc off now and again. They definitely need to with Last Rites to calm it down and Ray does it in real life.... Hell I think all the roboteers are constantly touching the throttle. Definitely who I know do.

A lot of the arenas are a result on me trying to get realistic camera angles on watch cam. I've done a roboteers view for most but I didn't with the RWS7 arena because I thought the Craig Charles view was still there... Whoops. We did have a much better and realistic series 7 arena made but we couldn't get the hazards working. It would've literally been a pit and oota zones.

As for the RWS1 Arena, Wham is the only one on our team who created via GMF editing. Guess that's one of the results of a half finished being deadlined. Hell, I had to do the texture for the main wall and finish the oota zones a couple of days before release.

But aye Jpjk & Yug, the static cameras are pretty bollocks because I didn't want to ruin the realistic perspective of the arenas... And a few snuck in that probably shouldn't have. I'll see what I can do for the expansion but our to do list is getting pretty hefty now.

If the robots don't fall apart while facing spinners in the game, they won't in real life. The curse of Hardox armour it just never sods off. Oh it's brilliant when you use it yourself though!

If the robot KO's because of countless flips, then it will also happen in real life. Flipper do cause damage, unless your robot is built like a tank. Gives you more insentive to not got flipped though haha.

It is aye but we've already got our feather list overflowing. We've been trying to bin robots for our list rather than add otherwise we'll never get a break. Hahaha

A mate of ours bought it a few years back and he came along to Barnsley, he walked through the door with it and we waddled over claiming dibs.  :thumbup eesh gewd innit.

Anyway, more flippers is exactly what this mod needs.....

Only problem I have with the mod is that controls for a good portion of the robots in the robot designs folder are set to some weird things that don't map to a keyboard.

Other than that, great work.

They actually map to an xbox controller, if you're that way inclined. It's because HB forgot to change them to keyboard controls ;P

WHAT. Trying that out after work!

Aye I'm a pleb haha. You'll need one of these if you have a wireless controller. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=301551727565&globalID=EBAY-GB

It's much better than using a bollocks keyboard. Sad thing though, RA2 likes to gan all sensitive with the thumbsticks. Still worth it though. ;)

Oh and lastly, finished the first robot for the expansion today. Whoop! Anyone who guesses which robit it is gets a banana.

Sorry if I'm being silly here, but weren't the house robots going to be added? Or are they not quite done yet?

Q&A
Q: House robots?
A: Soon.

Yes you are being silly Mouldy.

also, does anyone want every single JPearce voice clip used in RW:AOD and RW:ED? I suppose someone will care

Jason, Sorry I forgot to put you in the splash and ra2 credits. The stuff you gave me was a massive help, and we really appreciate it. Your name will be credited on the Official Robot Wars website when the page goes live. ;)

Mouldy... Redace...  Wat. How.. Ehh daphooque
...lucky draw aye? Haha. Noisy Cricket or Saint in the Challenge a Champ event then  :p

Tmmcreight25, there are no missing components at all and I'm not sure what you mean "missing robots"

I don't think you understand the mod. It's not made for people who do the sorts stuff you do.

It's meant for beginners who want to make something simple and IRL that can be competitive with the replicas and the fights can be scored fairly despite weapons or parts falling off, like real life modern combat.

No-one else has complained so far because they get it. And what problems we do have are already being worked on for updates/expansions. But I doubt you'd be interested.  :thumbup

The events have always crashed now and again for me, like since ra2 was released.

Ducky, thank you so much. It's great to know you're over the moon with everything and whatever issues you have, you've been willing to make them better for yourself... Means less stress for us haha. The textures arnt as High res as I would like and Hypnodisc is partially from Whams mod and the rest was my early day modding, and if you look back to the start of the thread it was a completely different look. The only reason why it remained unchanged is a high res upgrade would mean a new mesh aswell but I got Hypnodisc running so well, I didn't want to faff with it. Who knows, I might try for the expansion. :)

As for the no disc inserted thing, that's confusing. It hasn't happened to anyone that I'm aware of.

Yug, we were go into include it originally but it just made all the new camera angles ect a bit pointless and the frame rate was damn awful so we reverted the .py back to normal.

Battlebots 247, what exactly is crashing mate? What version of Windows/OS you using? And did you install it into program files?

To everyone who is having problems downloading, PM me, Craaig or Knight and we will give you a temporary link.

Looking very good! Pleased you like the new components, I've made a little post talking about the assembly of two part axes, crushers and spinners if it helps. :)

Have you tried out mounting the invisible flippers on another burst for extra oomph? The modern replicas use about 3 bursts in total haha.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback so far guys! :) It really means a lot to us.

Admittedly some arenas aren't finished and theres not even 1/4 of the new weapons we wanted to include, simply due to time constraints. But Either way we didn't want to make you guys wait any longer to try out these replicas and get the classic feel of Robot Wars, RW Arenas of Destruction and RW Live all rolled into one.

Some things have changed from regular mods, like the assembly of spinners, crushers and some axes. They are two/three piece components that have to be mounted to a mega adapter and rotated into position. Spinners have an invisible half because the collision is only for one single tooth, so you need to hit F12 and rotate the invisible half until the collision is 180 degrees from the visible part of the drum. This does seem like time wasting but.... It does mean you hit your opponents a lot harder than before and ootas with verticals are very much possible. The motors and lips battery, believe it or not, if you get these components in real life you will get the same amount of oomph. The team is built of roboteers so we've had a play with most of these ourselves. Oh and I hope the music & sfx upgrade for the arenas and UI helps you get that RWED feel.

Thank you so much lads, either way it's great to see that you're all enjoying yourselves and you're all happy with the mod. It's nice to see that the majority of you have remembered we've done this with our spare time for the fans, and aren't complaining like they've paid us for it.

Brushless motors, the speed900, battery.... Welcome to the mod that mimics real life. The idea is that with the new components, we're educating the community with modern robotics. We've actually named them so you can look it up on hobbyking and buy it. My feather runs speed 900's on a tiny 6s lips and goes on forever.

Hit points and damage from flippers... the idea is that you can have a fair fight in terms with points. I can safely say no-one expected someone to use 8 of the twets.

What Reier said as well, the replicas have taken two years to make, the components only a week... let that sink in.
