Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas
« on: June 14, 2012, 08:01:37 AM »
I thought I'd have a go at another axlebot, Wheelosaurus. I've done the Series 4 version with the disk at the front. It's been done before and I was inspired by the person who did the other one to use the disks as wheels. I thought I could better replicate the chassis by making it on its side. It means that it lands on it's side when you start a battle, but you can right it and it is fairly controllable. I also figured I could make the dustbin lids and spikes by using more disks.

I had a go at covering the pit tyre myself (I figured out how to do it, it was suprisingly easy!) It looks kinda wierd though. The centre part of the tyre model is far too small.

Heres the extra bits like the pit button and stuff, this time in original .tga format.

Ah yes I was thinking about those extra bits. Theres the pit button, the angle grinder metal surrounds (although they are a 3d object of course) and the arena wall metal sections (the parts painted with yellow and black stripes) and the top metal strip of the arena wall. I'll upload those. The current black pit button was annoying me too.

Ok I've had another go at the components, without a cheatbot component in sight (I hope?!) I reshaped the front so that I could cram in two piglets for the weapon. I decided not to use bigger drive motors as I tried to replicate the speed of the real thing. The only slight niggle is that there is a small gap between the two halves of the weapon.

Ok'll upload the textures of all of the arenas in a zip. I wasn't sure whether there was as much interest in the others. There in sections though, so I'll piece them together like I did with the Robot Wars Arena.

I was hoping you guys would say make a new one! We could add things in such as the pit siren and things. I'm prepared to learn as well, I'd love to help make it.

Heres my Blade bot.

The real thing was a heavyweight but mine is a middleweight at 280.9. It's one of my first bots and I'm quite happy with it as a first attempt.

Looks like I'm resurrecting an old thread here...
I'm having a go at making Blade, will post pics once I've textured it. Not sure whether this project has been abandoned but I thought I'd try it anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if click uses these for dsl3 now they've been brought to light
Wow really? Well I'd be more than happy to supply the textures from RW:ED to be used in DSL3!

But I suppose the pit and flipper on the current arena wont be in the exact same position either. It'd need a lot of work but it would be worth it. There's the textures for the pit release, the control pods and everything else in the arena as well. But is there someone willing to take on this task of modding the current arena?

I have managed to extract the TV Studio arena from Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction. I thought this plan view of the arena might be useful to anyone wishing to mod or to take the plunge and create a new Robot Wars arena. I wouldn't have a clue how to make an arena so please feel free to use this image.

Sounds like plan GoldenFox93! Do you want me to upload more Panic Attack textures?

Heres the finished article, complete with reskinned body, disk and wheels. Quite happy with it as my first reskin.

Oh and I've found Panic Attack's lid.

Wait! I've fixed it!  I had saved it as 32bit, instead of 24bit.
