Yeah, it's probably just an old ram chip that got too hot or something. You don't have to replace it, bt at least take it out, it can damage your computer.

I also dual booted with windows 8 and find it pretty difficult to use without a touch screen. I'm planning to get a new tablet soon, and put windows 8 on it.

What video card do you plan to use? I can tell you if it needs direct power from the PSU (Power supply) or not.
