I think he meant the player's teams.

He's saying the game has limit to support only 16 teams and he needs at least 50 teams. Making teams one by one doesn't help that in anyway.

Yeah. It isn't as simple as just changing few files inside the game's folder and *Pooof* we have game which runs on Havok 2 engine.

Sorry. Things aren't so simple as they may look like.

47
So you are using legal downloaded version. Then you need downloaded version of the DSL-TC 2.0 mod too. But if you have already it and it still crashes...

Try to PM Clickbeetle. He might know something which we don't.

48
Yeah or   have "cd" in the "drive."

Pssst. Just between you and me Duh, I have found a torrent version which is totally working.

But there's also that if you use the real official downloaded version of the game, it doesn't need to be patched because downloaded versions of the RA2 are already patched to 1.20 version and patching them just causes downloaded version's files to be overwritten with downloaded one's and that causes some serious erros in the game.

The reason why game would lag is the Havok engine. It really couldn't handle that amount of robots because it is designed to handle max. 4 bots at the time, at least I assume so.

Also you can EASILY make the whole game lag almost to its death when you just cause two components to go through each other which weren't inside each other in the beginning of the match. Or cause the havok explosion to sink your bot to an arena's floor and that will quite surely lag like heck.

If you don't believe me, ask Clickbeetle about the wheels which he spawned in the combat arena and how the game was almost jammed all the time. If there's even two wheels or any other components inside each other and they shouldn't be like that, the havok engine can't handle it and it causes some serious lag.

I have also experienced this bot sinking and components inside each other lag moments few times.

Do you mean the claw which razor has as its weapon? If so, it's hidden as cheat part. ...I think, haven't played this game for some time.

What features they then have which for example blender doesn't?

(Blender is free.)

The area which you are suggesting might lag as heck because if two things overlap each other in RA2 that causes serious FPS dropping.

Also having mass battles is impossible because the game's exe code should be tweaked then and that's the most sh**tiest thing in the world to do because dsl-tc devs can't source code from anywhere.

Making AI smarter would require a loads of lines code to move it extremely smartly and that would require individual code to each bot which is going to be AIed.

The physics can't be fixed because those are also hard coded to the game's exe. Also there's few glitches which causes so called "havok explosions" which causes bots fly like affected by explosion wave. Also some bots may cause its components shake like mad and that causes other glitch which causes bots to fly.

And isn't this game already from year 2000 or so? So it can't look much better because the game engine can't handle the new graphics. Plus if you want to, just take a look to the real RA2 without any mods and so. You'll notice that RA2 with DSL-TC 2.0 mod is way better looking.

And modding this game isn't easy no matter how much you would produce tutorials for it because this game isn't designed to be modded and this is very old game.

All those are good ideas but they are either very hard to do or impossible with this kind of old game engine and without source code.

Try to move your components.cfz file to trash and see if that worked because those are weapons and they should be in the weapons menu under one submenu if I remember right now.

If that file's removing didn't help then you could always try to install RA2 totally all over again and then try to installa DSL on it.

Yep. RA2 isn't as finished as most of the games are these days.

Your idea wouldn't work because of two reasons.

1) First of all. When you get pinned on a wall, the AI tries to drive against you but actually you just get pinned on a wall. So you would be pinned on a wall forever.

2) Once I managed to destroy my robot in testing area. When the bot's chassis was destroyed I got the scoreboard but no one on it and also no scores on it. When I clicked ok the game crashed.

So if we turned the practice arena/testing area to fighting area, the game would crash every time when you manage to destroy your opponent and also if you can't get timer on the area you can't finish the match without crashing the game. But if you manage to add timer there most of the time would just go to that when you are pinned on walls and maybe whole match would go like that because there wouldn't be any timeout-timers.
