Discussion / Re: Twisted Metal components
« on: May 07, 2011, 05:49:37 PM »
I like twisted metal and I would like to help. But I have no experience making games. I just play them. Also you said I make twisted metal cars. You should make a showcase. Id like to see them.
Well, how do you do that?

Would be cool.  Twisted Metal is one of my most fav game series.

Though, making components like that takes a lot of effort and time... which a lot of us don't seem to have.

I blame work and school.
I blame school too!

Wouldn't it be great if someone made componentsof guns and made them work like the weapons in the Twisted metal series? I already make bots based on them.

General Support / Re: Just some component making questions
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:15:38 PM »
1. As Joe stated, all you need to do is change the base to ControlBoard in the Component.txt.

2. You can set the base to Chassis but it will cause an error if you try to attach it like a normal component. It also doesn't appear to have any effect on the armor types.

3. You can add more armor types but you can't add new textures. The format for the Armour Definitions file is:
Code: [Select]
MaterialName
Description
Texture
ArmorID WeightValue PunctureValue HeatValue ConcussionValue
To my knowledge, the Texture line doesn't do anything but be sure to use an ArmorID between 0 and 3 (inclusive). The EXE looks at the ID and uses an associated texture file (0:plastic, 1:aluminum, 2:steel, 3:titanium). The weight and concussion (becomes the chassis HP) values are the only ones that appear to be used (after being multiplied with the surface area). The puncture and heat values seem to be unused ATM but the EXE refers to them as those names.

Thanks

General Support / Just some component making questions

1. How do you make your own control board?
2. What happens if in the base in the .txt file to chassis?
3. Is it possible to make your own armor?

I may have other questions later. It would be really great if someone could answer one or all of these.

i have Unreal Tournament 2004. don't make maps or anything tho.

UT2004 was the last good UT. UT3 just doesn't have the UT feeling.
Ever play online?

I was thinking of making a tournament in whch players make robots that look like cars and fight like in a demolition derby. That would be neat!!

The only guys I found to fight would sit in their corner and do NOTHING, until I eventually got sick of waiting and moved out to fight them, and then they would run away. A ridiculous chase followed up, before I inevitably ran out of battery JUST before they did, and they would pummel me with their weapons. And I would be completely unable to do anything about it.
There's a way to get infinite battery.

Sadly, all matches are cancelled due to lack of interest.

In other words, seems like nobody actually likes being able to control your own robot  anymore.

How lame!

Is there a way to decide where the fire is shot out, and how to edit it?

I was thinking making a longer flame, or a fire extinguisher shoot the.....stuff.
