"The next robot would look like it came from some sort of a building site... a really industrial looking robot" -Chris Reynolds

Shunt is slowly taking shape.

He's basically done. Just need to do some rigging on his claw. To make the piston ram move it back and forth.

EDIT: His claw is now rigged, and is moving by the piston ram.

"So that was Matilda, then I thought I would be nice to have an army one..." -Chris Reynolds.

Yes, I know my version has the front armour looking a bit different. Lower profile, but the one in Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction and Robot Wars Extreme Destruction looks a bit too straight.

Why thanks a lot TommyProductionsInc! She'll both feature a chainsaw and a flywheel as well. Probably the last thing I need to do is that.

... and just like when I worked hard on the new one's... I should be asleep, but I simply cannot let this lie... I must be going nuts.

As for now, I've caught a cold, and I'm off to bed for now for some well deserved sleep.

"Virtual clay" can be kind of tricky to form... but I'm getting to it

Hi AWGaming2020!

Well, I didn't convert the models from the game. I used a 3D ripper (3D Ripper DX) to extract the models from the game. Then I imported them into Blender. You can find the 3D Ripper DX here.

Creativity Showcase / The modeling process of the old one's begins!

The first five, plus Refbot (Matilda, Sergeant Bash, Shunt, Dead Metal and Sir Killalot) will be easiest to make thanks to the Robot Wars games (Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction and also Robot Wars Extreme Destruction), so I'll make them first. Then onto Growler, Mr. Psycho and Cassius Chrome. And maybe... also two other less known house robots that was used after the battles... :)

Matilda's first.

so it's literally killalot 2?
Quite possibly yes  Except Crush-O-Wrecks doesn't look angry, but has a rather sadistic grin instead.

EDIT: I took inspiration from Sir Killalot and Mr. Psycho. Also to some degree, Major Damage and Goliath.

As I've been modeling on the new house robots for the reboot, I haven't had the time to make any further progress on Crush-O-Wrecks, until now.

As an additional set of protection. He's now got 50 millimeter thick armour plates, capable of deflecting any spinner at any speed.

Creativity Showcase / Rigging Dead Metal's head (SOLVED)
« on: May 09, 2020, 08:36:06 AM »
EDIT: I got help in solving this, so any moderator or administrator is free to archive this or delete it.

I don't expect anyone to know how to accomplish this, but I'm giving it a try. What I need is to move his head, along with those arms holding the head in an arc forward. But only with the upper part of the arms.

I am basically kind of stuck here, so I was thinking that maybe some other "Blenderhead" like myself knows how to solve this little problem?

EDIT: I forgot to attach the image...

It was only a question of time before I couldn't resist making some competitor robots as well. So, here is the wreaker of havoc, Carbide. Facing the biggest flipper in Robot Wars, Apollo.

This will probably hurt... a lot...

Dear community...

It makes me kind of "frightened" to see how LONG this WIP topic has existed... like, 7 years? Wow...

Anyways, I thought I would blow the dust out of this topic by saying that I AM working in Blender on a brand new model of Matilda right now! I will be making the house robots after all (no deadline set, yet...) as they appeared in 2016 to the present day.

Right now my biggest challenge is to actually model them, as Robot Wars themselves through Facebook replied to me, telling me that the plans for the house robots are highly classified...

But I won't let that stop me. I WILL be making them
Kind of funny, this was EXACTLY three years ago now. That was when my interest to first build the new one's came to mind.

I like how these look although dead metal looks a little barren and killalot could use some red eyes
Although these are based on the new one's, not the old one's. I might make the old one's someday
