I agree with Craaig, it makes no sense to only allow entries based off RW robots just because you're a RW fanboy. Allow people to "replicate" robots from other robot combat tournaments, and that might allow for more variety among the entries. -All Cheatbot2 parts except anti-ballast and to two cannons
Going by that rule, the only cheatbot2 components allowed would be the multi-extender (which I don't really see a point in using) and the hovercraft (which, if a bot used it, wouldn't be IRL realistic). Just ban cheatbot2 parts altogether. -BFE (chassis, 180 swing and component) allowed -eFFe is allowed but won't change much as I'll send it to the test garage and back -Trov Glitch allowed
If you're going to allow these building techniques to be used, then make sure the bots that use them still abide by IRL realistic rules (if you can even make a Trov Glitch bot IRL realistic to begin with). -Multibots are allowed
6 matches with 4 robots in it. 2 robots qualify. 3 head to head matches and one loser's melee from all three loser's from their QF Matched.
You do realize that, in RA2, multibots don't work in battles with more than two competing parties, right? Either make all the matches feature two competitors, or ban multibots altogether.

I love it, but I also fear it because I imagine it hits really hard. A gif of it spinning would be very nice. How does it work? The SixBird wouldn't really contribute, or am I being stupid?
My guess is that the wheels are at a height where their grip meshes are making contact with the ground but their physical meshes are not, because if they did I imagine they would lift the chassis off the ground, causing the chassis to spin on itself and rendering the SixBird useless. I could be wrong about this though.

Called it. Congrats Marty!
Well that tournament was something. Finished much later than I was expecting, but finished nonetheless. Some interesting bots and matches too.

About time I got around to making a new post here. I don't know if anyone here really builds DSL Standard bots anymore. I know I hardly do; though I've created some stuff while I was gone, only one of the robots I've created I was really satisfied with. That robot is Overclock: 798 kgs, 5mm titanium, 10 ants (to make sure it maintains a high speed throughout the match, and because I couldn't find a better use for the weight :/), 27 razors. When I built Schwarzschild Radius, my aim was to create a HW that emulated 123's MW Core Collapse Supernova in both looks and function. Though it didn't quite work like CCS like I hoped and couldn't make use of all its weapons, it was nonetheless quite effective. Overclock on the other hand forewent looks and succeeded where Schwarzschild Radius failed: acting primarily as a sweeper, but one that can surprisingly hold its own against bots that outweapon it as well. When fighting robots that can deweapon it, it usually has over 80000 points by the time it loses all of its weapons, and has damaged the opponent to an extent that it can't catch up on points, if it can even fight back. I've tested it a lot, having built it just a few months after v2.7 of NAR AI was released. From my testing, the only wedges that can beat it consistently are 123's SHW popup in his AI pack, and maybe King Rat. Then again, since the only bots I've tested it against were built in early 2012 at the latest, I don't know how it will do against more modern DSL-S bots :P And for some reason I still think I can build IRL: 248.8 kgs, 3mm plastic, 2 ants, NPC Fasts. Apparently I still had old versions of some of my NAR AI bots, and some part of me thought I could take some of the outdated standard bots and "IRLify" them. This is one of the results. My old LW SnS was converted into an IRL rammer/thwackbot hybrid. Can sometimes be dangerous.

Was seriously not expecting to receive any votes. Thanks to that one person who voted for me (whose identity I could guess easily :P)! Probably would have received more if I actually showcased, but I aim to fix this starting tomorrow.
Congrats to everyone who obtained the top spots this time, and here's hoping that 2015 will be an even better year for building!

Went and updated it: Definitely performs better than the last one, but it still tips over on a head-on collision with anything, and it can't self-right, obviously. The only thing I can do to fix this (that I know of) would be to extend the chassis wedge farther forward, but I'm strapped for weight as it is. I could either get rid of 4 of the razors on the discs or swap the DDTs for Snapper2s to get me the weight I need, but I'm not sure which of those two changes would be better.

3 years and 4 months since a bot was last showcased here... I wonder if that's a forum record.Anyway, just felt like posting something in one of my showcases before the year ended. Coincidentally, this robot happens to be a rebuild of the last robot I posted here: DSA, 2 Supervolts, 120cm wedges. This was one of several designs that I considered entering into Robots in Space, but ultimately didn't for several reasons. The main one being that, under AI control, it doesn't drive well at all in the Starcore Arena. Not only this, but despite my attempts at making it even more HS-proof than previous versions, it manages to perform even worse against HSs. Unstable and only average wedges as well. Despite all this, I don't want to give up on this design because I know it has potential, but since I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a decent setup I wouldn't mind if anyone gave me some input on how to improve it.

And another lucky win for me, and the multibots as well. Disappointed that RedAce didn't win his match as well: we could have had a Last Rites vs Electric Boogaloo showdown in RA2. GG dude, glad you're still in it, EBony its a cool bot.
Thanks, and GG to you for your last match. as Avalanche said, you won that match fair and square, pinning is also a strat.
Maybe you're right. I just don't consider pinning a real method of winning especially when the pinned robot is still perfectly capable of controlled movement. IMO You can hold them for a few seconds but you have to let go. No matter: there are no rules allowing free restarts for pinned robots and the matches have been uploaded, so best to just proceed with the tournament. Still confident Gamo can win the whole thing.
You've definitely got your next match in the bag. I'm a bit more optimistic after seeing the outcome of the fake rematch between us two, but knowing my luck it's highly likely that won't happen again. In all honesty though you don't stand a chance against Trinity 4ce , but again who knows what will happen? Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too!

No real surprises in the remaining round 1 matches (BTW, good match Agaton), or the second LB round 1 fight (rimp in peace Axe Bot). I'm happy that EB got underneath Panzer Strike at least, but I feel that I didn't deserve that win since Panzer Strike was pinned against the wall.
Round 2 predictions:
Match E: Gamo. Hard to call this one because it largely depends on which MW Gamo goes after first. I lean toward Gamo just because even though it might not cause as much damage to the VS, it can certainly push it around with ease.
Match F: Trinity 4ce. Reluctant to call this one as well after seeing the outcome of round 1 match 3, but faster drive, a weapon that's harder to stop, and a better protected chassis give Trinity 4ce the advantage that Roboenza didn't have.

I agree with Badnik, it does look great, though I can't help but feel you can get better side supports for the drums.

Getting better! You can get rid of one of those Supervolt batteries; believe it or not, one is enough to power all of the motors in there right now. The chassis could also use a bit more shrinking, and you still have another ~350 kgs to use on weapons or external armor.

NFX. Man I really miss that guy.
Same here. DSC was also pretty cool. Also, anyone here remember trumpetguy? All in all I can think of way too many members from before I left that are now inactive. Things really have changed.

Hard to tell how you can improve your bots just from the preview pictures; next time take screenshots of the bots in the botlab, and show the insides of them as well. For general advice on how to improve the bots, you can start by shrinking the chassis on most of them. By doing this, you'll gain the weight for more weapons. Speaking of which, iron fists, sledgehammers, and sawblades aren't ideal weapons for competitive building because they don't cause much damage and don't have much HP either. As for wheels, shiny hub wheels are the most preferred because, apart from size and weight, all of the stock wheels have the same stats, but shinies are the lightest wheels as well as one of the smallest. Also, I'm a bit late on this but welcome to GTM! Hope you enjoy it here, and enjoy RA2 as well.

It looks really good, but I'm confused as to how the motor's attached. If it's not attached to one of the cage extenders, then what is it attached to?

I've been in the process of moving for the past few months, and one of the things I found while digging through my old stuff was this: Not sure how I should feel about this.

Quite the interesting selection of bots we have here.
Panzer Strike: Very well armored. Even with the minimal weaponry, I can see this doing very well.
Roboenza: I too worry about the weapon spinning too slowly, but it still looks great.
Trinity 4ce: IMO the best looking out of all the entries, and probably the deadliest too. Definitely my pick to win the tournament.
EBony: I think it does a good job of emulating the robot it was based off of, but its lack of a decent wedge and speed will be its downfall in this tournament.
Playzooki Multibots: Neither of them are really great in either looks or effectiveness, but if that wedge has a flamethrower, then the team might stand a chance against some of the other entries.
Axe Bot: Second best looking robot here. Too bad that axe doesn't look capable of any real damage.
Android: Looks decent, but I think those drums are going to spin too slowly to beat some of the bots here.
Gamo: I'm really not sure what to think about this.
As for my first match... I'm gonna lose. Even though I really don't know what my opponent is capable of, its usage of metal hinge wedges means an instant loss for me.
Other first round winners: Panzer Strike, Roboenza, and Trinity 4ce.

Blade barrier was just a ripoff of Ounce's trapper, wasn't it?
Yes it was: (Image removed from quote.)
OK so mine had a piston, but I still came up with the weapon design first. On topic, nice shell spinner RedAce. I like how it incorporates both horizontal and vertical flails as well as the static weapons for whenever it goes into spikeball mode.
