Yeah, i'll admit I was going to wait a while, probably after the next round of tourneys have been deicided and are underway, to start a discussion topic, but I was feeling a bit anxious to see what everybody thought about the idea

Besides, the idea seems to be well-received, and I'm pretty sure I can host this without messing it up, besides, it's in my interest to prove myself with this and not do what some other people have done with their first tourneys.
OK then, thats fine :P
Just make sure you don't mess it up  ;)
Believe me, I really don't want to.
I'd love to be able to do more tourneys, maybe even with this idea (4 way SHW spinner battles FTW ;P)

Apple headphones suck. Really tiny bass, sand-ish higher frequencies, too much middle.
I disagree, i'll agree that their is more middle but the bass isn't that far back if you ask me (although TBH I do prefer less bass), maybe it's just the album your listening to ;P

Anyway, usually poor quality headphones have far too much bass.

I wonder what happened to Chaos 2 after it was rebuilt?
Still used for live events now and then I believe.
Well I've never seen it in the 6 years I've been going to live events for...
Really?
I've seen videos of it that were about 2006ish I believe.
I'm not sure TBH though, you probably know more about this than me, sadly I haven't been to a live event yet  :frown:

I have had the same apple headphones for 4-5 yeas now.. never a single drama with them...

high cost products are worth it in the long  run
QFT
I bought some headphones that were about 25-30 pounds and they're brilliant.
Comfortable and brilliant quality audio and had them for about 4 months and they haven't broke yet (which is very impressive considering how often I use them)

And joe, do you mean the headphones that come with the ipod?
They are very good (even though they aren't in ear), and i've got an extra pair now my new ipods arrived

but I wanted something close-quaters and diidn't want to give HS too much of an advantage.

just throwing this out there... my CC qualifying arena in CCAI 1 ? its basically just the small arena with low walls ? I can help you skin it if need be ?
*c*
Actually, that's a great idea for the arena joe, thanks, is it up for download here?
I'm going to have a go at skinning myself (it's the best way to learn how i think), thanks very much for the offer though.

Hmm...well a ban on wedges might not be too healthy for, say, face-spinners (I like face-spinners).
Seriously, I'm interested in this. I don't really play anymore but this looks like something right up my alley. So, yeah, we'll see.
Well I hope you do enter
I'm surprised the no wedges idea didn't get shot out the water TBH, but you know, I never said anything about chassis wedges  :laughing

E-tek drive is too bulky and heavy to be much use for anything IMO.
I'd just use npc fasts to save weight and sp.ace

haha this is quite similar to a tournament series I planned to be my annual occurring one but then CC became to popular :P

Mine was to be called TNT (Twist N Turn)

Spinners only, Rumbles, etc

but I was going to use the Blade Arena for more spinning fun

sounds cool, even though I didn't give you the idea im happy to see such a tournament created
Haha, I thought it would be your kind of thing, although i'm pleasantly surprised to hear you had the same idea
I was thinking about putting it in the blade arena or tournamet arena aswell actually, but I wanted something close-quaters and diidn't want to give HS too much of an advantage.

SnS/HS Hybrids allowed?
I should have known you would try and bend that rule, but yeah, i'll allow sns/other spinner type hybrids then.

Well heres an idea i've thought about for a while, and I think i'm able to host a successful tourney now (or I hope atleast  :laughing )

- The weight class is going to be DSL 2.1 HW
- cheatbot2, custom and AI components are NOT allowed, neither are BFE or AAM.
- DSL realistic rules apply (so yeah you can push it a bit, not too much though)
- One havok restart for each bot, if a bot havoks twice it forfeits the match
- Multibots aren't allowed either

Now for the interesting parts

The brackets are going to be 4 4 way battle royals with the last 2 survivors going through where they'll face a bot from the next 4 way bracket in a deathmatch and then on it stays to a traditional deathmatch set up with a 3rd place playoff aswell as the final.

Whic bots will face which in the second round are gonna be decided on points (i.e the surviving bot with the least points in bracket 1 faces the surviving bot with the most in bracket 2 and vice versa)

The bots entered MUST be a spinner, i.e shell, face, horizontal, vertical, drum, juggler, full body
SnS are only allowed if they are a hybrid between SnS and another spinner type (e.g SnS face hybrid)
Bots are also not allowed component wedges.
Component wedge = anywedge that's mounted on another component.
So no mako, skirt, metal hinge or MCB wedge(whatever that is).
Basically the only kind of wedge i'm allowing is a chassis wedge, because they're useless.

No hybrids are allowed either unless the bot types mixed are spinners.
No flails either, sorry but I don't want the havok mess.

The matches are going to be in a skinned CC one qualifying arena which you can see here
.

I can AI if needs be, but i'd recomend that you do it yourself if you can.
The prize is simply going to be the skin, and ofcourse bragging rights

I used Chicken motors to power the discs, because I couldn't get any of the big motors to fit.  But you could probably pull it off with Piglets if you don't mind having an underpowered weapon.
Well i just used flat motors, how did you get the disks at that angle and that far down though? Mine are too far up ATM because I'm putting them on baseplate anchors.

I attached a 90-60 flippermaker to an inverted 90-degree baseplate extender.
Brilliant, thanks!

Most of the top builders are more active in their DSL showcases i think.
If DSL is all about the wedges then once again how are shell spinners or sns still popular?
Anyway, we're offtopic here...
