Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Robot Wars is back! Sort of...« on: February 28, 2013, 01:32:23 AM »
The purpose of it is kind of defeated, though. You'd want a Class 1 arena for spinners, but if there's too many events to make the reintroduction of spinners sustainable in terms of repair time and money.. they'd be fine with what they have.
Ofcourse Vertigo isn't the only roboteer in the world, but the situation shouldn't be much different for a majority of active participants. 384

At the same time, there is a major category of robots (referring to spinners, but I haven't seen any crushers or hammers at all) being disallowed from competing to begin with. You can forgo the Robot Wars arena, the house robots, as iconic as they are, but the destruction and mayhem they touted was fundamental to selling the show.

Stock Showcases / Re: 090901's Showcase 2: Electric Boogaloo« on: February 27, 2013, 03:59:42 AM »
Let's be honest here, this was coming for stock. Since we left the days of using all of the components regardless of efficiency, introduced no realism rules, stacking, snapper loading, caster armor... it was all leading to this. The perfect design. Now that it has happened, we can't throw our toys out of the pram.
EDIT: GTM didn't show me the last page. I thought Venko's rant was the last post and I'm on cellular data.. 386

This is excellent news.
I guess the one thing we're missing now is an arena safe enough to let more then flippers and rammers participate. At least that's my understanding of the current situation. 387
Contests / Re: Vote BOTM March 2013« on: February 25, 2013, 06:24:16 AM »
.. Ah, I forgot it was also a popup. I've done stupider things.

I'm baffled as to how #1 beat AC, but #3 is more presentable on the homepage I'd say.

I don't suppose anyone minds another 27 month bump. x)
![]() Yes. I made this for the March 2013 BOTM... back on the 5th. I forgot to send it off 20 days in a row. Sadly now it can't have the anonymous factor it would of. x) Clearly it would of won the BOTM hands down. ![]() And here's something something to balance out the crap. It's a popup! It's probably the only modern stock design I am capable of with exception to a rammer. 390
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Red's Robotic Hall of Lame - DSL Edition« on: February 24, 2013, 05:15:21 PM »
Just having some fun. Perhaps this should be in the Replica thread, but at the same time it's not done yet.
![]() It's a MW. Weapon uses that dual core Magmotor. 391

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Red makes crap and you're supposed to like it Custom Showcase« on: February 23, 2013, 07:53:06 PM »
I'm pesimistic about how much I can help the DSL project. This is all low-level stuff in a way. A few values changed here, a few values changed there, on GMFs that are fairly small. The complexity of some of the parts in DSL is perhaps unfeasible to work on, let alone achieve in Wordpad.

I believe a rebuild of the AI would be out of necessity if we'll be making components redundant like the reversed RAD, if not because they are sh**. As for the standard of building, that's not for me to decide.

That's good because I'm doing a total overhaul of stock right this second x) I've been rebalancing weapons to an efficiency of ~25000 and stuff for the last 3 days for a sudden reveal when I was ready. I'll gladly let the cat out of the bag to work on a more organized project.

Even deeper now, deeper then before. Ooooooh.
![]() I've now repositioned the axle of the Reversible Angle Motor and added another attachment point on top of the motor. so the Reverse style of the motor is no longer needed. The bot shown demonstrates this, along with the custom battery packs (I still need someone to help me with how they collide with the top of the chassis). I haven't changed the texture of the RAD yet. |
