where do you get the parts with the warningstripes on from?
I used the Material tool, the warning stripes are default now since Phoenix Storms props are now an official part of Garry's Mod.

I don't know much about Garry's Mod, but don't you have a first person view of everything? It would be like Orbit view in RA2 I think.
Depending on what 'arena' that'll be used for the tournament, I assume the mapmakers have made the 'booths' for the GMod roboteers to use to control their bot while overlooking the arena instead of no clipping about the place.

I know how to weld but my creations keep wobbeling.
I want this not to happen:
(Image removed from quote.)
There is a certain way to weld components together without the wobble, sadly you might have to search this up as I was having the same issue with a plate that was originally on the end of my flipper to ease its way under other bots. So you're not on your own dude.

*wipes forehead* phew! Thank goodness!! Haha, Bowler. I think MOST of us want his place, lol. Anyway dudes, here's the workshop to my bot: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=368483810 - Tubthumping Mk2 is ready. Note; Please don't steal this bot and enter it as your own, and please don't modify it.

After your post about the fixing of bots with weight and such, is the tournament today? Oh no!

There's been an update to the rules about realism.
It has been changed from:
** = Realism is what we aim for. If me or KOS believe that the robot is not realistic enough, you'll be asked to change the bot.
To:
** = Realism is what we aim for. Realism ONLY applies to how the bot manoeuvres. The way it's designed doesn't matter too much however, we can still disqualify you if we have a good reason too. If me or KOS believe that the robot is not realistic enough, you'll be asked to change the bot.
So is using thrusters to turn the bot left and right okay? Unless we're experienced with the WireMod (which I am not), there's no other way to turn our bots.

I used to make flippers just using the ballsocket & thruster tool. The ballsocket for the flipper hinges and the thruster for the power. But now I use hydraulics, more unpredictable... And slightly more realistic..

How do you get yours to turn so well? I can't get thrusters to do that.
Well I used thrusters lol :3 Sadly due to YouTube being a moron during video processing I can't upload a tutorial that goes into detail with it. But thank you, (if you were talking about my bot lol) maybe this could be my bots strength? A good turning circle! xD

Are you still doing the tutorial videos?
Yes. I will be doing them myself because I have a much sexier voice than KOS.
DP, lol
It took 5 hours and two failed prototypes, but I have emerged with a finished robot! (Image removed from quote.) no clue how heavy it is but considering its pretty darn big i'd class it in the superheavies.
Yeah that might be too heavy/big
If you upload it to the workshop and send me the link, we'll compare it with our own.
Awesome, some new entries. So, when is this going to happen? I live in the UK so GMT please ^^
The new dates will be reconsidered by myself and KOS. We'll post them when we've decided.
Firstly, welcome RoboBowler and Tibsy. You two and Badnik can send me your bots so me and KOS can decide what weight class they'd go in. We're not saying that they are your final entries, we're just comparing them with our own so you can get an idea of what size your robot has to be.
I'll make the tutorials in the morning.
Sup. Firstly, thank you and Happy new Year. Well I have a few bots to enter though... Its a shame you have a multi-bot rule. My main problem is choosing a bot to enter as I do have low-confidence with my entries so I might play around with Tubthumping (the bathtub bot) for a bit. I'll send you a link once I've finally decided, haha!

I'll enter the event, I've got alot of experience with Garry's Mod.
Here's a demo of my robot I want to enter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwdLRV89-Rg&feature=youtu.be
I can't think of a name for it
That's the problem when you get the freedom to build stuff, you can't think up anything to build, or think up a name for your build. LOL. What I did was reference to what my bot was built from, for example it has an upturned bathtub on it, so I called it TUBthumping. Tub being a reference to the bathtub and Tubthumping being a reference to Chumbawumba, haha.

wouldn't that cause some lag issues ?
That really depends on how good the server is and also your connection to it. And also the bots people have made aren't that big so if we keep them at that size we would avoid lag to an extent.

how does this look? (Image removed from quote.) the thing at the top spins at a pretty high velocity Also, how will they fight since there is no AI system? They will fight while controlled by the user that built & owns the bot. Simple :3

I've got Garry's Mod and have played a gamemode called 'Garry's Bots' way back in 2009. I would love for more people to take part in this. And also, there are already some people who have made their own version of the Robot Wars arena in the map maker. No need to cluster the servers up with homemade arenas using the props. Anyways. I'm in! Here's my bot: And my map suggestion: I've even gone the full way to make some arena accessories, for example: The Pinball Warrior Tournament, so far I've made the ramp and multiball release. The barrels, sphere & multiballs are obviously there but they're not builds of course! lol.

I'm familiar with Robot Arena 2 in terms of the game but not with the cult following that it has accumulated. I've looked at everyone else's bots that are an amalgamation of spinners with spikes and such and after seeing all the AI Bots made by the members of the community for the DSL or Starcore packs makes me lose faith a little when building my own bots which all seem to be just wedges with flippers and axes..
I need some help on how I can improve my building skills, anyone with any advice?
Cheers - Tibsy
