That's better, although I don't think this needs to be an UHW... You could probably downgrade this to a SHW and have it just as effective.

I hope you find time to work on this, I quite enjoyed the short time I had with it.

i really hope you aren't planning on keeping burst motors for the final game, they're probably the least realistic part of ra2

Realistic pneumatic systems would be lovely, but that's getting quite ahead of ourselves in these early stages. For now, as a placeholder, I say they're alright.

If we have people who can pay the fees and people to administrate, let them fill their respective roles. It looks like supporting the site can be done by one or more volunteers. In terms of running everything, that's a different discussion - ACAMS is only transferring the financial obligations. But we've definitely had lots of comments on appointing new administrators in the past, so if that's something to work on alongside deferring the hosting fee I think it's a good time. I'm hoping it can be a decision between ACAMS, Trov, and whomever pays the bills (after they've been chosen), supported by the community. Let's sort out the payments first.

What you guy's haven't thought about and some may not even know is that I am nearly 60 ...... I have other stuff to think about, hell, I have grandchildren older than most of you and the oldest granddaughter needs a new car.
Life changes and interests  change ....... I retired from here long ago, now I want to retire from the expense.
Plus, when you get my age there is the chance that I may forget to wake up one day ...... then what?

Are you going for a realistic style with this, or a competitive style?

If you're going realistic, yeah, it's... Not half-bad. It's nothing special, but, keep practicing and pushing it to the limit, yo.

Tried this out, got 7:35

Tryna take the record, huh?

NOT EVEN CLOSE BAYBEE

Sub 7 minutes is totally possible. When somebody gets sub 7, then the real challenge will start.

I don't know whether or not to count that as a genuine run, because you already had a chassis pre-built that wasn't Crush's...

I'll time it regardless, see what you come in at.

EDIT: 9:41.955! It's a new WR!

EDIT: NO! It's not a new WR! You're on Season 5, which means you haven't started from a fresh install!

How do you get the speedrun thing on the side?

It's a piece of software called Livesplit. Download it, set it up, and use it whilst playing RA2. Then use OBS to composite all the footage together in real-time.

i was midway through recording a popup run when i screwed it up

i also recorded a run with an hs that was like 10:11 or something, my guess is the lost time was because i made my own chassis

Yeah, it took me about 15 or so tries to get this done. Stay persistent, keep trying!

Making your own chassis could save time since you dont have to delete the old components or change the armor like you did with Walrus, and a popup chassis is just a rectangle with one side sloped.  you probably could just use a chassis wedge since none of the stock ai MWs have real wedges

Dementia can surprisingly get under you quite easily, or at least it can to the bot I used in the run.

Hey, perhaps you should record a run with you using a popup! Then they'll be some real competition to beat. How bout it?

Did a little test.
With the weight allowed and the time to kill opponents with it, MW is the best choice.

Wow, okay. Just made that bot off of instinct, didn't know it was actually the best method.

did a couple runs and you really don't need to repair your robot between matches, the ai bots are such a joke that you rarely break anything even in the finals

i also think popup > hs in terms of speed but i need to do a few more test runs on that

Why didn't you record that!? Sounds like we might have some competition for the WR...

Seriously, y'all, record any attempts or PB's you get. Let's make this into a real thing.

Popup > HS could be a possibility, but that'd mean you'd need to build a new chassis, which would take up too much time IMO.

Weight class?

Any weight class is allowed to be used in the run, whichever you think'll get the game done quickest. For this run, I went for MW.

The first RA2 speedrun is done, and will be uploaded in the next few hours. Strat is pretty self-explanatory, as is the splits and all that.

RULES:
Stock, fresh install (i.e. no existing or importable bots in garage, stock AI, only team is the rookies, no cheaty AI or arenas, no RA2CF, 3rd party components, tools, etc.)
Timer starts when you click into the garage from the main menu, stops when you see the golden sawblade
Time includes building a bot
To be verified, runs must be recorded and uploaded
No Cheatbot2

Discussion / Re: Robot Arena 2 Speedrun?

I don't see why turning off arena intros should be disallowed. It's like changing the text speed to past in pokemon speedruns.

I never said it shouldn't be allowed, I'm just wondering if it can be done before the start of a run, or during the run itself.
