The added touch screen/microphone features were poorly implemented, Conker and Banjo were removed,
I think that's because they were made by Rare, they lost the rights to them.
Rare made the port as well, but yeah, those characters were removed due to licensing issues. Microsoft owns the publishing rights to the Rare characters, so they had to remove them from the joint venture with Nintendo.

The original Diddy Kong Racing was my first game for N64. It introduced us to Banjo, Conker, Krunch (later used in some non-Rareware developed Nintendo titles like the Mario soccer games) and Tip Tup (minor character in the original Banjo-Kazooie). I absolutely loved this game! While most people brag about Mario Kart 64, I've always felt as though this was the superior game. The characters were all 3D models, the upgradable items system was ingenious, and the adventure mode made single player more satisfying.
The DS remake was a huge letdown. The added touch screen/microphone features were poorly implemented, Conker and Banjo were removed, the items upgrades worked in a worse way (Ex. Red Balloon--1 missile->5 missiles->Homing missile), the boss battles were changed in such a way that racing was no longer the focus, and the new voices for all the characters sucked.

Get some noise isolating headphones. Skullcandy has some for around $15-$20. They'll break after a few months, but they're good while they last.

In terms of uses for the Wii-U, A sequel to Eternal Darkness could be amazing.
Not sure who owns the rights to that one. Silicon Knights developed that, and they are no loner with Nintendo. If Nintendo owns the rights to it, however, they could easily have one of their others teams tackle it (Retro Studios, perhaps) or license it out to a third party like Capcom.

Xbox 180- Microsoft's debut in handheld gaming.
Not gonna happen. If anything, Microsoft will try to push gaming on its Windows Phone OS and Windows 8 for tablets.

It doesn't help that I hate every platformer involving Mario, I'm not a fan of Mario Kart, and I CBA to try Zelda, let alone buy a console just for it.
Oh, and apparently, the Wii U hardware will be the same as the current gen 360/PS3. If so, this is another huge fail.
Nintendo are going bust, trust me. It will sell very poorly outside the Nintendo fanbase because the Wii was so terrible.
The Wii U will do fine. Here's why: -Nintendo Exclusives -It comes out at least a year ahead of Sony and Microsoft's next offerings -Offers an experience you can't get anywhere else -Backwards compatible with the highly successful Wii and Wii accessories It may not do well with the teenagers who are too focussed on trying to seem more "adult", but it'll do well with families, non-gamers, and us older people who don't care about indulging our inner child.

You could use the Wii U for smacking your head against for the simple gumption that they think they could release such tat.

Characters: I actually hope that they don't add a bunch of new characters. They should have a Melee-sized roster, and eliminate all clones. Any new characters should replace older characters. With some old characters missing, and some new characters with unique move sets added, this sequel would feel like a sequel, and not just a patch or a mod.
Also, since there will be a 3DS and a Wii U build, each version should have a different roster, but should allow some sort of cross-compatibility anyway. Example: Wii U could have Fox, and 3DS could have Falco. Wii U could have Ganondorf, and 3DS could have Ridley. Stuff like that.
Stages: There should be lots of stages, like in Brawl. Tons of new ones, the best of the old ones, and a more in-depth stage builder. This should be really easy to do with the Wii U Gamepad and the 3DS.
With the two versions of the game, they should have different sets of stages (with some remaining the same). The Wii U should focus on bigger stages that take advantage of today's HD TVs. Design-wise, they should recreate scenery from Nintendo's home console games. The 3DS should focus on smaller stages. Design-wise, they should recreate scenery from their handhelds. Pewter City gym, maybe?
Multiplayer: Good online is a must. All the features that you'd expect from Xbox Live, but with a friendly Nintendo touch. The social networking features Nintendo showed in that Nintendo Direct demo were impressive. I want to see that here!
Controls: The controls have been fine. Keep 'em the same.
Second Screen/Touch Screen: I have no idea what this could be used for.

I live in Washington (state) and would feel weird meeting you kids. You're all too damn young.
I'm of legal drinking age, which would make me over the age of consent, as well... Should I mention I am easy to seduce?
If you buy me enough drinks, maybe.

What was the name of the old site HX and grawss started after aceuplink went down?
It was green and something like RA-Reborn, but I can't find anything.
RA-Reborn, and it was started as B4B (Bots4Battle) was ending. AceUplink ended later.

Windows 8 is a sh** OS for a desktop environment. It's a good tablet OS, however.

Just bought Seventh Star by Black Sabbath. It's probably the worst Sabbath album and features Tony Iommi as the lone original member.

existence without God or heaven seems to me rather short, brutal, and utterly meaningless, and I'll leave it at that.
Exactly. Life is short and meaningless (brutal doesn't have to apply to all), which is why you should spend what little time you have enjoying yourself. Why wait for an afterlife when you could be out living it up with this one?

Heh, I knew a discussion about religion would bring frezal out of hiding.
By the way, God never actually said he hates gay people; he just reeeally doesn't like them having sex.
Yeah, because he can't get any.
You have a point. He hasn't fathered any children for at least 2000 years.
Even then, it was just him in disguise.
