Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Robotics Questions MEGATHREAD

What are the best combat robotics sites to refer to when looking for local competitions?  United States would be most important to me, but other countries would be good for other members.  Whenever I google search I get a ton of dead links and old expired crap.

Congrats to the winner.  It was cool to see both of those bots reach the finals.

I think NFX would make a great mod for that section, mainly because he is active and would likely have his organization nailed.

Apparently the makers of chip hit the "chassis height lowering limit" and decided to make it 8 wheel drive eh?

Great matches. I am soooo glad you are finishing this up. I will put my Craaig voodoo doll away now.

I have but 1 last thing to ask - it's pretty clear we're not getting any KOs, so would people mind if (after round 1, to keep it fair) I reduced round time to 2 RA2 minutes? Just means I won't run out of space on my increasingly full hard drive :P

Sounds pretty cool to me. You get my of approval.

iThink it will bw flae weite 124 or les

I'm naming my next bot "flae weite".  Though I still haven't made a bot to represent "Moggot Soup".

Man, I love it when ACAMS drinks.  So inspiring.

Do not let silence fool you.

I can guarantee, with any tournament, that anyone who built a bot and entered cares.

Just sayin'

Nice bots.  Both are underweight though.  You should work on trying to maximize the weight limit... it is best for the health of your bot.

I also liked the "Got Wood?" message someone had written there. Maybe that should be your slogan if you ever decide to re-enter Johnny 2x4.

Agreed.  Your team tee-shirts are already printed and available on eBay thanks to "shaun of the dead".

Wow. Good luck dude!  Had I known about your project earlier... I would have Paypal-ed you some money for sponsorship and requested you tape a picture of Scrap Daddy's avatar on the bot.

Aside from Battlebots, anyone ever tried making actual mechs?
....One of these days, I'll go digging my bucket out and photograph some of the ones I made.
(Which are basically standard K'Nex-dude torsos + custom limbs)

Whoa... holy carp.  You just gave me an insane idea.  I think I have a pile of Robotix somewhere in my closet.  I wonder if I can construct something using both kits.

I think this is the kit I have:  (image stolen from the internets)

Controller and electronics are long gone... but most of the parts and pieces are still somewhere.  hmmmmmmm....

Man. That game looks like fun.  While it is terribly unrealistic, it still looks like it was playable and could have been a decent bargain bin game.

Do the red panels on the legs keep coming off when you make it walk?

Nope. They seem to stay on pretty good.  A true test will be if they will stay on if I use them as some sort of saw-type weapon.

Dove into Knex for the first time this past weekend.  Got a kit as a gag-gift for Christmas a couple few months ago because my folks saw the word "battlebot" on the back of the package.  XD

Built it up in a couple hours.  Now I gotta tear it down and follow the trend of making something DSL-ish with the parts.
