Component balance plays a much bigger role in diversity than getting the physics engine to function exactly as real life. Actually if RA2 perfectly emulates real life physics it will be quite boring to play.
Yes, but there is no reason to invest time and money in creating a new game if it turns out to be just another RA2, amirite?
I am suggesting that a new Mod will suffice. The RA2 engine is fine.
No. a) It's outdated, so it doesn't offer fancy graphics or physics b) It's buggy as  c) It's closed-source

It's surprisingly tasty. Here's mine from yesterday. I had no cocoa so I just threw in some more flour and cinnamon and it was quite good. About 2 minutes in a 1.3kW microwave.

Depends on your OS, and if it were he should have more than 2.98 usable. IMVHO it's Windows' way to tell you "hey, I allocated this-and-that memory for the kernel and I also preallocated that much for processes (Windows Vista and up do that IIRC) so that they spawn faster, so hey, malloc(), new, and all those silly user-space processes will only be able to use 3GB unless we get tight on memory (Vista and 7 do that IIRC)". I'll check for this behavior on my 7 box tonight.
