Sometimes you need to make generic killers first to be able to be creative killers.

Saint: System32's and Sparkey's advice can be a bit off at times, look out....

Tell Pwn that. or STW. Pretty much the reverse of generic to creative.

Have you seen the first page of Pwn's showcase?  A generic poker, a generic popup, and a generic 36HS. The best way to learn the ropes is to try deigns already done before and compare them to see what you can do better. Reverse engineering and trying to make the original even better is a very interesting challenge in itself.

No, I haven't had the time. I'll do it tomorrow if I get the chance.

JD- Yea, doesn't work in my DSL. However, it does work in one of my many stock games, and I just have to find the one little nuance that allows this >:)

Then I can distribute it and the Trov. Glitch will work in all tournaments.

Does the one on the bottom right work in the test garage of your DSL game?

That is another attachment point on blue snappers.  I think it is the main way that the experts are able to make those amazing compact horizontal spinners in stock.

Personally, I hate that attachment point.  Whenever I make a bot and save it... the attachment point changes locations even if I dont rotate the snapper... therefore screwing up my bot.  I don't understand how some builders manage to use that connection point so efficiently.

Think of it like this:

That secret AP acts like a servo. When you go garage and back, it will always return to its original position, which is shown by the little black square.

Discussion / Re: Realistic rules for DSL
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:17:43 PM »
Ok, I think we need a LEGIT, ACCEPTED realistic RULE for GENERAL DSL building. Here's my take:

DSL REALISTIC RULES

1. Objects may not pass through other objects when a slot could not be made in real life. If the slot is too large where the functionality of the bot would be severely compromised if it WAS cut in real life, it is not acceptable.
2. Batteries may not be stacked.
3. No chaining motors.

That's the way I have been doing it, and that's the way I think it should be done. Things like extender strength, chassis shapes, wiring (trying to imagine how it would be wired in real life) and things of that nature are too complicated to be applicable in DSL. Remember, the main point of the realistic rule is to prevent heavily stacked spinners like we see in stock all the time.

Thoughts?

The only "realistic" rule is the one that says things cant go through other things. Everything else is too complicated and not applicable to RA2.

Dude, MC Hammer was my bot, and it won BOTM. (Said "Can't Touch This" on the bottom xD)

I suck at names, which is partly the reason I just find a cool word that sorta kinda matches with what the bot does using a thesaurus...

Tit 1. 8 medium beater bars. 4 ants. Chassis made with Trov. Glitch. 245.7 kgs.

For some reason my stock game can handle the chassis but my DSL crashes if it loads it into any arenas. So, that means I have done no testing :/
No matter, you can critique anyways.

Thoughts?

You can just download the game from S32's sig (if it's still there) and then you don't even need to install it.

No it's not.

Try this: Get Camstudio for free, then record your screen while you play RA2, like in my tutorial videos.

Download the one in my sig. The difference is that it will work the first time you try it, and you won't have to ask any questions about extracting or where to save things or what not. It's 95% fool proof.

How about BOTM with no splash at all?

Like this:

and then some stats if need be, like I would have to tell people this bot has 2 plows.
