DSL TC Showcases / Re: Pwnator's DSL Showcase

I would say take the back stabilizers and make them plastic, make the front wedges aluminum, and remove the top beater bars on the wedge plates. Take that weight and see what you can do with it. If you really need to, I would say switch the beater bars on the weapon bar (some or all) and switch them to normal extenders.
Use the weight either for some kind of static srimech, one attached to the piston, or in the worst case scenario, just a dedicated srimech.

You should have given Hydra a more dinosaur themed name. It looks vicious with all of those spikes :D

To get you up to speed...

ACAMS owns this forum and runs it with Goose (he is not here much). Clickbeetle, Madiaba, Darkrat (who is not here pretty much ever anymore), and Starcore are Admins here. JoeBlo and kill343gs are Global Moderators, and Pwnator and Naryar moderate the Showcase sections, with Trovaner moderating the main RA2 section.

We have had eFFeeMMe, Luigica, kraZy, razer, MiniDJBeirne, MAD Scientist, and a few others show up from the old forums. Rolo also came and stayed for a while until he got pissed and left because he got annoyed. frezal is also here to stay, along with Serge (MegaVolt), who recently has been exploring the .exe of RA2, and has slayed weight limits, learned to edit the banner bar, and it is highly anticipated to see if he can slay the rule of 7 and the max sphere. Currently, he is away from his computer on a vacation. Infiniteinertia was here before as well, but was driven off by n00bs. Sage has been trying to get him back though...

Clickbeetle now runs the Number 1 most successful AI Tournament, BBEANS. We never do online tournaments anymore. The bots are AIed and put in a bracket after being sent to a single user. The 6th BBEANS Tournament is so far the most popular, being the first to fill a 64 Bot Bracket. The Winners so far were Polinator (Cooker) in BBEANS 1, MikeNCR in BBEANS 2, ACAMS in BBEANS 3, Naryar in BBEANS 4, and Firebeetle in BBEANS 5. tons of other AI Tournaments are around though, there are guides everywhere for AIing.

To get up to speed on building, start a showcase. RA2 is easily available, with Ready to play versions of both 1.3 Stock and DSL 2.1. Also many other mods, Like the Starcore v4 Alpha, and NAR AI v2.3, which is for DSL (rebalancing the parts and stronger AI). You will be amazed at how far botbuilding has come. Just about everything in DSL is related to efficiency now. It has to be to win.

We have an extensive RA2Wiki, stocked with pages on nearly all of the bots that have competed in BBEANS, (besides BBEANS 3, which I have to finish, and BBEANS 5, which Pwnator is finishing). It also has tutorials, info, info on AI Packs, and random other bits.

Currently, the forum n00bs have been life robot arena2 (LRA2), who was banned and rejoined as Avalanche. He does not show up much anymore. He is like an 8 or 9 year old kid. The other has been Sparkey98, but after losing in Craaigs "Not Overly Epic Showdown" (NOES) to Avalanche, he learned to listen to advice a bit (his main downfall). Sparkey has been much better lately though. He is claimed to be leaving, but we all know that he will be back soon. He always is.

The forum troll highly opinionated user is System32, followed closely in second by frezal, and 3rd is ACAMS whenever he is talking about Obama and black people in general.

Forum memes would happen to be Pikabob (my avatar, it started a forum-wide avatar craze. Twice.) Another is Spinner from the west (SFTW, an epic fail of a bot that competed in BBEANS 3), which is used to signify a failbot. "Threads Like This" is used for fail threads here on the forums. A ROBO Smiley is a poorly drawn smiley drawn in MS Paint, used to signify awesomeness

Think thats about it. Welcome to GTM, start a showcase, and stay a while.

PS: Just because you were a member of the old forums, you instantly are well respected by just about everyone here.
And you cannot leave now. I just spent forever typing this post. XD

Claw Cube will still win though.

@Nary: What I meant before was that because Sparkey technically got 1 win (lost 2-1, not 3-0), so it avoids the magic 86th spot in BBEANS Standings.

I agree with Pwn here. You need more pressure on the wedge, not weight on the wedge.

IMO you should extend the signups a day or two just to let it fill up...

Discussion / Re: Why are DSL Flails Cheap?
« on: June 24, 2010, 12:08:44 PM »
That is the only reason in my mind that they are cheap. If we complain about things that would not work IRL, we need to complain about popups, jugglers, and the habit of using multiple weapons to do extra damage, even though that would not really work in real life.

Team LAZER will be sent... right after I build them XD. How suitable do you think that these "OOTAable" arenas will be for SnS?

@Sparkey: Be happy you won a single battle. That puts you ahead of last place in the BBEANS Standings. So technically you  have done better than a good amount of people. Many of them with better bots...

Hammer Head blocks other hammers from hitting. Extender work is weak.
