Guys, a game engine is pretty much worthless for a game like RA2, because there isn't a robotic game engine. An engine is used to simplify expressing game logic, and there is no logic in RA2 apart from the AI. And even the AI must be handcoded, just like it was in RA2 (with the Python files). What we need is: - a good physics engine (this pretty much makes or breaks the game)
- a 3d rendering engine that simplifies rendering the models and arena
- an embedded scripting langage for the AI and probably GUI
The first I'm not so sure of, there's a lot of choice here. The second I have a candidate for, I am very interested in Irrlicht: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/The third will probably be Python or even Lua. I'm working on a scripting language myself, but that's more of a personal project that I'm never going to finish.

Meh, most FPS game engines are derived from Quake, others not so much.

Damn, I wish I had a Pause button.
movepixel + F8?

I may also assume that in order to save you yourself some time that you edit this in your self-written level editor?

Yes you do, I'm still working on a better version, but I really don't have the time atm

Just a quick question about the keyboard controls. Home and End move the cursor up and down one pixel respectively, but my keyboard uses Fn+F9 and Fn+F10 as Home and End. I'm just wondering if that would still work with the program. =]
Not sure if anyone picked up on this the first time. Just making sure.
Have you tried it?

In the same folder as the .ahk file.

Make sure when extracting that you extract the .ahk file and .exe file in the same folder.

you've only been here a couple of months Weeks :)
Also, extremely offtopic and hijacking, but has anyone seen Serge lately? I've sent him a few PM's about the development of a new game but he doesn't seem to reply (or I'm doing something horribly wrong with sending the PM's because I don't see them in sent messages either).
I'm alive, we just seem to never be online at the same moment . (also, my XMPP server is kind of wonky and doesn't always work)
I'm not so sure about that, I've just been very inactive lately because of my exams.

I voted no. The current server seems stable, and the update is only out for 3 weeks now, "little fixes" are still bound to happen.
I'd say wait a month or two and then see if the update can be done smoothly.

I really don't like that exposed wheel, I'm going to try flip that Z-tek around and axle load the wheel away to place the middle Z-tek's .
If I do that I can put two snowplows on the sides that defend perfectly :D
Oh, and then I'll finally be on something like 799 kilo.
Has anyone ever succeeded in stacking a baseplate anchor inside a Z-tek?

It doesn't really need moar razors really. I even downgraded to 8 razors in my next version (this allows me to place two more plows, one for each side of the bot).
The plow is there for evil VS's that like to munch on my top.

Alright, my new popup, RockOn (yes, random name)! After I built it I noticed it looks a lot like seism 13. I have no idea how I did it, but it drives perfectly straight, even backwards! It also has 5 ramplates, 10 razors, 4WD with rubbers, 2 SnapperII's and a snowplow with 765.1kg used! It gets under NWB head-on in BBEANS arena. Pic (insides pic has plow moved so you can see):

Another thing I have noticed is that bots with static setups(aka not built off of snappers) almost always have better wedges.
Are you saying that a wedge attachted to a DDT attached to a Snapper is going to suck?

That's going nice, but you need to mix it up a little. Just playing around with the drumbox is not enough to make a good song :)
Do you know any synths? They are the core of making dubsteb, synths + LFO's.
Some amazing synths for reference:

I confirm that batteries make a difference in weight distribution and that this difference is extremely important for drivetrains. If your bot has a weight distribution even slightly offset to either side the bot will have a deviation towards the other side. My testbot used for this: http://nclabs.org/downloads/testbatterydistro.bot

I have to do some more testing, sec, let me restart into windows.

Serious? I thought batteries didn't affect weight distro at all.

Alright, what is going on here? I was just messing around with measuring up the new chassis for my new bot and I put the drivetrain in to see if it fit. And it can't drive straight. I tried replacing the motors, restarting the game, different wheels, but it can't drive straight at all. Would one of you guys look at it? Here is the .bot: http://nclabs.org/downloads/testing.bot
