What? I'm confused. I'm using invincible halfsheets right now. Or is that what you mean by angled sheets?

EDIT: Derp. You mean the ones on the top. Silly me. And sorry TRB, I thought you meant the halfsheets :3

Will try now. Thanks NFX =]
No, I was referring to the halfsheets attached to the baseplate. Sometimes a popup or other gutripping opponent can glitch its weapons through the halfsheets and score a hit on the chassis. If you've only got Plastic 1 at the moment, that's going to cause you some problems.

Nice to see I'm still winning. =D Skippy's won more races than me, though, so well done to him.

Remove the angled sheets, and with the weight gaines, add poly skirts on the underside from the halfsheets, so they make a kind of cross formation. That might give you the stability you're looking for. With the weight remaining, you could extend the anti-immobilisation skirt on the top, or possibly up the armour. Underside halfsheets aren't TOTALLY invincible.

Looks pretty good. S_M had a similar setup on a MW bot. Yours look more efficient, if a little fragile. How well does it fare?

Hey everyone, I'm back from my Holiday.

Hmm...new meme?
Only since yesterday. I woke up this morning and a drunken Thyrus had happened.

Does quite well against them. Drum's low enough to deal with wedges, and there's enough weaponry and defenses to survive, and take their extenders and such off.

Anyways, new bot. Thanks to my/TRB's Randomiser. =D

248.6, Tite 1, 4 ants. TWM3R Main Drive + Astroflight Strafing Drive. Wedge seems pretty good, not tested it in combat yet.

Looks pretty good. Apart from the metal hinges and exposed motor. :gawe:

Would it be possible to make the chassis that shape, instead of using metal hinges? That would free up some weight to add motor supports of some description, maybe a couple of flipper segments or so.

They're both wrong, everyone remembers that Thermidor 2 was the first wedged robot in robot wars. And how it beat Mechadon in the heat final to go on to win Series 5 in 1996.

Need I remind you that Thermidor 2 was a large box-shaped robot with 2-wheel drive and a vertical sawblade. No robot in the history of robotic combat has ever demonstrated the ability to self-right. The RFL currently has a $25,000 prize for the first robot which is able to right itself.

Does look good. I'd be slightly worried about it tilting back, how often does that happen?

Diotoir has been very well executed. Good and innovative component use. =P I also quite like the look of Hirashuriken, with the exception of the overly long swords, and exposed motors at the back on those fragile-looking extenders. Bot Fly's skin, however, is fantastic.

Also wondering when the King Of The Hill final will happen, and what - if anything - will go between Round 1 and 2 of the remaining heats.

I like the contrast between Apollyon's beat-up look and the others' relatively pristine appearance. Hopefully they'll all do well.

You guys should try... You only need phone and a track where to run. One lap is 400m if someone didn't know.

I have far more important things to do than run....besides sports are boring as hell.

You sir, made my day.

Sorry man, I totally forgot about the "No personal opinions" rule we have here.

You are entitled to personal opinions, but you may not present personal opinions as facts. :gawe: After any personal opinions, you should put something like "in my view", or "to me" preceding said opinion. Some sports are boring to me, but I do quite like the technical aspects of motor racing, such as Formula 1 and occasionally the BTCC. Shame it's only on ITV4.

Not done that in years. Last one I did would have been when I was around about 16 or so, I got a little under 3,000 metres. Round about 2950.

Looking pretty good. Seems this Randomiser was a good idea. =D Does it get stuck on its front very often?

More or less. It'd look a bit better if you axle loaded the drum out of the way while you were attaching the other two extenders, so they'd all overlap when it was spinning normally.

D'aww. <3 What's the weight?

Exposed Perm worries me slightly. But if it's a 132 Small, then that should be alright. Maybe you could turn it upside-down to better fight wedges.

Also make sure the screenshots are lined up next time. =P Looks a litle bit bodged together right now. Just a small point.

You could mount the RAD with the long side against the battery to reduce chassis size. That might free up some weight, and if you dropped to plastic, or lightened up your extender work, you might be able to get a third razor/mace on there instead of an iron.

I can add a poll here if you need me to.

Signups are still open until mid-September, though, so there's plenty of time for people to get entries in. There's normally a bit of a lull in proceedings in the middle of signups, people either rush a bot or enter a previously built one to get a spot early, or take their time ironing out any problems to get it right when they enter it later.

Plus, I still have my reserved spot. :gawe:

IRL bot looks very nice. I'd consider swapping the Poly skirt for a Flipper Segment, and giving it a good skin. Apart from that, it's a very good build.
