This is not cheap hardware store aluminum, this is the kind they send into space.
Exactly. To give an idea, the chassis for Moros is entirely 7075 aluminum in 1/4" and 1/8" thicknesses, and as/if things break on Nyx, they'll be replaced with 7075. (using 6061 for now since it's not seeing nearly the shock loads) 6061 data- http://asm.matweb.com/search/SpecificMaterial.asp?bassnum=MA6061t67075 data- http://asm.matweb.com/search/SpecificMaterial.asp?bassnum=MA7075T6Relevant info: 6061 yield strength: 40,000psi (pounds per square inch) 7075 yield strength: 73,000psi Also, if you're not careful, you might not even get 6061 at a hardware store. Another common aluminum is 5052, and if it's in the annealed state, you've only got 13,000psi yield strength. Yield strength may not mean much to you, but the scale is linear, so you can at least get a relative idea on strengths.

How is your motor attached on the spinner?
Multi-extender lifted as high as it can go with the ti(iirc) extenders attached to it, motor attached to the ti.

All the waterjet and machined parts for Nyx shipped out today, scheduled arrival is Monday, which means the main build will be next week.

now i'm not sure on whether to make my ant a bar spinner or a shell spinner when I build it, mainly because i've never seen an antweight shell spinner ( maybe for a very good reason ) and i'd like to see how it would do
Assuming you mean UK ant, there's a few- http://buildersdb.com/botdetails.asp?botid=6240http://buildersdb.com/botdetails.asp?botid=4080I imagine it's mostly an issue of finding the weight for a shell that's strong enough to survive and a baseplate that's strong enough to handle the hits at that size.

Decided to try making a MW version: Racked up 26,000 points in 30s and finished the match by picking hypno up and dropping it outside of the arena as the disk broke. Suffice to say I was amused.

http://nearchaos.net/ has been updated with a reworked front page. The home page now has a blog built into it to allow easy updates and faster content management. (ie, no having to rewrite the actual code just to post some news/a picture)

They look like they're based on cordless drills with mods focused on improving durability and ease of mounting. Unless they cut some major corners internally, they'll probably hold up better than plain cordless drill gearboxes.

SO MUCH INFORMATION
NONE OF WHICH I UNDERSTAND
Then don't post. That thing looks sick mike, i'm guessing that cost quite the pretty penny ? :P
I'll find out soon enough, all of the waterjet parts are being made in the next week or two. The pillowblock was effectively free, since I made it with all scrap or recycled bot parts.

1450 RPM at 24 volts in high gear, 450 RPM at 24 volts in low gear.
Correct, and this particular one will be in low gear to power the various lifting/grinding/etc attachments.

Looks dope, got any better views of this saw trap system?
Here you go: All saws are set to spin in a way that pulls the other bot deeper into the rack.

Had an amusing idea for a trapper-ish bot: It'll likely get trashed against any decent spinner, but it's fun and if it gets a bot in the saw trap, they don't come out.

LW version of the hollow shaft, weapon motor above weapon setup. Chassis height is obviously bfe'd.

Attempt at an IRL chassis in drum style bot. The system I think fits well enough, but I think the style itself may push IRL a bit too far.

I decided to get one of the parts I'm doing in house made today- It's a custom pillowblock for the weapon drive shaft. Made from scrap 6061 with a 1/2" ID bushing pressed into a hole drilled ~0.5" deep. 4 tapped 8-32 holes line up with slots in the baseplate that match the ones for the gearbox, allowing me to adjust chain tension quickly.

i think it's very clear freeziez can't ai flippers at all. next time you enter a flipper, ai it yourself or atleast put the smartzone on yourself.
Yes, I can't AI them at all, even though I've had about 40 matches with flippers and only a couple have gone wrong with minor things, such as turnspeed or inch-off smartzone placement. I had a lot of bots to AI and the last thing I'm going to worry about is a SZ a millimeter from where you actually want it. AI it yourself or deal with it.
Maybe a blanket "if you don't place the smartzone yourself or even make the effort to give a good description of where it should be, your complaints about precise placement will be ignored" for BB6.

Prediction for Round 3: I'll finish 0-2. High speed not very wedgy bot with hinged spikes does not like popups.

Fairly sure they're banebots.
