Wheels only get grip if they are directly attached to a spin motor. Put a wheel on a servo, or put a wheel on an extender on a motor, and you'll see what I mean. Since Walker already has bumpy servo drive, spikes instead of wheels would probably not affect speed/acceleration much (if at all).

On Hammerhead, you could try removing the rear armor plates (you don't really need much protection there) and put some wedges in the front so it is harder to get under.
On Walker, you could use spikes on the servos instead of wheels. There shouldn't be any effect on speed, and it would do damage when it crawled on top of other bots.

It's late, but it's still Friday! This is the current version of M.O.E. that will be replacing the older version in DSL v1. A few people might have seen me post this in an old thread on the official forums a while back, but nobody has yet seen it skinned and with the belt guard on top. M.O.E. is an extremely tough opponent, much tougher than most of the stock AI. It's like the uberchallenge bot where if you can beat it, your bot is instantly recognized as pro material. Yet, fortunately, it's not cheat-type or invincible like the AU Battlebots. It is actually much LESS powerful than it should be for its weight, and the chassis is perfectly exposed (if you can reach it). Here is a photo of the real bot. I know the stickers on the blade are missing, but that blade is pretty much impossible to skin accurately because there is so much distortion. If I find I have extra time to put finishing touches on DSL though I will attempt to fix that.

Now there's a creative design. Vertically flailing spinners.
Most of the stuff you listed will be fixed in DSL 2.0. But I don't think there is any remedy for #3. Chaining multiple components with axles on them often has glitchy results, both in stock RA2 and DSL.

With DSL 2.0 closer than ever to completion, you'll now get to see an entire team of the new AI instead of just one bot! This week is BLACK STORM. LW: BOT-205 It may not look like a very tough opponent with only a single large saw blade, but looks can be deceiving. BOT-205 is a fast, dangerous wedge/vertical spinner combo that will be under and cutting up your bottom before you know it. MW: Devil II A very fast, heavily armored wedge bot with a row of spikes at the top to impale its victims' undersides. The spring-loaded spikes can also flip opponents on occasion. HW: Industrial Coal Miner You might call IDC the Rabid Pit Bull of DSL. Fast drive, good armor, and 3 spinning discs arranged in a traditional digging tool pattern will make short work of its opponents.

It's probably a combination of the high number of wheels and the high number of polys on its components that makes Ronin laggy. I didn't make it so I can't be sure.
At least it's still not as bad as the lag in multiplayer.

For some reason the game doesn't like custom tabletop arenas under the tabletop catergory. It likes to crash. But there are some tt arenas available under other categories such as Honey I Shrunk the Bots and the Pyramid (and the Ocean Platform coming in 2.0).
Actually most of the stuff you suggested is possible (only split screens and no/extended repair time limit aren't); the main limiting factor is time. DSL 2.0 has been in development long enough and we want to get it out ASAP. It's not likely we'll be starting anything new now, but I can tell you some of the things on that list have already been made

Yeah, it will seem like a miracle when this gets done since it's been so long in the making. But it's honestly almost to the beta testing stage now. And since it's Friday, here is another bot that uses the 180 degree spin motor to power a hammer. Beta is a heavyweight bot you'll be fighting against in 2.0. It's a very tough opponent if you have no way of getting under it. And here's the picture I based the replica off of.

Interesting idea, putting all your bots on the first page. It makes so much sense I'm surprised noboby else has done it.
Interesting bot too. Excellent armor on that thing, but is there any underneath? Good weapons on the bot too; I haven't tried out DSL mower blades much yet but I know they're a lot more effective than in stock RA2.

Holey cheese! Some of those bots actually AREN'T SPINNERS! :P
Seriously, about 90% of DSL bots so far are spinners (you can bet that will change in 2.0 though). Way to be different with those designs. Cube is my favorite; looks like a good rammer.
To get better damage with Smasher with no increase in weight, switch to the 25 kg hammers from stock RA2. The YU812 hammers players can use are weak.

Nifty, and frankly more accurate anyhow. I have not used the FB pack so I don't know anything about a limited spin motor. How much damage does it actually cause? Will we be seeing this used in other hammer bots (Overkill, Judge, Killer/Terror/Beta Hurtz, Diesector, etc.) ?
The motor has enough power to swing just about any weapon with good speed, so damage is only slightly less than it would be with a burst motor. As for other bots using it, you might just see one... this Friday

No frenZy fans? I'm surprised.
Here's a very stylish HW bot you'll get to fight in DSL 2.0, complete with spiked wheel guards and decorative flags. Shogun, the upgraded Ronin from Team Dragon, now has four katanas in its wedge for a weapon. It leaves about 100 kgs of weight unused, but it's still one of the toughest contenders in the pack due to the popup wedge type design (although Shogun is a much more realistic design than the stock RA2 popups).

frenZy fans rejoice: in DSL 2.0, that short little 90 degree hammer has been extended to twice its previous length (approximately the length of the real hammer) and swings back and forth through a 180 degree arc! Before anyone gets their hopes up: No, that's not a burst motor. 180 deg burst motors are still impossible, unfortunately. The hammer is swung by a limited spin motor like the hammer motor in FB's component pack. Animation of the updated frenZy swinging the hammer. You can see how it could be a threat to spinners.

Yeah, you could do it, but then the floor would constantly be doing damage to all the bots on it. Goose had another idea to make flippers able to get points that I think would work nice.

For this weeks's peek, I give you... as you might have expected... Bulldog Breed! He's a middleweight in DSL and a very resilient flipper. This is the version of the real bot this replica was based off of.

Good designs, although unoriginal, but you shouldn't use the stock RA2 parts. #1 the DSL parts are better, #2 it would be cheating if you ever took those bots online (because the stock parts are hidden by default). Try replacing the Z-teks with the TWM3R Magmotors - they're the same weight but much more powerful, plus they're stock DSL - and replace the stock tribars with DSL tribars or just regular bars.
Hurricane is also a bit overloaded... I'd recommend using a few of the 70kg hammers on beefy motors like the 6 mag gearbox instead of a truckload of 30 (or is it 60?) kg hammers on Z-teks.

Well Darkrat and Starcore are still technically part of the team; it's not like they were kicked off or anything. But they probably won't be contributing much anymore. Darkrat did make a few things for DSL 2.0 a while back though. They'll be included if they ever get uploaded to the site...

Time for another sneak peek! We're back to the new stock AI bots this week, but next week will be something else again (probably a new real robot replica).
This is Team Dragon's new lightweight, Ninja Assassin, packing an impressive E-Tek motor for weapon power! One of the most powerful vertical spinners, if not the most powerful, in the pack, but it is also one of the most fragile bots. Once again the ninja stars are balanced with the rest of the weapons in DSL and will be available as cheatbot2 parts.

Probably because it's about half a year old. Anyway the CAD he posted looked a lot like VD5.0 except less organic. I wonder if he ever got it beyond the vapor bot stage.

How are you reskinning the parts?
How NOT to do it: Open up the .gmf file in Notepad, find a .bmp name among all the compiled jargon, and change it. Save and put in another folder. This will crash the game because compiled gmf's get corrupted when you open them in any text editing program.
How TO do it: First decompile the gmf using Dummy's gmf compiler/decompiler (available from RFSHQ download database). Find the map name under the MATERIALS list and change it. Save, compile it, and put in some folder.
CFZ files aren't necessary. They're just a way to compress txt files.
