On top of a city building (like the tourney arena, city background, and an open elevator shaft hazard pit) = Robot Rage Arena?

Actually, yes.  I had no idea that there was another game that had this as an arena already - it was just something I came up with during a Hot Wheels Crash episode, where one of the stunts is to jump your car across the tops of two buildings.  I thought, how cool would it be to have an arena on top of one of these buildings, open elevator shaft, maybe an open stairwell, driving around the A/C unit and watertank legs, trying to push each other off the building or into the shaft.......?

Okay, I have a few more ideas for arenas I'd like to see:

On top of a city building (like the tourney arena, city background, and an open elevator shaft hazard pit)

Amusement park - battles in the Fun House, the Bumper cars, on the merry-go-round, etc.

Construction (destruction?) site - make it like the mars arena, but have like a half-completed building, with loose girders that can be pushed, a crane, etc.

Parking garage - we already know that bi-level arenas can be made (Space Station arena and the Obstacle Course arena), so why not do a bi-level parking garage, with ramps leading to the upper/lower levels?  Maybe a couple of cars parked here and there for flipping if you're bored ...

Airport - batttle in the main hanger (the empty arena from the Hammer of Justice/Spammolama would be a good start ..), maybe have a plane inside the hanger, some tools off to one side, refueling truck, etc.  Also maybe a battle out on the tarmac in front of the control tower.

Dockyard - Kinda like the ocean platform, whree robots could push each other off into the water and short them out.

Fireworks factory - make "exploding" stuff (like the computer in the garage), so that things break when you or your opponent run into them.  How fun would it be to topple a pile of boxes on your opponents?

Haunted house - instead of spikes reaching up from the floor, how about SPOOKS?  Spikes could be made into hands that could "grab" your robot, and loose boards that were actually spring-loaded flippers.

Street intersection - built with dual levels, so that bots could drive up onto the "sidewalk" to battle - watch out for the passing cars! (Like the rock in the cave arena).  Oh, and the sewer drain could be a death pit ....

Auto junkyard?  (I already posted this idea a while back, but it fit in with the rest of the ideas...)  Wrecked cars for the "walls", loose parts here and there, perhaps a welding rig like the one in the DSL garage.

Gas station garage floor - Hmm, hydraulic car lifts, toolboxes, welding rig, loose parts, Coke/Pepsi/candy vending machines (like the cabinets) ... Maybe a towtruck could be parked outside, and since we're "outside", what about flamethrowers on the gas nozzles?

Trucking depot receiving floor - I don't know if this would work or not, but perhaps several of the receiving doors could be open, allowing bots to drive right up inside the truck trailers, or off the edge of the loading platforms (death pits).

I think it would be kinda fun doing this .... fixing the "older" arenas so they actually looked old.  Like how long has that skull been mounted up there ...?  I'm going to try and fix the skull so it looks rusty, maybe work on the arena floor a little ..... Anyone else think this is a good idea?  Suggestions?  Ideas?  Offers of help?

I have the RA2 and DSL arenas (both versions), plus a few extra ones, like Dummy's Think Tank, the Bahamas, and StarCore's arena, but I don't know if anyone has the RA1 arenas.  Would be nice to dig up all the oldies and redo them a little....

ummm sure, but i only have 8 teams

1. Team Juggernaut
2. Team Arachnid
3. Team for Pimps and Whores
4. OWNAGE
5. PHYCO (created by my ten-year old brother that loves RA2)
6. SOUTH PARK GANG (created by me, my 6-year-old cousin, and my 8-year-old cousin.)
7. DANGEROUS
8. team no hands, or wheels...

maybe i'll post it later, when i have more.

EDIT: i deleted my Starcore AI pack robots, because they only had original RA2 parts, no DSL parts

*sighs* So in oher words, you had Starcore v3.0 robots on your game?
As in "the latest pack"...?
And you deleted them because they were all original ...?????????????

*shakes my head in disbelief*
Just for the record, Starcore v3.0 is perhaps THE toughest pack to beat, and Starcore prided himself that all those bots were built with original stock parts, not all the custom stuff.  The DSL robots (v1.2 and v2.0) are the upgraded robots, but with custom-built parts.

You should be able to go into the Arenas folder, and into each separate arena from there.  The maps folder is the one where all the bmp files are, and I guess they coudl eb modified from there ..... Just save an original of each map in case something gets goofed up, though ...

Don't bump.
what the deuce does that supposed to mean?

Iit means that if you post in a topic that has not been posted in for at least a month, you are "bumping" the topic to the current date.  It's generally preferred that you start a new thread than to bump an old one.   Don't worry too much about it - some of these threads have gotten up to a year's bump on them ....

Um, just for reference, Clickbeetle DID say upon ATT's release in DSLv2.0 that it's not really a fighting bot, but it was the king of the stunt arena ....?  I guess you missed the memo, Death .....  I'm sure that if you took the bot into the botlab, you could probably fit some weaponry on it ....

It would be nice to "recreate" the arenas from Robot Arena and Robot Arena 2 into DSL. Ofcoarse you should make it look as if they have been there for some time since they are acient compared to the dsl arenas. (i.e. robot arena 2: metal skull arena looks a bit rusted and dusty)

thx for replies if any

Interesting idea, and actually, yes, I agree with that.  Some of the older arenas should look "weathered" and used, like they've been around for a long time.  (Well, they have been, haven't they ...?)  Cracks in the concrete, graffiti here and there, maybe some gaps or holes in the electric arena floor grates  ... Dusty may be a little hard to do, but stuff like sloppy welding jobs and mismatched paint should be fairly easy to do.  Having never seen the original RA1 arenas, I couldn't really say anything about those ...

How 'bout it, guys?  Anyone want to step up to the plate and try weathering the older arenas some?

Maybe no one could find you to ask you ...?  Welcome back.

Nice bot, btw - I made a clone of it using Lu-Tze's Tuff Motors for drive instead of the redrum motors, and mine were hardmounted, not hinged .... I'm sure the boys will give credit for ATT where credit is due ...

Discussion / how to edi the .BOT files

Well. I assumed that no one isn't that dumb that tries to overwrite the bot files everytime and everytime try to copy them again under robot designs folder if some of the robots are lost in the game. =P

Then again, we've seen dumber things, Weedy, so anything is possible .....

Or if you want to mess with AI bots just copy bot0, b0t1 and so on from their folders in AI and team folder. Then paste them to your robot designs folder and open them in the game.

It should work. So easy. :D

Weedy forgot to mention that you should also do only one team at a time, otherwise the Bot0, Bot1, and Bot2 files will constantly try to overwrite themselves .... either that, or rename them team0 bot0, team0bot1, etc.  That's how I have all mine listed, so I know which robot is on which team.

where the heck did you find my chess model?
I dont have time to make an arena out of it :(

Honestly, I don't remember where I found it, Goose ... I think it was on here someplace .... And it's only the picture, not the arena itself, although I WOULD like to see it built ... I even went ahead and made a reskin of the Monopoly board on "Honey I Shrunk The Bots", and made it a checkerboard, using part of Starcore's background bmp for the black squares, and with the "Robot Arena 2" logo right across the center of the board.  Although admittedly, the chessboard does look kinda funny with a pile of Chance cards and dice on it ....

Maybe you don't have the time to make it, Goose, but maybe someone else out there does.  Any offers, guys?  I'd really like to see this one made ... even if it isn't a "standard" tabletop arena.

Well, I thought since we already had the "Honey I Shrunk The Bots" tabletop, this one wouldn't be too hard to do ... And it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a tabletop, just look like one, like that arena was.  The drawers could be the death pits like the Cave Arena, the pieces could be like the welding tanks in the garage ....
