Hmm maybe, it does seem quite a bit like it. Regardless, that's a damn nice arena.

Oh god, that looks damn difficult to make. May as well still have a crack at it though.
Are there no other commonly used arenas in the world? I'm sure there was one around 2004-2005 in America that had two flip out zones and a pit? 343

Right, ignoring Jaydee99's misunderstood, yet not very well said sarcasm...
Thank you everyone! I'm chuffed to bits with how it came out and I'm glad you all feel the same. ![]() Gazea2, your a life saver, I'll be messaging you shortly. Cheers. Impossible343, the wings do indeed open but they have no effect on self righting as the servos are too weak. Its only really for show boating to be honest! The robot itself however will always land on its feet... unless flipped onto the beak or out of the arena which, combined with an extremely low ground clearance and damaging claw makes Razer almost unbeatable. Right, just a couple of pictures of Razer and what makes it the best clawed robot created for/in the game. #The robot itself is reasonably in scale, not too small that the motors and wheels don't fit and nowhere near being too large. The robot itself is around the scale size as Tornado and Pussycat if not smaller, making game-play feel more realistic. #When the crusher is used, the tip will always seem to penetrate the opponent making the claw feel more like its doing its purpose. #The claw unlike others can actually hook onto opponents shells or between extenders so with a bit of careful driving, you can dump them anywhere you please. ![]() ![]() Next up... am I allowed to do Velocerippa? Mighty Mouse is just doing my head in. ![]() 344

I'll be doing Mauler 2000 and an early Frenzy for my AI pack. If you want them for your pack just give me a shout, anything that helps. Innit?

Discussion / Re: Anime weapons, anyone?« on: June 17, 2014, 06:28:35 AM »
Yes, There arn't very many people who make custom components in the first place and I am one of the few left on these forums who will make what the public want. I do not see very many people using 'anime components' as if you wanted such thing they'd play an anime game rather than one oriented around classic robot combat. I'm surprised the minecraft idea caught on, although it didnt last long.
My aim with Robot Arena is to make it as realistic and entertaining as possible and I feel like 'anime' or 'minecraft' components are just a step backwards. It is a strict, yet harsh diet but its one that I'm sticking with frankly. My apologies if this comes across as nobbish. 346

Alreet, I guessed you'd give up after knowing what needs to be done Natster
![]() Right as you all know, many people have attempted Razer, the DSL lads, Wham and the animators that the BBC hired for the RW games. ![]() But now I give you, the HereticBlue take on Razer. ![]() ![]() As you can probably guess... I am VERY chuffed with this! A massive thanks to my mate who isn't on this forum as he helped me out with the texture for the claw sides! 347

Cheers lads, I'll post pictures up of the finished razer in a couple of hours.
Natster, there isn't really a point in a poll. Whams pack needs finishing, that's obvious and I am finishing it but I do need help. If people do want to help then you should post here or inbox me but what I need comes in similar form of an application, If people don't have the following skills then they can't help. What I am doing are the UI skins, replicas and additional realistic components for people to use, such as splinters axe head and Toon Army 2's flipper ect. Thyrus has offered to help me out with AI'ing but he might need help at some point. I need people who can do the following: #Create/modify arenas #Create and reorganising events #Bot Files Editing (BFE) #Can change the bot lab test arena to something like the Robot Wars arena #Add arena lighting #create new boarders for paint job section of the botlab So yea There really isn't anything else you can help with to but with the issues mentioned above, I need as much help as I can possibly get. 348
Discussion / Re: Could we add to Whams Pack?« on: June 15, 2014, 11:14:25 AM »
Why don't you continue this in my thread or Whams rather than opening another one up? I did say I'm after any help I can get if possible.

Damn close there 5 votes for Run Away and 6 for Razer, so I deicded to crack on with both. Run Aways frame is absolutely lush, i love it but you cant see it from 'photographic' angles sadly, I'll post more pictures soon.
As for Razer well, its damn diffcult. I dont even know if it will export because there is so much going on in the wedge alone! In the picture Below I have thrown in a photgraph of my pullback model and some quick cylinders to resemble wheels to give me some idea of what it will look like when finished. aren`t you going to do both anyway? You only know me too well. ![]() ![]() ![]() Razer should be finished soon. I'm quite happy with how its turning out so far! 352

Thanks lads, all comments are much appreciated! It is quite fun to fight, very easy to flip around with a disc but a nightmare to get out of the arena due to its bodyshape.
Nice work on Sir Chomalot. Just out of curiosity, what alterations are you going to make to Pussycat? Well Originally I intended to make my own as the shape of the DSL's and Wham's never seemed right to me, but In the end I gave up and I fixed Whams up by throwing on its series 5 skin and adding a a collision so it doesn't get stuck standing up and has a lower ground clearence. I'll also make an Extreme 2 skin (black & yellow) for those who like a change. I've also done some tweaking to Tricerabot, it now has the right sized wheel guards and is now invertable. ![]() ![]() Now should I do Run Away (either version) or Razer next? 353
Real Robotics Discussion / Robot Fighting Arenas« on: June 12, 2014, 01:38:16 PM »
Hey lads, I'm just posting this because I want a picturesque database of well known heavyweight arenas around the world used in popular events, non of this daft featherweight or ant weight crap as I need a list that I can pick arenas to make for my AI patch.
First off, obviously there were the obviously the Robot wars, Battlebots and robotica arenas but what other untelevised robotic combat events had their own arenas throughout the world? Robot Wars (RAF base Newton) ![]() Battlebots (San Francisco) ![]() Robotica ![]() Roaming Robots/Robot Wars Live (location varies) ![]() Combots/Robogames (San Mateo) Robodome (Brighton/Portsmouth) ![]() Dutch Robot Games (location varies across Holland) ![]() If someone can list other arenas, particularly what they used in Holland, Canada and I think Japan had a crack at it. Then it would be much appreciated, just please no daft box arenas. 354
Modifications / Re: Robot Wars Magazine Arenas & Series 7 Competitor Components« on: June 09, 2014, 08:05:09 PM »This is way better than I could have done with my old-school GMF Compiler methods. Bravo. Thanks Click, much appreciated. ![]() ![]() I think there's something wrong. I keep throwing money at the screen, but nothing's happening. Ahh it would be nice to get money from this, mind I'd probably do enough reps to make you all bankrupt! ![]() 2 Robots that would be interesting to see would be Sir Chromalot from extreme 2 and Mousetrap (From any series) Its funny you should mention the former as I started cracking on with it after I finished M2 in dedication to Steve Merrill as he past away back in 2011, for the very same reason I will be doing Run Away in dedication to Aaron Joerger (2013) and redoing Pussycat for both David Gribble (2001) & Alan Gribble. (2013) So this is the first of those 3. ![]() 355

You Dirty Bas****s
![]() jackster, I'm pondering about Fluffy. I'm not too sure whether or not it would be purposeful to make it, as For Bulldog Breed I might as well include the DSL version with a more effective flipper. Kurt, no idea what stratos is... Id love a Lancia Stratos if your offering. ![]() Impossible69, I will be doing the occasional modern day replica but you'll only be able to get them from the subscribers list. Right, did someone ask for M2? ![]() 356

Very nice as usual Sonny. Absolutely bang on!

Thanks lads, it is a beast in the arena. Absolutely unstoppable. The battery life doesn't run down either and let me tell you, you'll be wishing it did.
The subscribers list I'll be starting when the pack is released and it will have a link included in the download. The arena in the background is The tabletop V2 with the flame jet in the centre. I'm quite proud of it, I think these four are by far the best I've made. ![]() 358
Modifications / Re: Robot Wars Magazine Arenas & Series 7 Competitor Components« on: June 04, 2014, 01:46:15 PM »
Thanks guys. I'm not releasing a Beta of this, otherwise it would spoil the surprise.
![]() I've notice over the years that a massive number of people are dissatisfied with the DSL Storm 2, myself included for its inability to ram, get underneath other robots, the shell reflection, its visual proportions and the fact that it didn't run both ways up... So I've made my own for this pack. This is literally just a rammer, it will get underneath anything and ram you very fast into the wall, It works both ways up and will launch you out of the arena in the same style as it did with Steel Avenger in real life if your not careful. Now the AI one doesn't have any active weapons because well... if it could self right then the player will never win so a version of this with the double action arm will come out in the subscribers list so it can lift up opponents as it did in series 7 or self right like Firestorm in case you land yourself in a bit of peril. ![]() Quite proud of this, I hope you also find it far more tasty to look at than the DSL version. 359
Modifications / Re: Robot Wars Magazine Arenas & Series 7 Competitor Components« on: June 03, 2014, 07:24:46 PM »next thing will be powerfisting everyone! :PI hope you mean in a bro fist kind of way... I've got something completely different on mind! ![]() Thanks for editing my post Thyrus, I've had people messaging me asking why the pack didnt come out. :P I'll get my revenge some time... just wait. ![]() So Awesome, this is possibly the best AI pack yet!Cheers Jake, I highly doubt it but you may never know! That is a status I will be aiming for. Oh my good lord...You will have them and many more in time. ![]() Will you be doing more replicas and putting them in the pack? Like Tsunami and Spawn Again?Yush. I absoloutely love it! Does it have enough power to chuck the others out of the arena like in the show? Does it fall onto it's back when it fires the flippers?Natster, Hmm... sorta. Like it was with the real thing, rarely. It depends on the shape of the robot and the run up to the wall. I've used my Iron Awe 7 full bar hinge bursts on it and for some reason it has the power of a crappy tminus snapper, it should be throwing them into the ceiling if anything! Kurt, Depends on what mood its in! in short yes but only occasionally. definitely if you reverse while firing the flippers. So yes, it can flip robots out of the arena, flip itself onto its back and also can get destroyed and "disc'd" out of the arena by X-terminator! ![]() 360
Modifications / Re: Robot Wars Magazine Arenas & Series 7 Competitor Components« on: June 02, 2014, 08:47:12 AM »
Craig, I really like the sound of that idea actually. Hmm... I might try it out.
![]() Cheers lads, I'm looking forward to getting the damn thing finished! A quick update, straight after Iron Awe 2.1 (http://i57.tinypic.com/2ivzkee.jpg) I started cracking on with St Agro thinking it would be easy... it bloody wasnt! I'm quite chuffed with it now. I might darken the flipper components so they stand out more, then get the TGA texture for the wheel spokes to work but other than that its finished. I will release this pack today. this is legit and not thyrus editing this post! ![]() ![]() |
