Personally, yes I would like it to be legal as it would make it more prominently known, but I think it's a little late to be adding an entire new pack that adds a new set of Aluminium armour after 99% of the entries have already been received.

If I haven't installed the 1.0 version of the extenders, do I have to patch that in first then the 1.1, or can I just go straight to the 1.1?

You can install straight from 1.1. Those instructions are just incase you already made bots using the Pack.
I have taken 1.0 down anyway so it can't be downloaded in future too.

Pack Two: Armour has been released, and Pack One: Extenders has been updated.

Please see the OP on Page 1 for download links and instructions.

Can't wait for this, it's quite the motley collection of bots in that splash.

I could get lucky, but I see an early exit for myself in this one.

A good first video, I would suggest maybe leaving the results on screen for longer for the actual matches, as they were on screen for barely a second before the video finished.

Even using a smaller wheel as a spacer would cause the same drift. I think the only solution is mounting the engine closer to the edge of the chassis, or using a motor with a longer axle.

Hotbox, IRL, Cruiserweight.

Although who really wants to see IRL CW bots nowadays? Surely they should have died out in 2013, so that the world could have yet another ****ing boring Stock popup bot with a dumb skin.

A slightly different version of this will appear in Wild Card Rally, due to the "No custom-textured components' rule.

Now that the splash for the GTMCS has been released, I can post this:

The top motor and weapon seems to have some gyroscopic stabilising effect on the huge bottom one, without it it turns into a ****ing nightmare waiting to havok.

I plan to make some more in the future, now there's no deadline to adhere to.

Modifications / Re: IRL Components - Pack One: Extenders
« on: October 03, 2016, 12:18:14 PM »
So far, the Extenders have seemingly been universally liked, with a number of tournaments already using them, and some amazing designs being created already. So firstly, I want to thank everyone who has downloaded and used these, and thank the tournament hosts who have put their support behind this.
Anyone who has made a bot with these packs and wants to submit a screenshot for use in the OP (as an example), please let me know, as I would appreciate allowing more people to see what is possible.

However, there has been one common recurring suggestion of the packs, and that is the amount of time to create something with them. This is something I have experienced too, and I want to gauge the feeling towards an idea for re-organising Pack 1, and how future packs will be sorted.

The Situation
Currently, items are sorted by their component type. So all round, square and angled extenders have their own dropdown menu, containing all the colours. And those same components have their armour variants as well. But overall, this only adds 9 icons to the menu, which I feel is a small amount and goes towards not turning every menu into essentially what 'DSL Cheatbot2 Extras' is, which is a ****ing ridiculous size.

The Problem
The current issue seems to be that it takes a long time to go through those dropdown menus, to get to the right colour, and having to constantly do so if you're changing colours/components for a design. Another issue is that dropdown menus would start to get into the hundreds with the armour panels coming in Pack 2, which is a ridiculous amount.

The solution?
The solution that has come about, which may have been originally suggested by 090901, is to group everything by colour per component type. So for example, all red extender components (by that I mean anything in the Extenders Menu) would be listed under one icon, and so on and so forth. At the moment this would mean 12 icons, which is still not bad, but this number is likely to increase in the future. It would also mean that all different armour types would be in one menu, which I want people to take notice of and be careful about.

The Effects
If people approve of switching to this new method, it would require me taking IRL Pack 1 down to reorganise, and would require everyone to uninstall the old version, and reinstall the new version. Thats a given. And people currently using the packs for tournaments obviously need not worry about this.

Other stuff
At the same time, I would probably remove the Aluminium and Titanium Angled Extenders, as it's been pointed out the originals all shared the same stats regardless of armour type. So it'll hopefully cut down on component lists a little.

TL;DR
1. Submit pics of your bots using IRL Extenders, to go in the OP.
2. Components may be sorted by colour for future packs; Pack 1 will be updated to match this.
3. Two redundant sets of angled components will be removed, or at least dummied out.

Yeah, there was a Pokemon themed tournament a while back.
I guess I was super-eager to enter then.

I managed to locate the folder with all my old RA2 installs. Some lovingly named "BROKEN" or "BROKEN COMPONENTS", but about 5 different DSL 2.1 installs, and all filled with bots I thought I lost (I had a small selection of bots on a Mediafire account that contained bots I'd sent to tournaments).

I'm going to try and document them, because a lot of them have never been shown in this showcase, and some even I'd forgotten about until importing them into 2.2. Shout out if you want me to try and update any of them :dumb)

I am really not sure when I built these, or why. Was there a Pokemon-themed tournament at some point?

Gauntlet, looking like the Dragula gangbanged an iron fence.

Stingray's Revenge. There are NINE other versions of this one bot, which apparently I wanted to min-max completely. More of those soon.

Should have entered this as a house robot. It's the right weight too! Podcast, a middle-child 6 HS UHW, each 'pod' having a disc with 4 hammers beneath.

Cluckin' Hell. Giant robot chicken. Because why not? I genuinely don't know what this was made for, I think Clash of the Titans had passed by this build date (2012), also those two giant HS with dual perms, mounted on hinges. because what could possibly go wrong there?

That is a potential outcome, but I still feel it's negated somewhat by the nature of the fights. Its about defeating a larger bot quickest, everyone has the same situation, and if there's ties then it comes down to fights against each other.

An idea for the future could be a parts list that includes an automatic time handicap to avoid spam. Using those two components as an example, people could still use a Frenzy Hammer or Mechavore disc, but will receive a +5 seconds to their time for every one on the bot.

Tournament Archives / Beat The Clock! - Signups
« on: September 28, 2016, 05:27:30 PM »

The aim of this tournament is simple: Beat "The Clock", a fearsome Cruiserweight Ring Spinner that can call time on your bot's life with a second's notice. You have Three minutes to get the job done, but every second counts, as with twelve bots vying to knock The Clock's block off, you better move fast!

Time Puns. :dumb)

Rule Stuff:
-I can AI, although AI'ing yourself is encouraged.
-1 entry per person, to a maximum of 12 (for every hour on a 12-hour clock), and changes can be made up until the deadline. Entries will only be accepted once I have received and tested them. There are no spots reserved, so entries with issues will be refused and that spot may be taken in the meantime.
- Issues mentioned above being an error with the bot, being too heavy, stupid/racist names/skins. Don't push your luck.
-I will not be entering, due to being responsible for "The Clock", in order to remain impartial.

-Middleweight DSL Standard (IRL robots will be accepted at the entrant's risk) (Build style must be stated upon submitting the bot)
-DSL 2.2 + IRL Packs 1 & 2
-No out-of-game modifications, nor any in-game hacks
-No cheatbot2
-Component Freedom is allowed, to a max of three uses (which must be documented when submitting the robot). Rule of 7 break is freely allowed.
-A maximum of 1 of ANY of these components, total. Mechavore disc, Microvore disc, Moros blade, Frenzy hammer, Minion disc, Overkill blade
-All robots must show controlled movement, however, 1WD Crawlers and Clusterbots will be allowed. Crawlers will have a 20Kg weight allowance. Clusterbots must add up to the 399Kg weightlimit, but can be different weights.
-Meltybrain SnS and Trinity Spinners are banned.
-Arena will be The VaporZone by 090901
-The first havok explosion in a match will cause a restart. The second havok explosion will end the match and add a 3-minute penalty to their time. Bots causing deliberate havok explosions will be given a 5 minute penalty.

Format:
-Format will be a time trial versus against a 'Boss' opponent, named "The Clock".
-Fastest time after all 12 bots have fought The Clock wins.
-Matches will be the standard 3 minutes.
-Results will be determined by the in-game timer.
-If after all 12 bots have competed, there is a 2,3 or 4 way tie for 1st place, there will be a 4-way rumble to determine the winner. A tie involving 5 or more bots will result in re-running their matches with the clock, either until a rumble can be enacted, or a clear winner is determined.
-There is also the possibility for 3 rumbles to involve all entrants after the main competition. These are just for fun. Only half a clusterbot will be eligible for these rumbles, if any are entered.

Prizes:

-A Gold 'Swiss Made' DSL Disc set based off The Clock's appearance. These will have boosted stats above their equivalent size, and be able to cause modest damage in their own right.
-A hammer called "The Sands of Time" with an additional frequency-based damage stat.
-The opportunity to build the next 'Boss' robot for the next Beat the Clock tournament.

Both component prizes will be included in IRL Pack #3, and be legal for the winner to use in any of my future tournaments using the IRL Components packs. See below for further info on this.

Trying to listen to members with far more building experience than yourself may be a good place to start. Just saying. It may not work, it doesn't mean you couldn't try and make it work within the ruleset given.

I think there's beef between Sir Lance-a-Frog, and this imposter Sir Force A Lot. That Raging Knightmare bot looks pretty suspect too.
