Meh.

If anyone wants me to type out a descrition of a working Punchcard calculator just to prove it I will.

Does it use strings? How much bits does it have (protip: each bit is two XOR gates, two AND gates and one OR gate, and that's only for adding)?

Ow, my head. I'd much rather use a PLC than have to deal with gates and gates.

Aren't PLC's glorified computers with multiplexed IO and higher temperature range? :P

Yes, yes they are. That's what makes them so much easier to use. Well, that and a good instructor with a good program also helps as well.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Computer goes off
« on: July 24, 2010, 12:16:58 PM »
YOu're definitely overheating if it takes longer to shut down the longer its off. Try putting a fam right next to the computer, see if it takes longer to shut down. If it does, then you need more fans in your case. Don't go for liquid cooling unless you have like, four video cards, it costs about 700 bucks.

Just one nitpick: you need to take off a zero for liquid cooling unless you're getting the unnecessarily expensive ones. Liquid cooling can cost anywhere between $45-90 depending on what you get for processors, and it's a bit cheaper than that for video card cooling.

Some thoughts:

*Those E-Tek's aren't meant for driving; they're meant for weaponry. There are E-Tek Drive versions in the game. However, in your case, you can easily downgrade to NPC Fasts and add on Hypno or Techno wheels.
*It may be an overkill for battery power. Then again, I'm not exactly certain how much power you need to use a flipper with a Large JX Burst. The others know and know well... at least the vets do.
*The oddly shaped chassis probably isn't doing many favors, since it would seem that your opponents would just glance off the front and attack you with no fear of getting flipped.
*Also, shrink the chassis. Having a smaller target for your opponent to hit is always a good thing. One of the big things these guys taught me to do is to take the height scale and click at the very bottom of the scale (not dragging it). That will lower your chassis a fairly good amount, saving you weight in the process.

All told, the robot looks like it could be a somewhat effective middleweight.

I currently use the Cyborg, and it's a very nice keyboard. However, considering the G15 is going for cheaper, GO FOR IT. It's a better keyboard, and you'll get used to the burnt orange backlight.

Mechavore when it fought Son of Whyachi

How about Mechavore vs. Biohazard in 5.0? If Mechavore would have only invested in a SRIMECH, it would have won the fight easily.

I'm old.  This was what was on TV when I was a kid, in order of discovery:

Sesame Street
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
Bill Nye the Science Guy
Ghostwriter
Wishbone
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego
Arthur
Zoom (My parents were big on Public Television.  They wouldn't let me watch any other channels until I was 10.)
Pokemon
Jackie Chan Adventures
Robot Wars
Yu-Gi-Oh
Xiaolin Showdown

Add on the shows from Nickelodeon from the early '90s (Double Dare, Eureeka's Castle, The Sharon, Lois, Bram, and Elephant Show amongst others) and you have what I watched growing up.

Don't use NPC's for LW's. All you need is a TWM3 Drive version, and you should be fine drive wise. With that, put more weapons on it.

It's a rammer. In the LW division, you NEED at least normal NPC's. I should know... it's my big weakness with Kurt Rambis in BBEANS6.

Also, Somebody is right. The chassis can be shrunk and razor tips can be brought into the equation for more weaponry.

Otherwise, that robot looks rather good, and I wish that I put something in like that for BBEANS instead of what I did.

Yeah... you shouldn't have created this thread. It's not important, nor is it that long of a time.

I sorta thought that the early version of Anklebiter was unlucky. I've seen a couple matches with it where it performed well, but was immobilized by getting stuck on the wall spikes, or getting flipped by the killsaws.

Thing is, though, by 4.0 Ankle Biter was essentially a running joke in Battlebots, having lost and lost badly in the last two tournaments before the major reconstruction (to F5 in 3.0 and Heavy Metal Noise in 4.0). In 5.0, it gained a level of badassery and did absolutely great... until it once again got unlucky against a severely underweight Turtle (Road Kill).

looks like a BW weapon, not whatever class BLDPITS is. (MW?) It has zero range too, no idea how you could do any damage with that.

It pushes bots around while cuting them up with the blade, says it on the team profile on Batlebots.com (it's on the Wayback Archive)

Thing is, though, that blade wasn't there until 3.0 or 4.0 along with the rename "Buddy Lee, Stay in Your Seat".

After using the Wayback Machine to find the old site and scores, it went like this:

Damage:
Turbo 9, Buddy Lee 6 (Turbo won the category since Buddy Lee had more visible damage compared to Turbo, though one judge give the category to Buddy Lee because of Turbo's drive damage 4-1)

Aggression:
Buddy Lee 11, Turbo 4 (Turbo showed some, but not much, aggression in the fight)

Strategy:
Buddy Lee 11, Turbo 4 (Turbo's spin and wait strategy hurt it severely, and it was only compounded with the robot losing drive)

Though the match vs. Double Agent in 3.0 was quite unfortunate for Turbo as well.

Wait, this is 45 pages already? BBEANS5 only had 51 pages.

Considering there's two times the robots, I would say the number of pages this will have will be double BBEANS5.

What ? Velociraptor havoks ? You'd better take a look at Thunderclap or Speed Freak :P

Velociraptor has havoked on me before...

Yes.

Because of some havok, that said... but wait. Is that the skirt hinge that havoks or the BSG ?

I'd say it would be the skirt hinge. Same thing happens with Velociraptor in NAR AI 2.3.

sorry for that bump but I read on the german roboteers site that the original arena was selled to a scrapyard for some less money.

http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arena

Everything can be found there. Blame the Royal Air Force for the arena to be sold for scrap at about $375 US.

because I have nothing to show.

(Image removed from quote.)

3 ants, plastic 3. exactly 249 kgs.

Third team is almost done, just need to finish one more bot, AI, and other stuff.

Kind of reminds me of Malvolio on steroids. I like.
