We'll probably need some more details than that. Did you follow all of the instructions to a T?

I just LOVE HS in DSL because with 2 Piglet motors spinning razor tipped tribars you can have your points go up to OVER 9000!

god what even is this quote

like

i still remember the robot i was talking about even. it was a sh**ty dsl version of childs play. it didnt have a plow and was unrealistic as hell and it looked ugly as sh** because i didnt know about custom textures

god

I know the feeling. I have to fight myself to not edit/delete old posts of mine when I come across them.

Site News and Feedback / Re: Petition to Bring Back Playground
« on: October 10, 2014, 08:55:16 AM »
I think deleting playground was a bad idea on the basis that it has decreased forum activity by a bit.

On the other hand, that activity was not beneficial to the forum in any way. It was just a place that turned into a toned down 4chan. Taking it away has only culled the part of the community that were here for the section that didn't add anything anyway. People should build more robots instead of complaining that an irrelevant section of the forum has been excised (he says, having not build a robot in ages. Double standards ho).

Besides, most of the later threads were just repetitive and not really memorable at all. 'Something, something, dubs, lel, kek, images, Frenchie, demodnaryar, #rektshrektdisrespekt'. I mean, there were a few fun topics, but a lot of it was drivel.

This times a thousand

The forum has gotten a lot quieter without playground. I think this is going to have a huge negative effect on the forum lifespan in the long-term.

However at the same time it has made trolls less interested in the forum causing them to leave. I think deleting playground was a bad idea on the basis that it has decreased forum activity by a bit. Also it was not like you had to be part of playground, you don't have to be part of the group.

You give people freedom to speak then they're happy but you start tightening the freedom of speech that will only cause people to leave.

It's not freedom of speech. They can have whatever they want discussed here. If you want to discuss pointless crap, find the people you loved so dearly, make a forum with them, and discuss it there. This forum is for RA2, and the amount of splashover junk made it more than worth it to get rid of the Playground.

Yes, the place that attracted all manner of disinterested forum members only here for games and pony discussions, and whose member base practically forced out a bunch of the older members with their stupidity.

Pass.

Somebody (Not Somebody) convince me why I shouldn't.

Happy to see that this joke is still relevant 6 years on.

Also, do it, but only if you film it. And hang some tiny spiky ball off the bottom for a "weapon".

Team Minus Zero, or the old TMZ.com before TMZ was a thing. Always thought that was a neat factoid about TMZ.

Thanks guys!

Like the robot, man!
BTW, welcome back to GTM, Dude! We missed you! It's been like 1-2 years now!

Thanks, been gone forever with school and stuff.

Oh wow! You're back! I didn't realise :D
I've forgotten most of what I know about DSL, but that looks like a great concept. Might dabble in DSL again soon. Just a thought, but would weapons be useful on the bsg arm for a bit of damage?
:D

I actually thought about that when I was taking the screenshots earlier haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that, I'm going to give it a try and see if I can keep it realistic and under the weight limit.

ohai somebody, it's been a while
Awesome concept. Is it not lighter to use a few battlepacks? I can't remember much about DSL

ohai. I can't remember much either, besides hinge wedges are very good, beta motors are sweet, and spamming ants is a thing to do. I think you may be right though, so I'll see how a rebuild would go. The giant orange ones are the most efficient IIRC.

Finally built something. A flipper with an added twist. A problem with a lot of the flippers with the Beta motors is that they'll end up throwing the robot straight upwards, and from the middle of an arena, the opponent won't fly out of the arena, putting you in danger because you have to flip the opponents multiple times. This robot is my attempt at fixing that. I have a BSG set up to throw forwards in between the two large flippers. By launching them at the same time, the BSG gives the opponent forward momentum, while the Betas still throw it a mile and a half in the air. This makes the robot much more likely to fly out of the arena, or land on some sort of hazard. This also keeps the opponent in front of my robot, so it'll have less of an opportunity to get around the back and tear away at the tender innards of my robot

Titanium 1, 795.3, NPC Fasts+Technos, a whole buttload of ant batteries, door hinge wedges. I think it came out alright, the first version was undervolted and helpless so this is a definite improvement.

Are i am the only one imaging tournament where everyone would build like nerd3? Making havoc explosions and using misplaced/ wrong things for robot components?
There was a tourney for stock bots called n00b warz where people would use awful bots they built in the past.
Someone needs to host one for DSL now I think  :dumb)

n00b warz was the best

I edited right when you posted haha. I was always crap at IRL anyways, so I'll give the DSL-S a shot first. I always liked it better.

Also, what happened to Team 9? All his posts say "Guest". He finally get his keister banned?

you've been studying mechanical engineering for 2 years and you haven't built a battlebot yet? come on man. WNE has a machine shop.

Wooorking on it man. I have some money saved up now, making about $3K over the summer so I should have some funds to sit on and see what to do with. Filling my time with plenty of car stuff though. Just joined SAE Baja at the school which should be a good timesuck, and I've been messing around with the LeMons car for a while. Plus sleeping, gotta get that sleeping in.

Also, there's a machine shop class at some point, so I'll get that all set up. We also just got 2 Makerbots that I haven't tried out yet either.

You in school anywhere?

I remember you scaring me when you wanted me to send over aggrocat or something of my first showcased bots. I was told that you don't use custom components in the dsl section but my bot did use some so i didn't send anything  :gawe:

you schould defnetly become a vet too. also ribbs and some other people that where around long before I joined about 5 or actually 6 years ago.

also build something in dsl-s ;) this IRL thing has gotten quite big.

I still have that somewhere. It's a fun as hell bot to play with. And I'll get to it, it's 3 AM here and I just threw together a quick flipper idea. Needs some revising but I just went to the bathroom and suddenly all these ideas start flooding into my head. So yeah, I'm back into it

Also, what is dsl-s? Is that the new name for the IRL style bots?

Edit: Looks like DSL-S is short for the old-style DSL bots that were "realistic" in the loosest sense of the term. AKA my bread and butter
