Multiple smartzones can work, but you need to make a custom AI type to do it.
Fortunately, in this case you actually only need 1. Spinners don't require a smart zone, just a button control called "Spin". Then you just need a smart zone for the poking weapon called "weapon" and a button control called "Fire". Also make sure the driving controls are called "Forward" and "LeftRight".

These replica bots aren't new, but they have never before been AI opponents. In DSL 2.0, though, they will be!
From upper left going clockwise: Buster Blade (BW, Darkrat), That Darn Dustpan! (LW, Clickbeetle), Hworf (MW, Clickbeetle), The Judge (HW, Clickbeetle).
These bots have all been DSL'd and AI'd and make some nice tough additions to the replicas. Especially That Darn Dustpan, which will scoop you up, pin you against a wall, lower the saw arm, and slice up your helpless bot just like the real thing (courtesy of some custom AI code).

That's basically how you do it, you just have to edit bindings.py and Teams.txt too.

Make the flippers stick out in front of the bot; it will be much easier to get under your opponent. Also, what are these 'sp dsl motors'?

Cool bot. I can't wait until we finish 2.0 so I can try out some of that cool stuff like spiked club drums.
Tip for decreasing video file size: Open the .avi in Windows Movie Maker and save it as a .wmv. It's amazing how much it gets compressed even at the highest quality setting.

Hammers on NPC motors, now there's a novel idea if ever there was one. Nice bot. I expect you won't have much trouble adjusting to the increased difficulty of the AI in DSL 2.0.

That is a nice replica! I think it would look better with different wheels though... say, Vlad wheels or Tornado wheels. I like how you made the insides accurate too.

The North Polers have the most dangerous hammer bots in the pack, as well as the most powerful pushy bot. Don't mess with these guys unless you know what you're doing
LW - Tip of the Iceberg: With good drive power, a devastatingly powerful pickaxe, a snow plow for pushing you around, and surprising balance, it will be hard to remember that this bot is only the tip of the iceberg.
MW - Iceberg: Like Tip of the Iceberg, but faster, stronger, and more powerful. The arch nemesis of shell spinners everywhere. The plow is a reskinned heavy snowplow.
HW - Snow Job: It doesn't have any real weapons, but what Snow Job does do it does well: shove the other bot like it's not even there. The front of this bot is so well armored, you almost need a hammer or get-under type weapon to defeat it.

Very interesting designs there. Look pretty effective, too. Predator II's got a cool design.

We'll be skipping ahead this week to the last stock team, The Scrappers. Instead of having 3 real robot replicas as the other 3 bots in their team, they have... these.
We all know how much players like not just destroying their opponent's control board, but completely and utterly dominating their opponent, tearing off as many pieces as possible and laughing maniacal, evil laughter as debris litters the arena floor like snow  And DSL 2.0 delivers.
When a Tornado Went Through a Junkyard, The Stuff of Champions, and Wreck Tangle are all junk bots using the 'useless' AI parts, specifically designed with maximum 'shredability' in mind. They make excellent targets for when you just want to totally destroy something.
Oh, and on a related subject: All of those AI parts will be available as cheatbot2 components in DSL 2.0, so you'll be able to make some scrap bots of your own if you want, although it won't be considered stock.

robotarena.com will probably be up again later. It does this every once in a while. The site shouldn't actually shut down until... May, I think it was?

Changing the tire texture to diamond plate isn't done, but it would be easy enough to do. As for the bolt, I'm not sure what you're talking about. There was no Battlebots season 7.0... the last one was 5. But if you have any pics of this bolt hammer, post them and I'll see if I can do it. Anyways, here are the new Spike Heads for DSL 2.0! They're bigger, tougher, and more neurotic than before! LW - Raving M.A.D.: A (very) zippy little rammer that remains one of the toughest LW's despite all the problems with rammer AI. Spinners beware! MW - iNsAnItY: One of the more innovative designs in the pack, iNsAnItY packs a Beta burst to power its lifting arm. The arm can be used to flip bots, or to crush them when it comes back down, since that huge motor has so much torque. The AI will employ both uses of the weapon, so watch out! HW - Big Metal Friend: Arguably the heaviest armored bot in the pack with two layers of armor plus a wall of spikes in the front, it will take an insanely powerful spinner to rip through this thing. That is, if you don't get embraced in its 'loving' arms first! Note that BMF uses spiked clubs as extenders to hold on the hammers. That's another nasty little trick you'll be able to do in DSL 2.0

More stunt arena screenies! Yes, you were right, this arena is a huge space full of jumps and loops and stuff for the sole purpose of doing stunts with your bot (or just goofing around). Also, what do you all think of Vincent's graphics? Even though you haven't seen the best ones yet.

We have been hoping for an October release, but that is looking less and less realistic as time goes by. Mine and FB's stuff could be done before the end of October, but the other stuff will probably push the release back more.
I know it's frustrating how long this project has been going on. I want to get it done too so I can have time to play some other games (like Myst V and the new Fire Emblem games). But hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. And DSL 2.0 is going to be better than Rome.

This looks suspicious... to clear things up: Yes, Vincent IS on the DSL team and he is making new menu graphics. Quite good ones too.
I suppose since Firebeetle mentioned it, I have to show you this fun sneak peek. But I'm not going to say what it is (and post more screens) until next week  Until then you'll just have to guess.
Edit: Oh yeah, Mr. Weedy - I know the 'gloves' look to be the wrong way, but there's a reason for it. They protect the pistons a little better that way.

sorry i didnt know that it was frowned on in forums this is the only forums that i like i dont want to get kicked out , and thank you il try the perm motor thing, and one last thing lol, do you have the link to rapid share or a place like that?? No need to worry about getting banned or anything :) People just generally don't like showing off custom part bots because there are esentially no limits to how powerful you can make it. For example, a bot covered in 1 kg spikes with 1,000,000 hitpoints... it can get pretty cheap. Rapidshare is at http://www.rapidshare.de/

Looks like another member that knows how to mod the game has joined us. We could always use more of those But it is generally frowned upon to use custom parts on the bots you showcase (unless they are exceptionally cool and/or innovative) and especially in online battles. Just so you know. Otherwise I like those bots. Especially the Surgeon General replica. You could make it look a little better by using DSL teeth instead of axe heads though. You could also position the disc more accurately by using a Perm motor instead of a Z-tek (it will also spin faster then).

Sorry for late post. I had to go on a 2-day field trip for one of my classes and I forgot to tell FB to post Team SPARK here. Well anyway here they are: LW - BROKE!: You could always get the jackpot against Team SPARK's old bot. Against their new one, you'll probably get BROKE! :P MW - The Boxer Returns: This bot is a very specialized design. It doesn't stand a chance against some bots, but against others it is a sure knockout. HW - CRITICAL EMERGENCY: Everyone's favorite stock AI heavyweight is back for more utter domination of the arena! It flips higher, drives faster, kills faster, and is more annoying than before. CE will flip you and have you gored on its spikes before you know it.
