I find starcore unbelievably hard.
Which version did you download? You really should be able to beat SOME of the bots on sc3, even in starcore, some are bad

Use square extenders instead of rounds, they have the same strength but the round ones are lighter.

A black is too much for a lightweight like that IIRC, just use a nifty.

Use shiny hub wheels whenever possible, they're lighter and basically the same as the other wheels.
Yes, all wheels in stock have the same grip
Tighten up the chasis, and try to upgrade the drive.
No, redbirds are fine for a non-rammer lightweight
You might also want to add some weaponry to that bot, even if it's just a few spikes it'll help a lot.
Yeah, but flippers are useless in stock anyway, it still wouldn't win much

2) I swear i've seen bots like this with only a nifty, I said IIRC because I was uncertain though so you are more likely to be right though.
3) Flippers may be rubbish in stock, but we should give advice for that bot, it's pointless if we basically just start telling him to redesign it as a HS now isn't it?
Yes, but we should also give the following advice: Do not make flippers in stock, they are rubbish. For a half decent LW flipper though, take a look at this:
