Alright, take it easy guys. Cleaned up the thread a bit but I'm not gonna hand out warnings because I should've stopped this yesterday.

Also Wen, next time put some screenshots alongside the video. Not everyone has a decent internet connection and probably won't be bothered to properly critique your bots.

That said, your bot has too much armor and too little weapons. Try adding another drum and it will actually be a decent fighter. You're getting there.

I wonder if there's a way to make the stabilizers look a little more solid. Perhaps sacrifice a little bit of drive for that?

If you can scale that design down to a MW, that would be even better.

Regarding the stability, the simplest way to avoid resorting to unnecessary extender work and useless weapons is to expand the chassis base (like the rear, for example). Taper off the top layer if you're not attaching anything to that part of the baseplate. In general, HWs care the least about empty space and would love to have tons of HP and external armor. Also, good gutrippers tend to be low, wide, and fast.

Finally, NWB's design is actually quite outdated, despite its capabilities. The servo-tribar setup is very heavy and would not adapt well to a drum setup since drums use more weapons than jugglers, which forces you to use 2WD. Try a static setup for lightness - if that doesn't work, try using a Snapper II (you can still mount your plow here too). Your priority is still stability, though. Keep revising the setup until the weapon system doesn't shake the bot.

You're getting there!

oh god yes

but instead of making the chassis V-shaped, perhaps you can do that to the motor rack? I'm not quite sure how to make the bot more reliable when forcing bots up the wedges

you are still using weapon motors as drive motors. stop that

that advice has been dropped ever since you showcased your first bot

Battleaxes are deal pretty terrible damage for their weight, and even more so when you don't attach them properly. They only deal damage with the 'blade' part of the weapon. Rotate them by 90 degrees and they can deal more damage. Irons, maces, and razors are still the best weapons to use.

Aside from that, pink batteries are terrible if you can easily use black batteries. In this case, 1 black battery is enough to power the bot for 3 full minutes.

Just explore the bots from other people's showcases and see how they're built. Try to replicate some of them and building your own bots will get easier from there.

Nah it's probably just because you update the first post instead of pasting the pictures in new posts.

Either way, while popups can flip (usually limited to heavyweights and above though), it's not always beneficial since most bots have weapons that protect the top side. The best scenario of a popup is to simply fling the enemy upward but not flip it over.

Nah I bet half of the time the hammer prevents the VS from flinging bots upward and causes the motors to get stuck. It should work as you say in theory, but the hammer isn't curved enough and you're already at the weight limit.

You could try a single motor setup and see if it's better.

Half of the reason why I played it is just to recognize the Space Jam remixes.

ASCOURT is probably my favorite so far.

i would swap the spike strips for a row of lower razors to break wedges. there probably isn't going to be too many HS so the extenders shouldn't be that vulnerable

Or, for the increased cool factor, add another pair of spikes.  :dumb)

Z-Teks are perfect for these kinds of bots. It's just odd that your extender work for the weapon rack is so high up.

You could check the setups of VSes and build it from there.

You spent too much on casters. One row should be enough most of the time.

And I'm assuming the setup is bursted. Generally, static setups would work better on bots that heavily depend on stability. Saves up on extender work as well.

ooh cool it's like pys ai tier

Really digging a lot of the MWs.

roflmao mnb reported you for not building a hybrid

Would prefer wider supports, but hexes are much weaker than discs, so I guess this is probably the best you can do with durable components in mind.

The front looks cool, but the rear's quite messy.

IMO this seems like a waste of chassis space. You could slope the rear and slim down the front and just play around with the extenders so the drive and bursts are still at the right place.

Sure, but can't the JX do it? Or is there not enough momentum?

Actually, I would have suggested an extender sticking out of the hammer arm to do the self-righting, but then that's not IRL at all.

Does the axe catcher really need a burst, or can it be static?
