Play on the new Small Arena and accidentally leave hazards on... it's the same thing, except vertical.

DS Al is the same in DSL as in stock RA2; it's impossible to edit.  Meaning it has 200 strength.  So you're a lot better off with the DSL-ized 3mm Al, which weighs the same and has 600 strength.

The infinity arena doesn't loop and doesn't have any walls, as far as I know.  I'm not sure how it works, just how to make it work.  You need to add a "Plane" object in the RBCollection and use a hex editor to edit in a special character in the compiled gmf (the ClawTop and FlexTop arenas have planes underneath the main arena; that's how FB discovered how to do it).

Ever tried flipping the car?  That's 5,000,000 kgs, and a LW flipper can toss it.  It's something to do with it being all one object; it's easier to move with hinges.  So, accurate flipping objects wouldn't really work.  They would consistently overrepresent your flipping power.

The Flip Test Dummy bot in the Scrappers team is a good measure for relative flipping power--it's easy to get under, and you can throw it high.

FB (with a little help from me) has two new arenas now up for d/l on my site.

The first one is the small arena.  It's a small 8x8 box for fighting LW's in, or for doing really close-up heavyweight fights.  It's a neat, useful arena that also has some funny easter eggs for you to find.

The second arena is the exact opposite, the infinity arena.  Yes, it's infinitely huge.  You can make a bot with 8 E-tek drive and drive for a week straight; you'll still never reach the end.  The origin of the arena is marked with a bright light, which you can follow at any time to find your way back if you get lost.

Like I said before, DSL 2.1 will have at the most one new team of replicas and one new team of AW's/BW's.  The primary function of the patch will be to fix bugs and improve what's already there.

Next on the arena list is the Drag Strip mk.II, which will take a while to make.  I've always thought a replica of the MMER arena or the Mechwars arena would be cool though, so maybe after that...

The E-teks are just going to be flatter.  Right now they're about as tall as they are wide, while real E-teks are more pancake-shaped (like Perms).

Also, I'll only be able to make Apollyon for DSL if it's a real bot by then.  I can't work off of renders; there's not enough detail.

You can't get RA1 components or arenas to work in RA2.  They're made with an earlier version of 3DSM and saved in a different gmf format that's incompatible.

Gyroscopic precession does work in RA2.  I'm surprised you didn't figure that out before, with all your giant vertical spinners.

What weight is Evil Streak, and what armor?  If it's LW, then it's not bad.

There is going to be a DSL 2.1 and I'm going to get seriously working on it after BBEANS.  However, I'm going to concentrate mostly on bug fixes and component balancing rather than on adding more new stuff.

Plans so far:
Fix vertical spinner mysteriously unbalancing glitch (Mr. Weedy and Vertigo know about this) -- Done

Fix Ocean Platform and Compressor Arena events -- Not done, but know how to do it

Decrease power on Ocean Platform hazards

Double check for components marked as non-standard that shouldn't be and fix them

Shorten E-tek motor to a more accurate height (leaving shaft the same length so bots don't get messed up, but adding another lower connection point)

Rebalance all weapons so piercing, concussion, hitpoints, and mass all calculate to a constant efficiency (right now the balancing is just guesswork for what seems best)

Use .bot file editing to shorten some replicas (Biohazard, Ruiner, Tornado Mer, Vertigo) to a more accurate height

If replicas are added, they will include bots (bigger than BW) built by members of the RA2 community.  Evil Engine Number 9, VD4.0, Bliss, Tremor, and Apollyon strong possibilities.

You downloaded just the components and replicas?  Why not just get the whole DSL 2?  That way it would be guaranteed to work, barring any stupid mistakes.

What kind of computer do you have?  On any regular PC you can select a file by clicking on it or clicking and dragging to select multiple files, and either press Ctrl+C for copy or Ctrl+X for cut, or click Edit on the menu bar and select Copy or Cut.

The flipper is used as a secondary weapon.  Once all the spikes on the drills break, then it will start firing the flipper as a last-ditch effort.  All the spikes haven't broken off in any fights yet, so you haven't seen the flipper get used.

Nice.  Looks like it's going to be nice and sturdy.  I hope you can get a green flame - that combined with the horns and tail would make it a really original twist on the wedge/flamethrower design.

Ah.  Then you must have the CD version... which means it must be pirate :nonexistentthumbsdownsmiley:

I dunno what the pirate version is like.  Some file in the AI folder must be different.  You can try replacing critical files like Bindings.py, __init__.py, or Tactics.py, but I don't know if anything would work.

That doesn't mean he didn't pay for it.  A lot of people download RA2 from trymedia.com.

Unfortunately the UI is all screwy in that version, so the 1.3 patch, or any other graphics mods won't work.

If you have a stock RA2 copy (which is recommended) you can just copy/paste the "UI" folder from stock to DSL.  Then copy/paste the UI folder from dsl2nographx.rar (if you don't still have it you can redownload it) over that one.
