(Don't change subject of thread to who is a noob and who isn't. It was just a hypothetical question) 3086

Right but it is probably a dummy e-mail made to register for the forum. it is gtm@revomedia.org so I think it seems logical to me.

Alright here is some advice.
Read Kickin Bot By Grant Imahara. (Guy from Mythbusters). Good advice for any builder. Don't use drill batteries. They take way to long to recharge. Check out some NICADS http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/batteries_battlepacks_nicad.html I'm not saying you should buy from there because of pricing but it is worth a check. Motors: Two 12 volt motors might be a little skimpy for a Featherweight I know guys who use two drill motors on their 12lbs bots. I'd say at least 4 motors if you dont have an active weapon. I run 4 18 volts and Shish can push me. (I weigh 160 lbs) Speed controllers: Vantecs are awsome!! They are an all in 1 speed controller for drive. I use a RFDR 22 in Shish-Kabot. http://vantec.com/acatalog/spdcat.html (The RFDR 21 should be fine for your purpose) UHMW plastic is a great construction material but very heavy. What kind of wheels are you planning on using? 4-5 inch wheels will get you about 10-14 MPH (I don't know the specs of the motors just guessing based on other bots) If you go bigger you run the risk of stripping the gears in the gearbox. (I know from experience) Do you plan to have an active weapon on planned for that? If it is just a pusher you might want to consider a wedge bot. Any questions just let me know and good luck! 3099
