Off-Topic Discussion / Re: General Chatter Thread« on: December 03, 2011, 05:43:41 PM »And here, on the comments of a HL1 video on YouTube, we see the epitome of human stupidity. To me, the Call Of Duty franchise is the same game in a different wrapper. It's also one of the most overhyped titles available, I think it speaks worlds about its marketing that people assume everything is a ripoff of Call Of Duty nowadays. And the fact that it's the only game that people from my high school seem to truant with the sole purpose of playing it on release day. Tragic, really. 3003

Okay, first of all, mount the ME lower down in the chassis, so that it would still be invertible. Secondly, while you're selecting the 100cm Disc in the Components tab, just select an attachment point on the outer edge of the disc. That'll allow you to attach it directly to the DSL Bar the way you're wanting.

I can't remember what it was for, but he did cuss on the main forum, and he only got 5% Warn for it, IIRC. And it was gone after a day. Which annoyed quite a lot of people, if I remember.

Too much weight is being used on slow drive at the moment. Perhaps use hollow discs instead, and try to get NPCFs and Hypnos. If you attached the discs directly to a shorter DSL bar, then that would save you almost 10kg you could use on drive and batteries. At a stretch, lose a few razors on the edge that isn't leading when it spins.

So it's a double-sided Judge Burst flipper/flamethrower hybrid? Looks very nice indeed. Thought what are the Beater Bars for?

Discussion / Re: DSL IRL Building Guideline Suggestions« on: December 03, 2011, 04:21:13 PM »
I think a community vote is probably the best solution we could come up with, short of the tournament host being able to reject bots that they deem unrealistic. The problem with that is that people have differing views on what's realistic and what isn't, and what is deemed perfectly IRL by some might be rejected by the host, and vice versa. We can't really put hard and fast guidelines on what makes IRL building, because people will just exploit them for the sake of victory, as has already been mentioned. If you're building in IRL style, then my view is that you should place aesthetics before efficiency and combat effectiveness, and not the other way around.
