Been around for almost 2 years I believe, IRL scared but intrigued me when I first joined and now I'm hosting a fairly popular IRL tournament: pretty content with that. I do feel I joined this community a bit late though, if I could go back in time then I'd have joined a few years ago instead.

Deadgnaws actually won something with a PERFECT record. It got very lucky in my opinion but goddamn, I'm surprised and over the moon at the same time! Was expecting Titan to win the last battle as it's made better! This is an ace tournament system, looking forward to the rest of the conferences!

RedAlert, the "legend" that builds Wandering Spinners and all that rabble produces this Reier/DSC quality build.
I'm pretty damn sure that whoever RedAlert is: you're an alt at this point. Just throwing it out there.

Tbh I actually think robo has some of the least generic bot builders here. Sure in concept they aren't anything new but the way he makes them weird shapes really looks nice. Robo has legitimately made me want to make my bots more interesting so I'm not sure what's generic about them.
Agreed, Robo is definitely one of the best guys in the DSL-IRL meta to make bots that not only look great with extenders but work very efficiently more often than not. I wish I could make flippers just as good as he can! Sure, sometimes they might be a bit bland or simple looking but the extenderwork that goes into them is remarkable.

IRL, I can see, but it’s so easy to make the armor invincible, so in that case, it’s...cheating.
In showcases, though, it’s a great idea. Tournaments and exhibitions, though, cheating again.
You hardly know anything about the game yet act like you're some smartass. Sit down.
I don’t try to act like a knoy-it-all. But when you’re watching a over eighteen matches a day in RA2, you get familiar with the pros and cons of components.
He hosts a tournament with 100+ matches, i think he knows more than you. You also posted something totally unnecessary on this thread. You better shut up or ill personally ask hop to ban you Also lul invincible armour. That doesn't exist in ra2
There's been quite a few OBJ bots in Orc's Wars, none of them have been "invincible" or "cheating". Kix, Badnik, Tashic are just some of the few I know who have used OBJ to make a unique chassis and have not cheated with them. Again, this shows what little you know RedAlert.

What do the orange names at the battlesheet mean?
If you mean the goldish colour then those are main events! Great Episode! I think Wipeout and Blue Bolt are two very good Newcomers. They could make it into the round of 32.
Definitely agree, they put on a good first performance! Aw yeah, first match victory! Kinda disappointed after DUSS and Tilted had a highlight
Yeah I'm disappointed too but I had a very hard time getting a full match.

For that one, I will first prefer a different name. Headache is already taken by an axebot on Orc's Wars Overclocked, and I'm not a fan of same name tbh.
Billy, you can't just say "you can't use this name as it's already taken in a tournament." Let the guy name the robot what he wants. Sickle named a robot Gnaw, you see me complaining? Anyway, Wambo: this is looking pretty good! The very front of the wedge looks a bit too elongated and I'm not sure what the back green bit is but it looks like a decent bot! Only other things I'd suggest is 1. Needs some more defensive wheelguards and 2. Putting the weight of the robot on your splashes would be great too!

i'm just going to be honest and say that I don't really know where gtm fits in anymore with the current ra2 community. gtm is no longer the only ra2 community around, and its debatable if it's even the most active/popular nowadays. the general consensus that I get from most members is that this isn't the main community (can't blame them tbh) for them even if the active ra2 population is shared amongst all of the groups. obviously there are people who feel that gtm is the main community still, but continuing to treat it as if it's the sole pillar of ra2 isn't a good way forwards imo.
these last few years have seen maybe the most dramatic paradigm shift in terms of our userbase, and idk about anyone else but at this point it honestly feels like there's a massive divide within the ra2 community. think back to the fall of 2017, but maybe a tad less open and hostile with one another. idk how else to put it, but it feels like gtm is a forum that's occupied by multiple groups that have just tolerate one another rather than one single community.
im not asking anyone to change their views or how things are ran off-site. obviously it's the job of gtm's staff to make changes that would better reflect the current views of its userbase, but I'm not really sure where we're supposed to go besides "ban so and so and add this feature here" (not saying that either option is off the table"
im not trying to go full "waaa gtm/ra2 is dying", but I think separating ra2 from gtm is an important factor when deciding it's future
I'm not sure the other RA2 communities can survive without GTM, even if it's just as a resource centre. This place has 10+ years worth of files, data, tutorials, developments etc on it. I know there's folks who disagree with me but I still feel it IS the central pillar of the RA2 community. It's no longer the ONLY pillar, but if it falls so does everyone else.
I agree with Robo.
